Break out the bubbly and warn the waiters...she's coming back!

Next on our tour is..............

ANIMAL KINGDOM

MUST DO’S
* Safari
* Tree of Life paths

Boy, that's kind of pathetic. Only 2 must do's? :confused3 But I do have a lot of want to do's so maybe they will turn into musts after this trip.

NEVER DONE
* Everest
* Yak & Yeti (table service)
* Dawa Bar- shocking, isn't it? ;) I don't even know where it is. Must. Study. Map.
* Browsing around the shops
* Lion King
* Finding Nemo
* Wonders of Flight – birds scare me so think I’ll be keeping this on the “never done” list.
* Rafiki’s Planet Watch/Conservation Station

WOULD LIKE TO DO (in addition to must do’s)
* It’s Tough to be a Bug- I thought this was cute - other than the stink bug part. :sick:
* Dinosaur? The first and only time I went on this it scared the holy carp out of me. I had no idea what the ride was about and was expecting something on the order of Ellen's Energy Adventure. :scared1:
* Shopping
* Yak & Yeti or Dawa – the yak attack- despite an unappetizing name, I must try it. And CP has got me thinking about a little something called "Lost on Safari."
* See AK at night, if possible- just heard there are EMH on 10/1! Hoping to work that into the agenda, maybe? Honestly can't remember what I have planned on that day. :confused3
* Tiger trail
* Gorillas
* Nemo – it gets such rave reviews I feel like I should see it
* DeVine - know you can't schedule this but would love to see her. Is there a certain place that she's usually seen?

Oh and it goes without saying I haven't seen AK rope drop either. :rolleyes1

According to the Disney calendar the AK EMH's are Friday 10/2. I'm planning on those!

My AK list is very small too but I really do want to spend some time in the park this time around. :thumbsup2

The Dawa bar is on the way to the safari I believe.

You've never done Everest? Or Lion King? Oh my friend make those Must Dos! So much fun! I really love AK. I love the trails, the gorilla are amazing, I even like the naked mole rats!

Every time I've seen DeVine she has been on the path between if you were walking from the Safari/African Village area (not up on my names I'm afraid) to walking up towards where you would find Everest/Asia area.

I did the bird show on my solo trip and I enjoyed it but if you are not a bird fan it might wig you out if you are sitting in an area where they fly over your head. They are pretty amazing though. The hosts drove me nuts (one was fine and informative, the other played the second banana waaaay too over the top corny) but I liked the birds and it was a nice place to sit for a few.

Two words.

Champagne kiosk.

Why am I more excited about this than anything else now? :lmao:

Two years ago, they had a kiosk for champagne and chocolate truffles (they came packaged in this cute little box). I was devistated that it was not there last year and am stoked that it will be back this year.

In Marianne Hunnel's interview with Deb Martin Koma, she spoke of a Grand Marnier Parfait - yummo! :cool1:

Christine, the Dawa Bar is right in front of Tusker House - if you get a seat towards the front, it can be a good place to watch the Jammin' Jungle Parade from.

DeVine is amazing - mesmerizing really. She is on a schedule and you can ask at Guest Service when you get to the park when and where she'll be appearing. Usually it is on the path between Africa and Asia - but this summer she has been moved to the area around the Tree of Life.

I know I'm in the minority but AK is my second favorite park (behind Epcot). :lovestruc The level of detail they went to in creating that environment often goes unnoticed and unappreciated. I even love Dinoland (once I understood the complicated backstory behind it)

Maybe I'm nuts but the PB&J shake just doesn't sound appetizing to me at all. :sad2: But there are plenty of other concoctions I'd like to try there!

I'm right there with you on this one. I tasted the PBJ Shake a few years ago - Yuck! Of course, I also don't like Tonga Toast - go figure. But, Dad's Electric Lemonade - that's another story. It really hits the spot on a hot afternoon :thumbsup2

Oh goody. 10/2 works much better for me. I forgot about MNSSHP on 10/1 and some special DIS meets! :thumbsup2

I'm really looking forward to exploring AK too! :)

Nope. Hanging head in shame. Never done 'em. Now on Everest - am a MEGA chicken. Am still thinking about this one but *think* I might be able to handle it. And I do hear excellent things about the ride - queue and all! As for Lion King, I don't know why but for whatever reason I've never really seen any of the shows in any park. They just don't occur to me. But here again I've heard terrific things so think I need to fix that too!

The bird thing is out. I practically hyperventilate just walking around World Showcase with all those divebombing birds! :scared:

Thanks for the tip on Devine!

Two words.

Champagne kiosk.

Why am I more excited about this than anything else now? :lmao:

So I'll see you there? ;)

In Marianne Hunnel's interview with Deb Martin Koma, she spoke of a Grand Marnier Parfait - yummo! :cool1:

I remember reading about the truffle before my trip last year and searching for them in vain. The Grand Marnier parfait does sound intriguing! ::yes::

Thanks! Great tip on the parade viewing. I think I just may give that a try. Not normally a big parade watcher but with a frosty adult beverage? ;)

I hear lots of people talk about all the detail so I am looking forward to seeking it out. I will have to research DinoLand!

Glad I'm not the only one on the PB&J shake. Electric Lemonade has been noted! :thumbsup2

So AllEars posted an article/interview about the F&W festival. Some things I'm quite excited about:

A new dessert and... wait for it...... CHAMPAGNE kiosk!! :yay::woohoo::yay:

I am so all over that! Love me some Champagne :lovestruc

* See AK at night, if possible- just heard there are EMH on 10/1! Hoping to work that into the agenda, maybe? Honestly can't remember what I have planned on that day. :confused3

I too want to see AK at night. I looked up the sunset time for Orlando on that EMH night (which you now know is 10/2 not 10/1). Sunset is about 7:15pm, the park closes at 8pm so it will still be quite light out at 8pm. So I'm sticking with my orginal plans to drink with TK and CP at Epcot that night.

I'll be at AK on 10/2 for rope drop and riding EE first thing for the 1st time myself so if you need a buddy let me know. We can scream together. :scared1:

It really sounds like you haven't explored AK that much yet, but I highly recommend spending some time there!! As Disney Deeva said, it has so much detail, I think overall it is my favourite park! I am thinking about doing the "Wild by Design " tour on our next trip which is about the theming of AK...

Rope drop is really cute there, try to be there early so that you can be way up at the front of the rope to get a good view of the show and then get on Everest. And if you are solo, you will also be able to walk past a lot of people in the Oasis after the turnstiles by just moving briskly!

I think Everest is an intense ride, but not a scary roller coaster at all, so I hope you will enjoy it! There are two rides where I experienced everyone clapping and cheering at the end: Soarin and Everest. I guess that tells you a lot about it!

I highly recommend Lion King. I personally am not a show person at all, but this show is a must do on every trip for me! Finding Nemo on the other hand wasn't really my cup of tea, but it is definitely worth seeing it once. I just thought it was rather cheesy and lacked the humor of the film.

Definitely check out the shops at AK, I think they have some of the best shopping of all theme parks! Especially the shop in Africa has some really unique things, but the shops around the tree of Life are very good, too. I always end up doing most of my souvenir shopping either at AK or DHS...

* DeVine - know you can't schedule this but would love to see her. Is there a certain place that she's usually seen?

Every time I've seen DeVine she has been on the path between if you were walking from the Safari/African Village area (not up on my names I'm afraid) to walking up towards where you would find Everest/Asia area.

Yep, that is where we saw her too. There is a little area, if you are walk to EE, on the left that is an opening in the path with an obvious "backstage" area that is blocked off. She came out there. We just missed her show the first time, but the CM said she would be back at a certain time, I think it was 1:00 pm, and sure enough...there she was. So, there has to be a schedule, but they don't tell us...!! I wonder if you found a CM in that area if you could ask...

I haven't read that article yet from AllEars! I think that will make for a nice "brain break" tomorrow at work at some point. I can imagine what I would do if I were going during it! ;)

LOL...Champagne Kiosk...well if we get lost from each other at least we'll have a spot to meet up at LOL!!!!

OY I read the list of what they are serving at some of those kiosks and I think I have entered heaven...I cannot wait to try all of that food!!!!!

Somewhere some Disney upperup...smiled on me when they granted me the wish of EMH on 10/02...I cannot wait...EE at Night here I come...and I think if you are willing you should join me on it LOL!! It will be a great time!!!!

Okay I laughed out loud when you said you thought Dinosaur would be like Ellen's because they couldn't be more different and I could just imagine what you thought when you were getting off of that ride!!!

I would love to see Devine again too...I will definitely be keeping a lookout for her!!!

The Dawa Bar is that open-air covered area right in front of Tusker House -- you crest the Africa bridge and it is directly on the left. The Lost on Safari was my favorite drink of the entire week!

I thought of you as soon as I saw the article and the mention of the champagne kiosk! :thumbsup2

There is little in the world I :lovestruc more than champagne. And am such a cheap date I also enjoy a good prosecco!

Plans to drink with TK and CP on Fri night? Can I play too?! :flower3:

Rope drop. Never seen one. Not sure if I have that in me. But would love a buddy! :)

:woohoo::woohoo::woohoo:

Tiara and all. :thumbsup2

Clearly, I NEED a tiara.

Hi Floss! No, I really haven't fully explored AK. I am excited to do so. I hear from so many on the DIS who are big fans so I am excited to discover it myself. And of course it is so fun to do so with various DIS'ers stories in your head and to say this is so and so's favorite spot and this so and so's etc. :goodvibes

Thanks for the Everest info. I think I can do it. Especially if I promise myself a good stiff drink afterward! ;)

Your Lion King recommendation is duly noted. I think that will be my priority. :thumbsup2

Can't wait to explore the shops. I have seen some many unique souvenir reports!

:rotfl: Yes, a good bet that if you lose Christine you can find her at the champagne kiosk! :lmao: That is a great emergency meeting place!!

Even worse on my inaugural Dinosaur ride but I didn't realize it took your picture. I can only imagine how hysterical my picture was. I was seriously traumatized! :lmao:

I thought of you as soon as I saw the article and the mention of the champagne kiosk! :thumbsup2

Are you saying I'm building myself a bit of a champagne reputation? ;) There are worse things to be known for. :rolleyes1 I can't wait to experience F&W with you!!! :)

Will have to try Lost on Safari this trip as well. Think I'll take Disney Deeva's advice and park it for the parade. :upsidedow

Wish I could join you girls, this looks like a great trip....especially with champagne kiosks!!! :thumbsup2 Does it get any better than that! LOL!!:lmao: This trip was meant to be for you for sure, C!!!;) Can't wait to hear more!

Btw, hope you got out there this weekend and enjoyed some of our FANTASTIC weather! We beached it both days....ahhhh....nothing better!!! Other than champagne, of course!;)

Oh goody!

We are going to have so much fun!!! :goodvibes

Oh yes we are! I am still drafting the non disclosure agreements. :rolleyes1 What happens in Disney stays in Disney!

Sure you can! We're meeting in France at 700.

Be there or be...

oh never mind. :lmao:

I would say for sure.

Can't wait! Where would one purchase a tiara in Connecticut? :confused3

Yeah! One more for drinks on Friday night!

Just let me know about EE. I just wrote out my touring plans for that day. Planning on hitting EE at least twice :cool1:

Thanks for the DeVine tip! :thumbsup2 Enjoy reading about F&W. See ya there next year, maybe? :flower3:

Well....after booking the Podcast cruise Joe said "We HAVE to cut back on our vacationing."

To which I eagerly nodded and agreed FULL WELL KNOWING he would never ever ever follow through on that. Half the vacations we take are because he wants to! :laughing: Of course, I never ever oppose!

So, we are booked for December this year. Then December (Podcast Cruise) 2010, which we will turn into a land/sea.

October is our anniversary month and we really, really love it down there during this time.

So chances are yes. See you next year! :lmao:
