Break out the bubbly and warn the waiters...she's coming back!

I've never been during F&W but it sounds so so wonderfully delicious! I can't wait for you to go so I can experience it through your report! I could see little bites of this and that being quite filling and a great way to taste things you may normally not want to go on a limb and order a whole dish of.

I would make sure to hit that freebie Flavorland one. Anything with ice cream has to be good!

Will you write my plan of attack for Food and Wine, Christine? I don't even know where to begin -- although I have located and subscribed to the official thread. ;)

Here's a question: How much money did you put on your gift card? I am having the hardest time deciding a budget for the booths. :confused3

Love the picture of Illuminations. A happy accident, indeed.

Oh my goodness, if you even do a few of the things you've listed that you're considering, I'm going to be very, very happy reading your trip report. :thumbsup2 Those are the kind of things that sound so interesting to me, but that are virtually impossible to fit in with the family going.

Although it did occur to me.

Since I bumped up my trip dates, I'm going to be there at the same time as Big Bad Voodoo Daddy. :eek:

I am no help to you for the F&W....have never been there during that....I do hope to take Tom there sometime in the future....I think he will love it!!! No matter what you do, I know that you are going to have some F-U-N FUN!!!!! I hope our paths cross at least once for a quick hello at the very least!!!! Some of my plans have changed, so you never know!!! Update coming soon!!! ;)

Wait wait wait wait.

I just got to the fast and furious passing of messages back and forth about who is going when and who is going to see/meet whom, and I don't see the actual dates for these meets... WHAT is the scoop? Where is this thread!?? We are going in December as a family... CURSES that I didn't use that dang bounce back last week!!!! I had no idea this was brewing... but I DID get a free dining and such package pin... and we bought APs... WHAT is the story and WHEN. I am actually contemplating that Princess 1/2 marathon in March as a special trip for myself... BUT, this sounds equally equally intriguing...:scratchin

RE the F & W tips... I will just keep sayin' it....

8.00 LOBSTER ROLL... THAT and Lamb chops with reduction sauce, and Dim Sum in China, and GINGER ice cream in China, and something really yummy in Mexico, I can't remember now, an empanada or something... and good grief, just a lot of really good snacks! SAVE your SNACK CREDITS if you are going on the plan...

SO what is the scoop?
OH, and I just got caught up... obviously !!! :)

I love the F&W festival. Between that and MNSSHP fall is my favorite time to be at WDW. :goodvibes I hope they have the cheese kiosk this year. I want to try that and the wine walk and the ice wine and salmon at Canada, the greek salad, empandas at Mexico, sushi at Japan and everything. :goodvibes Dang, now I'm hungry- hurry up September. ;)

My DD22 and I will be there Sept 24-Oct1 staying at POFQ. I hope to see some of you there. :)

Oh Christine:

I just read all the F&W events you are considering. I really like that wine walk thing. I love wine tastings, even though I know nothing about wine! :rotfl:And the beer making sounds pretty cool, too. My DH would love this stuff as he has all the equipment to make wine and still has a few left over bottles stashed away. I, on the other hand, thought the whole wine making thing looked like a science experiment in my dining room.

I will be sure to tune into your TR, because if I ever do get there during F&W I will need a crash course in efficient navigation.

Even if it is in that pathetic palm tree area.
:rotfl2: That's exactly where DH saw Jamie going into the bathroom. Of course I was in the women's so I didn't see him. :rolleyes:

Party for the Senses

We went last year with some friends who just raved about it and whilst I had a good time, I don't really enjoy meat so I don't think I got as much out of it as I could have. Everything I ate was very good and DH enjoyed everything he had. We got there late because I had the wrong start time so we didn't experience the "rope drop" and there was still plenty of food left. :thumbsup2

* The wristlet gift card is very convenient (not to mention doesn't feel like real $)
Absolutely! :goodvibes

Hello, my friends. I have let this silly little thing called work get in the way of DISing this week. :sad2:
Wow, all these events sound very interesting. If you do the wine walking tour, I will be very interested in hearing which German wines they do serve!
I will take notes for you! I will say that I don't tend to like sweeter wines so I'm not sure if I'd do a Riesling walk. But hey, in the name of research... :rolleyes1

Thank you for the links! I'm off to explore! :banana:
So what did you think? Anything catch your eye?

I'm really glad to hear they didn't ask for your TiW card when making the ADRs! That is a good sign. Really though, I don't think Disney would decline anyone the discount even if the ADR was made without the card-how awful would that be? :sad2:

Anyway, I haven't heard back from Disney yet on it....I will keep you posted if/when I do though!

I really hope there are no changes!

You are certainly not alone! I am usually thinking about our schedule, "must do's" and the food! :laughing: I like your ABC game though, I'm gonna have to try that one out. :goodvibes

It's an addictive game. I've been going through the ABC's of characters this week. Believe it or not, I'm having trouble with the ABC's of Disney drinks without googling for help. Clearly I need to do more research. ;)

This was such a sweet post! I'm so excited for you all---and jealous that I'm going to miss everyone by a couple weeks. BUT, it's gonna rock for you ladies! I'm looking forward to the TRs when you get back!

Thanks. :goodvibes I'm really excited about the trip. The TR's are going to be something else. We'll have to plan another time. Perhaps on the podcast cruise? :rolleyes1 No I haven't booked yet but I do think about it...

We went on the last Saturday in 2008, holy cowsers, it was nuts! Long lines for everything and no where to sit and enjoy your snack.

Oh boy. Crowds and I don't get along. I'm a little spoiled. :snooty: Oh well, it's Disney. We'll just do the best we can.

Thank you for the links C!! It will give me something to do in the next couple of days. Like LL I had no idea what all Food and Wine entailed and had no clue about all of the events...thanks for sharing!!!!!!

I can't wait for our concert and R&C night...its going to be great!!!

Did you study up? I'm looking forward to our concert and R&C dinner too! My fingers are crossed we can get the Paula Deen tickets. :wizard:

They will be very happy for your scouting reports....I know read the early reports before our trip the last weekend of October last year.
I relied on the early reports a lot last year too. And it will be fun to be the scout. And if it's all in the name of research then I won't feel guilty trying one of everything! :laughing:

Remind me to do my Paula Deen impersonation for you. "If it's not made with a biscuit, butter and sugar why eat it?"

Sounds good. We will remind you!

ahhhhhh....that sounds like my kind of 'hood!
It sounds pretty "cool" doesn't it? :laughing:

If you don't like it ....throw it away. Better to save your tummy for the next booth than waste calories.

Plan more than one day to nosh around the booths.

Don't be afraid of new spices....you might surprise yourself.

Keep your eyes open for Celebrity Chefs...you just might meet one on accident.

Great tips, thanks!!! I can't wait!! :hyper:

It was so fun last year and this year I have promised myself to branch out and try more. The worst that can happen is I waste ~$5-10 on something I hate. Not that I'm looking to waste $ when there is champagne to be purchased but it will be good for me to try new things. :thumbsup2

Here's a question: How much money did you put on your gift card? I am having the hardest time deciding a budget for the booths. :confused3

Oh, goodness. I'm not sure if one trip qualifies me to make a plan of attack! :laughing: The program will hopefully come out ahead of time and you can read over the menu items and try to identify what you most want to try so you can be sure to hit them. The crowds were definitely increased on the weekend but as I'm thinking about it now, I had a good time in some of those lines and met some really fun people. Maybe it's b/c everyone is buzzed but we had some fun! :lmao:

Budget. Hmmm. I've heard of those... :rotfl: I remember I ended up putting more $ on my card, which is very easy to do. I think I started with $100 but I used it for more than the booths. You can look at last year's program to get an idea of the cost of individual items.

Ah yes. Selfless me doing all these activities so I can bring my dear readers a lively trip report. :lmao: Well, I guess I can't say that's the original source of motivation but I am looking forward to sharing it all with you via the TR! I find that writing the TRs does make the trip more fun. I'm always thinking - gotta get a pic for the TR or oh, they're going to love this on the DIS. :laughing:

Hurrah for being there for Big Bad Voodoo Daddy!

Welcome back! I'm really enjoying your TR! I think we all have varying dates. Mine are 9/24-10/3- haven't done a full analysis but seems like the greatest concentration of people is toward the end ~10/1-10/4.

Would love for you to join us. :upsidedow You do have an AP, right? Quick solo trip? Mom and Dad getaway? :rolleyes1

Another DISer to meet!! That's fantastic! I hope we can meet up too!! Ah the cheese booth - the "mouse trap" I think it was called. :laughing: I think that was one of my favorite moments. Me, my cheese, a glass of champagne and this view:

Oh I don't know anything about wine either. But if I can get some exercise while I'm imbibing, all the better! :laughing:

:rotfl2: That's exactly where DH saw Jamie going into the bathroom. Of course I was in the women's so I didn't see him. :rolleyes:

Hi Angela! I don't think I remembered that your hubby saw Jamie in the mens room. I guess that wasn't the time to ask for a picture? :confused3

I think I'm going to pass on Party for the Senses. But I'm interested to hear what others think of it this year and the changes they've made!

Continuing along my list of must do's, never done's and would like to do's... let's visit the Hollywood Studios!

MUST DO’s
* Muppets
* Star Tours
* Brown Derby
* Great Movie Ride – sentimental favorite but I do agree it could use some updating. And I groan at the mobster scene.
* One Man’s Dream
* Toy Story Mania

NEVER DONE
* Rock’n Roller Coaster – I’m a wimp
* Tower of Terror – see above
* Lights ,Motor, Action
* Fantasmic
* American Idol
* Sounds Dangerous – think I’m going to skip this :laughing:
* Beauty and the Beast
* Little Mermaid - in fact don't think I knew this was here until I just read LL's update.

WOULD LIKE TO DO THIS TRIP (in addition to the must do’s)
* Sci Fi diner – another stop on the cheeseburger in paradise tour.
* Explore the Streets of America more. Find the Singing in the Rain umbrella and “make it rain.” And LL & Marc have me wanting to try all the doors to see if any open!
* Find out what character I am most like – I think this is in the Animation attraction
* Tune In Lounge - I have eaten at 50's in the past and enjoyed the atmosphere. Can't fit it in the meal plans this time but could maybe fit in a snack/drink? :confused3

What else? :confused3 I haven't done Indiana Jones Stunt Spectacular in years. Worth it?

Fantasmic isn't currently in my plans... the reduced schedule makes it difficult to fit into the itinerary. Am I missing out?

Backlot Tour/catastrophe canyon? I remember thinking in '06 that it was a shell of its former self. Anything changed?

American Idol... what's the verdict? Keep in mind, I don't watch the show.

Excellent must do list. I haven't done the Indiana Jones show in years, but as CP will be pleased to discover, my DS has become recently obsessed. So that's a must do for this little clan. You know what, at the very least, it's campy good fun. :thumbsup2

I agree with you on the trip writing thing. I know I find myself taking pictures I normally wouldn't even think of, because they'll like this on the DIS, or for a specific DISer, you know?

I think it was Tinkerbellarella who commented on how cute "her" Indiana Jones was. I confess... that's what got me to thinking it might be time to revisit this attraction. :blush: :lmao:

That's it exactly on the TR's! I love remembering other DISers while on the trip. And to think that this trip I'll get to meet some of them! :yay:

:rotfl2::rotfl2::rotfl2: I'll admit it. A cute Indy would be a motivating factor for me as well. It's just a bonus that DS is so excited. :lmao:

I know, it's so exciting, these Food and Wine trips are full of DIS friendships! :goodvibes

I love your DHS list. I think DHS is the day I am looking forward to most. I don't know why but all the plans we have for that day sound so much fun, throw in Hollywood and cap it off with a dinner at Brown Derby and I'm in heaven!

I would be more than happy to accompany you on your first viewing of Voyage of the Little Mermaid. :rolleyes1

You know, in May I had no desire to check out American Idol but seeing pictures on the DIS wants to make me check it out. I am planning on a full day at DHS and since I don't do RNR and ToT, I feel like I can fit it in with everything else I want to do. :thumbsup2

I think you will enjoy American Idol, we went in March and June, both times we loved it! They find the such great singers!
