I'm sure it's been mentioned before but I can't find it, we are very fussy when it comes to bread and can't seem to find one that tastes like British bread, I think I remember somebody saying that the Cuban bread was as close to the British bread that we could get, does anybody know if this is correct?

Pete

Sorry I don't know the answer - we also buy sliced butter bread to put in the toaster - it tastes quite nice :)

Are you wanting it for sandwiches?

Thats right Samantha, mostly for sandwiches when where back in the room, we found some in Walgreens last year, not sliced but like baguettes but for the life of me I can't remember what make it was, I'm sure somebody mentioned Cuban bread but I could be wrong,

If nobody knows it will be trial and error time again :rotfl2:

Have you ever eaten a sandwich at Bongos in DTD? They use cuban bread for them. There is a walk up CS window as well as a TS restaurant.

I can't believe you prefer British bread. I have been back here for nearly 10 years and have still never found a bread that I really like. Are you looking for wholemeal or white?

What type of bread do you buy in England that you would call "British Bread"? I can may be help you find someting similar.

We picked up some breadcakes in Walmart 1 day for sandwiches - I found them to be fine just from round the deli section. Hope you get sorted. :)

The type we tend to buy here is Warburtons toastie white, The bread in the States in my opinion tends to be sweeter,

I agree, I always find the american bread too sweet, more like a brioche. We usually buy the italian sliced bread from the 'freshly baked section' in Publix. It's good for sarnies and toast, and not too sweet!:goodvibes

Another thumbs up for the italian bread in Publix. I cant stand sweet bread so we are always on the lookout for alternatives.

I agree about the bread being sweeter, same goes for bread in spain etc, but I just roll with it.

I don't find it bad, just different.

We didn't buy any bread last trip, just sandwich thins and bagels, both made for nicer and easier snacks anyhow.

Mmm! Love the bagels!:) What are the sandwich thins though? Are they like ryvita's?

No worries. :)

Just saw you live in Sidcup - I lived in Welling until I was 19.

My nan is in the Bupa home down from Sidcup station, so I'm still in Sidcup quite a bit.

I saw the thread and thought of Italian Bread straight away and then saw others offering the same advice. A vote for Italian Bread from me.

We too dont like the sweetness of bread over there, but found cuban to be a nice alternative! Will try the Italian now though!

Wonder bread or any whilte sandwich bread tastes the same to me as regular "English" white bread.

The Warburtons is very similar to Country white style, I would try would brands such as Arnolds or Peppperidge Farm, both VERY similar:) Good luck and happy lunching:0)
