Breaking Dawn Spoilers Thread!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I just realized what bothers me about the whole pregnancy/baby. SM said she wrote this book for herself. I get that, but she didn't stay true to her characters. Bella never wanted a baby, heck, she never even wanted to be married. She just wanted to be a vampire so she could be with Edward forever. I think SM projected too much of herself, or what she wanted not Bella. KWIM?

I know, you're right. She also said that most of their body fluids dried up. But still, it is a stretch. She also said in the books many times that the physical act with Bella and Edward could kill her because of his strength.

Personally I didn't like the whole pregnancy/baby stuff.

I didn't like it either. It really kinda skeeved me out, to tell the truth.

I just went over to Twilightmoms and the admins already have a post up about the issue: :lmao:

Desnik - I agree with you to a point. I liked the ending. All of the characters seemed to be happy in the end. I wanted the big "show down" as well. Having it end the way it did with the Volturi felt kind of unfinished.

I did not like the way she got to the ending. I did not like the pregnancy, and the images of Bella, Edward, and Jacob during that time. That being said, I like the introduction of Nessie....how it could have been done different, I don't know. I literally laughed outloud though when Bella attacked Jacob for the nickname. Someone should have kicked Bella in the head for the original name at the same time.

SM has said from the beginning that she writes for herself, not for the fans. If she truly believes that, she should offer no apologies. It always makes me mad when people make statements and then back down b/c of public criticism. That's what I mean by sticking to her guns.

I can agree with that. I know a few people though that never wanted kids, and then once they got pregnant their view changed. Maybe that's what happened to Bella?:confused3

I think that like many others there came a point in the book where I just had to put it down and take a step back. I've always been the type of person who gets totally wrapped up in a story and just lets it play out but there were a lot of aspects in this book that the twilight part of my brain just couldn't accept. Bella being pregnant. I can understand how her maternal instinct would kick in when she found out she was pregnant but I felt like because the majority of her pregnancy wasn't told from her POV I couldn't connect to the baby and Bella's immediate and desperate love for the baby. I know vampire children are supposed to be extremely lovable but I just didn't feel the same way. Perhaps I was just expecting a similar love story to what I had seen before. I wasn't ready for Bella and Edward to not be "the" love story. I understand why she used Jacob's POV but i didn't like having to sift through another person's biases to get the story. Now that my ranting is done I have to give SM some credit. I absolutely loved the transformation scenes and Bella's first immortal experiences. Those scenes I felt were extremely clear much like her previous work. I think that this series was a logical progression-fall in love, get married, have a family. Maybe that was my problem, in a weird way the story was just too predictable. Did anyone else pick up on the truck load of foreshadowing? I still have a lot of digesting to do. Maybe my thoughts will be more coherent then lol

Oh, I have a question for you all. I keep reading on other sites about the whole Edward and Bella's uterus thing. If you don't know what I'm referring to, I think it might be too graphic to post here. Sorry. Anyway, did I miss that part in the book? I don't remember anything about it? It seems to be really appalling to everyone but I don't even remember that happening! If it did, gross!:scared1:

Desnik - I think what people are posting is that Edward ate the uterus - that is not what happened in the book. When Bella has her . . . emergency c-section, the "sac" (the way I took it in the book was that the uterus was lined with vampire . . . super strength, I guess, that's why no amnio), was too strong to cut through, so Edward had to . . . bite the baby out.

He didn't consume/eat anything.

So can't believe I'm writing this. Can't wait for Twilight Moms to open, so I can see what the older crowd is saying.

Thanks, I didn't know if I should write out the whole explanation here.
team weasel, I was talking about exactly what Twingle said.

I get it now, I didn't even pick up on that he had to tear it out with his teeth to get the baby out!

Oh, okay. Not the best visual in the world, but since it was not the typica "sac", the typical c-section wouldn't work.

I guess Edward chewing the baby out was better than what I thought was going to happen. I honestly thought they were going to ask Jacob to do it, since blood would be too much for the rest of the vampires.

Still unbelievably gross.

The pages in Breaking Dawn of the birth were unbelievably graphic - :scared: :faint: Do not read while consuming Bloody Marys.

I must be crazy because for some reason it didn't really gross me out. I think when I was reading I was taking it in quickly and just felt Edward's panic of being able to save Bella.

I wasn't grossed out while reading it either. I guess I was just reading quickly to just see what the outcome would be! But it is gross and I would've really been sick if he ate it!:scared1: Why are people saying that?

Anyone know if SM will be doing any interviews discussing the book in detail? I would love to get in her head and find out why she went in the direction she did with this book.

I don't think we'll hear anything from her until tomorrow, when the next Breaking Dawn concert is.

I don't remember grossing out about it, but I did remember thinking...OMG some 13 year old is going to read this and freak.

Hi, ok, so all in all I really liked the book. I did get to a point where I had to put it down, b/c I need a break. I loved the wedding, but was disappointed w/ the honeymoon (I know, she couldn't get too graphic, but I would have liked a bit more). The pregnancy, I was like OMG ***!! I understood both Edward & Bella’s points of view it. Edward had no clue what the baby was going to do to Bella, and wanted to protect her. Bella, on the other hand, would go to any length to protect her baby.

I loved hearing Jacob’s p.o.v. it helped me feel that he had grown up and not be so immature. Him imprinting on the baby threw me for a loop, but she did kind of set that up with Quil and Claire.

The only part that I was not sure of is when Bella drank the blood while she was pregnant. I mean, I understand why, but was just shocked that she did it with no problem. I was waiting for her to have a lot of problems with that, but no, she was like, cool, this is good!!

I just read that as utter desperation on her part, and that the baby was somehow influencing/letting Bella know what she needed.

Heck, I used to be completely repulsed by Dr. Pepper, I only drank Diet Coke. When I was pregnant with #1 son, Dr. Pepper was the only soda I could drink. He completely rearranged my taste buds! :lmao:

moppety, I totally get why she did it, Shoot, I was never a steak eater, but now that I'm pregnant, all I want is steak. I guess, I was just waiting for her to have a similar reaction (light headed, nausea) as she did in Twilight.
