Breaking Dawn Spoilers Thread!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

4. Loved the way Meyers handled the honeymoon and all sexual scenes.

.

I was actually a little disappointed with this...Not that I wanted any graphic erotica or anything but I wanted more...I guess it leaves it all to the imagination but still...lol. Maybe I'm just weird that way :rotfl:

Dear god. I can't even go into a discussion of any kind about BD because all I see are hateful comments toward Stephenie and the words EPIC FAIL flashing at me. Seriously, what is wrong with the fandom? Everyone is going wild! O_O

Oh I certainly wouldn't call the book an EPIC FAILURE at all...or even a failure. Like all of the other books, I enjoyed it despite it's many flaws. I feel, after reading the book, that SM ran out of steam as she was writing this one. Ultimately though, I'm not unhappy with BD or the series. I feel like the package is neatly wrapped.

I agree. But wow do those comments make me insane. I just feel like it's disrespectful to the author.

I think this story wasn't about Edward and Bella, at least I didn't think so. Edward and Bella's story was finished when they got married. This story was about Bella reaching complete adulthood and finally being ready to become a vampire, and this only happened when she got to be a mother. The whole book was about Bella and Renesmee's story, not Edward and Bella's, I think a lot of people are disliking it because of that.
In the end...
Twilight was about finding love, New Moon was about losing love, Eclipse was about choosing love and Breaking Dawn was about protecting love.

I totally agree with this and I think this last book was about Jacob's love also.

I felt gypped that her becoming a vampire became a "necessity". SM wimped out on having Edward's love for her make her a vampire.

I loved it but I agree BD was not YA at all! I went to the release party here and most of the girls in line were probably around 13 and 14 yrs old and as I was reading the book I gasped a few times thinking that the book was way too mature for that age group. Even though I loved it I felt like it was taking place a few years after Eclipse not a few months!

My 14 year old DD read it first and when I got to the honeymoon parts..I thought **gasp** and was glad to see that it was done tastefully but then I got to the Alien birth and thought OMG..doesn't SM know how old her major audience is? :rotfl:

Overall, I liked it. My DD and I were both a little disappointed and we agreed that the baby name sucked. I hate the Jazz thing too. :confused3

I was a Jacob Black fan before I ever read this book...I was hoping she changed her mind and ended up with him when I started the book. I loved his chapters and their titles. :teeth: I guess this was the only way he could end up happy too.

The scenes in Eclipse were better. I think because this was YA and it was actual sex she had to tone it down.

Question. Who is the represented on the cover? White queen and red bleeding pawn? Nessie and Bella, respectively? What do you guys think.

I feel like this book went the way of the Harry Potter series. The first book was 100% young adult; the 7th, not so much.

And, FWIW, I really like Jazz as a nickname for Jasper.

I say Nessie and Bella. That's the first thing I made sense of when I found out Bella was pregnant.

CarbbeanPrincess, I read your blog review and its AWESOME. I'm too tired now to post more, but I agree with a lot of what you wrote. Everyone go read it!!! :)

Not so sure of that. In chess, the white queen would be attacking the red pawn not protecting in. But maybe I'm thinking too literal?

Thank you so much! :goodvibes
Because I am a writer and an english major myself, I try to look at this things from a literary POV, and that's just the honest way I saw everything that happened in BD.

So maybe it's backwards..."Nessie" is the queen, and Bella the pawn that was attacked. :confused3

But maybe the Queen is protecting the pawn in this case, like a mother protecting the child? Perhaps because Bella goes against her nature and accepts motherhood?

Which comments?
Harsh comments over at livejournal communities and other boards I frequent.

Gotcha. Like I said, about the cover, I may be looking at it too literally. I'm fairly certain Bella is the White Queen but not sure of the pawn. I suppose we should assume it's the baby, so maybe that's why Meyers has said peopl;e were upset with her for the cover (she said it was her idea). Maybe people are annoyed that the Queen on the cover is protecting the pawn rather than looking for a way to take it out like it would in reality.

I think this is hands down the best explanation I have seen.

SM is catching some harsh comments. I hope she sticks to her guns. The book isn't that bad, it just didn't go the way most thought it would.

I think most are happy with the ending. It's just how she got to the ending is what's making people mad and go huh!:scared: Also from reading other sites, most people wanted a fight scene with the Volturi. There was such a build up and then nothing. I don't mind the harsh comments to SM about BD. Honestly, if you are an author it comes with the territory. Some people are going to love what you wrote and some people are going to hate it. You have to be prepared for some criticism if your die hard fans are not happy. Most have very valid points. Overall I liked the book but come on, how in the world did Bella get pregnant? It's just not fitting with the stories from the previous books and impossible from SM own story of what her vampires can and cannot do. I can't wait till 12pm today when Twilightmoms is back up. I'm dying to know what people over there think of this.

I went back and did a lot of reading and research over the weekend, and from what I can find, SM never said that a male vampire couldn't get a female human pregnant. It seems to be a case of "No one ever asked the right question".

I know, you're right. She also said that most of their body fluids dried up. But still, it is a stretch. She also said in the books many times that the physical act with Bella and Edward could kill her because of his strength.

Personally I didn't like the whole pregnancy/baby stuff.
