Breaking Dawn Spoilers Thread!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I enjoyed it for what its worth. It was kinda weird, def throws you off some but in the end she gave edward and bella everything in the world they could ahve wanted and that i LOVE!

I'm going to sleep now, since its been a long 24 hours of reading and sleeping and such!

Just done. Well, that book completely went in a direction no one expected. I give Stephenie props for that. Now, I understand why a lot of people disliked it, I could tell as I was reading and I'm sure a lot of Edward/Bella fans will absolutely hate that half the story is from Jacob's POV, but I'm not like that and I have an open mind.
I'm glad that we got to get into Jacob's mind, it's something I needed because I had such a strong dislike for his character, this made me understand him so much better and by the end I didn't dislike him anymore.
I though I loved Bella before, but now she has just grown into what she was always meant to be; a mom. I was so thrilled that she got that gift, because I always envisioned her and Edward with kids and it made me sad that it might not happen at all. So I was just so happy about this. Maybe it's because I have such a huge maternal instinct, but I agreed with Bella in all of her actions in protecting her child, I would do the same; and I was absolutely furious at first that Edward wanted to kill it, but I also understand his pain.

It's a very different book, I agree with that, but I think many fans are able to appreciate it, even if we are in the minority. It was fitting end, like I wanted it to be, happy. Many pieces of the Twilight series puzzle finally made sense, everything seemed to fit perfectly. And Edward, Bella and Jacob all deserve their happily ever after more than anyone.

So I guess that means, I really enjoyed this book, it was very beautiful. :)

I do agree about Bella's names, a bit uncreative. XD

I know a lot of people keep saying that it sounds like fanfiction, but seriously the same things happens with all book series that are popular and have a huge fanfiction following. After years of waiting for the final installment and killing time with fanfiction, everything ends up sounding like fanfiction. I know this from previous experience.

Just finished it and I LOVED LOVED LOVED it. Yes, I thought it was way way different than the other three (much darker, different tone altogether and meant for an older audience) but I loved it!
Spoliers Below!!!

Things I loved
I love the wedding and honey moon "scenes" I was so glad she didnt get raunchy with the honeymoon

I loved the surprise of the pregnancy! Totally unexpected!

Loved the birth/Bella becoming a vamp "scene" It was way more intense than I had thought it would be and I loved the whole syringe of venom to the heart thing! Creative!

I Loved the fact that she was able to control her "thirst" for humans!

I loved that while the first 3 books are about everyone's efforts to save her she ended up saving them all in the end!!!! Way to go Bella I always knew you had it in you!

I loved the fact that they become parents. It was so heartwarming and so satisfying to think of them as parents and I melted the one time it refrenced Edward to "daddy"!

My fav part??? Alice is my favorite character and we she walks out of the forest with the proof they needed and you realize that she had not abandoned them I actually cried. Like ALOT!

I loved that everyone got a happy ending! All the cullens Edward, Bella ,Nellie, Jacob and even Charlie and Sue.

I only have a few cons I think it could have been shorter. There were several parts that were like a hundred pages long that could have been wrapped up in like 30 or so.

The Jacob imprinting thing really creeped me out at first but I eventually got used it it.

I also hated the baby's name at first but quickly warmed up to it as well!

I loved it and truly felt closure after reading it!

Okay, I finally finished it. So I am now able to finish what I wrote earlier. I still feel like she tried to cram too much into this book. The first three books were incredibly simplistic, and I think that was the beauty of them. Girl meets boy, girl falls in love with boy, yada yada yada.

I think it would have been a much better book if Renesmee (cringe) had never been introduced. Bella would have become an immortal, the Volturi still could have come, Jacob could have imprinted on someone else, and I think I would have liked a big fight scene with the Volturi. The ending was very anti-climactic.

It went so weird in the middle, I seriously almost didn't pick the book up again this morning to finish. Instead of being a 'realistic' book about vampires, it became very Angel and Buffyish to me. Don't get me wrong, I love Buffy and Angel. But that's not what these books seemed to be originally aiming for. I feel like she lost the spirit of the three other books, and I wasn't as connected to these characters as I once was. That made me the most sad. I started NOT caring what happened to any of them.

I guess I'm glad to know how their lives ended up. And maybe someday I'll reread Breaking Dawn and have a different opinion. But when I go to reread the books that I so desperately loved, I will stop after Eclipse.

ETA: I found this on the Breaking Dawn reviews on Amazon and wanted to say that it mirrors my thoughts exactly (I'm just bad at putting my thoughts into words sometimes ):

The epitome of Bella and Edward's relationship is about the sacrifice Bella had to make and the consequences that came with it. And after all of that Bella STILL loved Edward. She chose over a real LIFE with Jacob, to be with the one she loved more. It's that DEPTH that makes it so heartbreaking and romantic at the same time.

But what did SM do? She gave Bella a freebie, a "get of jail free card". She singlehandedly destroyed the complexity of the story with a fanfiction like baby, name, and story line.

I really liked it. I took my time reading yesterday and savored it all. I went into the book not really liking Jacob and came out really liking him. I loved Edward and Bella in this one. I was glad they made Bella STRONGER and not whiny in this one. She choose death so she could save the baby. She was willing to give up everything including Edward to bring her into the world. I really enjoyed the end it was a fitting way to end the saga. I wish there was more of Alice and Jasper in the book because I love both of them. But it was nice to she more of Rose in this book.

I finished it last night and I was so happy once I got to Book Three! That saved the book for me because I couldn't stand the direction it was going in with the pregnancy and Jacob's perspective. But now that I finished it I know that part was essential to the story. I thought the book was great & I'm very happy.

I read the book yesterday and I have to say that about half way through I was like "what is going on here?" lol

I really enjoyed the book. It was however like everyone has stated different. It was almost like it did not totally fit with the other three books. I think that if she wanted all the content in the book that was presented that it should have been broken up in to at least two books and the climatic senses drawn out more to include some sort of battle.

I think that she really tried to give people what they wanted in the end and to wrap everything up in a pretty package.

I was happy for Edward and Bella in the end.

All in all I liked the book but it defiantly is not the best in the series.

I am surprised so many people hate it. Didn't most people get what they wanted at the end of the series...didn't everyone want Bella to be changed? Didn't we want Jacob happy? Didn't we want to know Charlie was ok? We did get all that.

BUT...I agree it was written...different. I didn't feel emotionally tied to the characters (or smitten with Edward) as the other books make you feel. It feels all very glossed over...too much stuff at once, so you lose that bond. And yes the sex scenes were non existent, but I always knew that was exactly how she'd do it.
Most annoying thing ever?? The new nicknames...Rose...and especially Jazz. If I had to read Jazz one more time I might have screamed (and I did say a few expletives out loud after about the 5th time). When in the world did they ever use those stupid names even once in the previous books? :sad2:

So I suppose in the end I am glad to know how it all ended...and much of it did not surprise me at all. But I do wish it had *brought me in* a little more than it did...I wanted that tie with it. The only time I felt at all sad/into it was the moment she put her monster baby on Jacob's back and started telling him to run, etc, and he shed a baseball sized tear. I did tear up a little at that, as a mom, knowing how hard it would be to do that to save your child.

When the nicknames started, I began to wonder if Stephenie Meyer even wrote this book. Maybe she was too busy and farmed it out.

I loved it. I had a silly little grin on my face when I bought the book...a silly little grin on my face as I was reading the book...and a big wide grin on my face as I finished the book.

The thing I loved the best about this book....was JACOB!!! (And I am a team Edward kind of girl) He is hysterical.:lmao: Did anyone else find his portion of the book to be funny? I laughed out loud at his prologue. Then his chapter titles were hysterical too. I even enjoyed his blonde jokes!

I loved the conversations he was having in his head with Edward throughout the story. And then I laughed with glee when I finally realized where Stephanie Meyer was going with the imprinting thing...I didn't figure it out that long before it was revealed, but even so, I was totally like "YES!!" :woohoo: I totally wanted Jacob to be happy and the only person good enough for him would have been the child of Bella (in her full grown form of course).

I also loved how Jacob clued Charlie in to what was going on.

Now for the minor irritations...I didn't feel the intense attraction to Edward as much in this book...although from what the author describes, Bella still felt it. I would have loved to be as in love with Edward again in this book as Bella was. I bet if SM had done a section of the book from Edward's point of view, that would have done it for me.

Second irritation...that baby's name....:scared:

Overall, this was a totally satisfying book and I liked it as much as the others...My newfound love of Jacob overcame any other weaknesses.

Rose was used sparigly in the other books but I agree Jazz was weird!

This may get a little long, apologies in advance.

So... after sleeping on it and obsessing a wee bit, my research began.

Using the Lexicon's info (which comes directly from personal correspondence with SM), I came up with this:

We were never told that male vampires couldn't reproduce sexually. We were specifically told that female vampires couldn't (no ovulation). We were told that most bodily fluids dried up. Emphasis on most. We were only told a few that did, but she never specified which ones did NOT dry up. She intentionally left all of this info out, and from what I can find, noone ever asked the exact right question; Can a male vamp get a female human pregnant?

SM said she had put a lot of thought into vampire sexual relations. We also know that she had the conclusion to the tale written long ago (she gave it to her sister).

I think this was in the cards all along. She never specifically broke her canon in regards to this.

I finished it yesterday - it was ok....

not earth shattering ,not make me cry with happiness, or bawl like a baby with despair.

I really began to HATE Bella in this book. I also did not feel the ties to the characters like in the other books.

In Eclipse I was constantly smiling with the undertone of love and lust- none of that here for me anyway...

I still love the books though :)

I think this story wasn't about Edward and Bella, at least I didn't think so. Edward and Bella's story was finished when they got married. This story was about Bella reaching complete adulthood and finally being ready to become a vampire, and this only happened when she got to be a mother. The whole book was about Bella and Renesmee's story, not Edward and Bella's, I think a lot of people are disliking it because of that.
In the end...
Twilight was about finding love, New Moon was about losing love, Eclipse was about choosing love and Breaking Dawn was about protecting love.

I really have to agree with that. You really worded that perfectly!

I have my issues with this book, don't get me wrong but when you look at it in the perspective that you just wrote, you appreciate this book for what it is.

Have you all been reading reviews on line? It's not good. Lot's of people upset.

Like I said in my earlier post I loved it! I think SM would have had to kill them both for me to totally hate it!
It was very different from the other books Ill give you that but I mean come on what did we expect, the others were based around high school and such and now they had both graduated and where getting married(we already knew this from Eclipse) so did we really expect it to be like the other 3??? the thrill of new love can only last so long. The wedding and the birth of their child made their love and commitment to one another more real and true instead of just a childish schoolgirl infatuation with a beautiful mythical creature.

I am SOOOO sad for SM!! I have read some really nasty things online! What would we really have done differently? If we think about these characters like they were real and we have loved them from the beginning wouldnt this be what we would really have wanted for them all along???

Oh yeah and I thought it totally rocked that Bella was the one who ended up saving the day!!!

I also had a few issues with it but not half as many as New moon or Eclipse!

I think the expectations were so high that there would have been alot of people upset no matter what she had wrote!!!!!

Thank you.

I expected many to be upset, it's the last book and everyone picks out the worse instead of looking at the good. I think a lot of people aren't appreciating the book for what it is. It is about love, yes, but a different kind:maternal love. Half the readers of the series are teenagers and they can't appreciate that as much as everyone.

Don't get me wrong either. I have some issues with the book as well, it's not my favorite, but it's not my least favorite either. It is what it was meant to be and the story is not ours but Stephenie's. But I do look at the book from that perspective and everything seems to fit into place.

I think you've hit a lot of it right there. Problem is, this book & this series are marketed as YA. They are shelved in YA. Yeah, there are a LOT of adults reading it, probably just under a third of the audience. But they are not the intended audience. And teens don't get that concept of maternal love, as you said, and apparently many are NOT interested in getting it or reading about it or having it be the focus of a YA book (perfectly natural & understandable).

Meyer wrote this book for herself, as she has said, not her audience. In that way, she let her audience down in some respects. We as adults may love or hate it based on our perspectives, but I feel bad for the teens who bought into the series and had it switched in tone, development, and plot at the last minute. They probably feel like the story belonged to them too, considering the cost, time, and passion they put into it these past years.

Ah well, she is crying all the way to the bank I am sure. Everyone has a fall if they rise high enough--she will get right back up again, no doubt.
