Welcome to the CSR thread and our little family here. If you have any questions, ask away. There are many who will be more than willing to help. DH and I celebrated our 25th wedding anniversary at the CSR this past September (our 7th stay) and had a magical time.

Thank you KatMark! :goodvibes

HELP
staying at CSR July 12-16. Need to know what room/cabana/section to request in my fax. It seems that most folks like 8a or 8b Cabana. Should I also request a corner room while I am begging? Sounds like bus stop 2 is the ticket.
Any suggestions for this first time CSR quest will be appreciated.

I believe the first page of this thread has the sections broken down into conveniences and location. What works for some people might not work for you and yours. Take a look at where everything is and then decided what is important to you.

Bus Stop 2 (which is the first pick up and the first drop off) is actually by the Casitas.

Use this to help you decide where you want to be:

For adult couples, especially honeymooners or those celebrating anniversaries Casitas 4 or 5 with a water view is exceptional. Casita 4 has the quiet pool, fitness center, spa, salon, and both are close to bus stop #2.

For “leisure guests with children” here are some great locations; Cabana 8a, Rancho 7b, Cabana 8b, 9a, Rancho 6b, and 6a...in that order. Nearness to El Centro is usually of no importance to many guests. It's much more important to be close to the park bus stops and the “Dig Site”. Leisure guests may come to El Centro once or twice; but they will be at the buses twice a day (at least) and the pool often when they are at the resort.

For adults or large families who wish to be close to a park bus stop and to a “quieter pool” but are not interested in the theme pool, building 7a is great and has close proximity to parking.

Building 2 also is close to parking and usually one of the quietest buildings, especially from the 4th floor. The fourth floor of building actually includes part of the upper floors of building 3 and has easy access to the convention center by way of the elevator courtyard of building 1 (especially in a rainstorm).

In other words, there is no “best location for everyone”. Each building has its own plusses and minuses. The cast members will be happy to guide you into the building that fits your needs best……..if you let them know what those needs and expectations may be.

Also, for a reality check…….when there is a large convention……not everyone is going to get a room next to the convention center. In fact, most of the rooming blocks are set up by the group having the convention long before any of the convention guests arrive…… Sometimes, there is little cast member latitude on changing those assignments.

As always, if there are special needs that must be addressed, fax the resort a week before arrival. Be sure you are faxing to the resort and not to Walt Disney Travel Company, their booking agency. The resort cast is best able to accommodate special needs. Often guests call the reservation desk with these requests and do not understand that this is not the resort; but a central reservation desk for ALL of Walt Disney World. The fax number is available by calling Walt Disney World information and asking for the front desk operations fax number.

Cabana 9b is close to bus stop 1 and the main building with a short walk to the Dig Site (main pool) over the wooden bridge.

Cabana 8a is close to the Dig Site (and playground) and bus stop 4 with a short walk to the main building (closest to the pool).

Cabana 8b and 9a are in between the 2 above (9a has a quiet pool).

Ranchos 7b has a quiet pool, is close to the Dig Site and bus stop 4 with a bit longer walk to the main building. 7b is behind cabana 8a.

Casita 1 is attached to the main building and is very close to the restaurants.

Casita 3 has great courtyard and fountain views.

Casita 5 has some nice fountain and lake views and is close to the Dig Site but farther from the main building. Close to bus stop #2.

Hello. My wife and I are new here. Glad to be here. We are going to stay at CSR in mid to late august. Beautiful pictures of a beautiful resort. A couple of questions if you do not mind. Are the restaurants at CSR on the dining plan? Will the marina be open during our stay? It all just looks so great. We can't wait. 49 days and counting.:cheer2: CSR! CSR! CSR! YAY!
Had to do it. Thanks in advance for the answers. BTW, we will have our car as we are driving down from TN, any ideas on where to try and stay.:mickeyjum

First, :welcome::welcome::welcome:

We have a great "family" here and we welcome you into it.
Yes, all of the restaurants at the CSR are on the dining plan--including Siesta's Food at the main pool; yes, the marina is open until the first of September so you will have no problems there. When we used to drive from Chicago, we would stop in TN and then drive to Valdosta the next day (southern edge of Georgia) and then it took about four hours from there to Disney the next day.

Thanks KatMark
It sounds like the bus stop 2 might be a priority. Do you have any suggestions for a particular type room (corner) or not? Do people decorate their windows and doors at CSR like some of the other resorts?

Actually, we never use the buses--we rent a car and drive to all the parks. However, most people report that they rarely stand on a bus at the CSR going to the parks and a lot of the time not coming back either. However, if you want to be sure of a seat and are worried about it, then stay in the Casitas section. My DH and I always stay in Casitas 4 or 5 which is locate near the quiet pool and the fitness center/spa and close to Bus Stop 2. From there, it takes me about five minutes to walk to the main building (where registration is, the gift shop and all the food) and about eight to ten minutes to the main pool. I've never requested a corner room. I've always been happy with what they've given me. I've been on the top floor, the first floor, etc. We've seen some windows decorated, but not nearly as much as the values.

:woohoo: Now that's a savings :woohoo:

Hope you enjoy the CSR!!! Is the anniversary trip just hubby and you, or are you letting the kids come along as well??

We're letting the kid's come along. They are the product of our love and it's WDW so it's "Happy Anniversary" to us all I guess, lol. Anyways, hubby and I plan to take a quick getaway close to home in Nov (no kid's) so it's all good. I am still eyeing AKL but will probably keep CSR...hubby is WAY happy with the new balance. Thank you SO much!! :goodvibes

We stayed in Cabanas 9B and we just strolled on over to bus stop 2 in the morning. It was like a 5 minute stroll and it was nice taking in the sites. We never had to stand going to the parks or coming back. And we did get on at stops 1 and 4 before and it was just a tad more crowded but we still managed to be able to sit down. BUT, I have a picture right before we left that I took of tha MK bus and it was PACKED to the hilt at 8:30 am at stop 1!

We're leaving tomorrow!
And a little story... I rarely drive, so I usually take the train everywhere. Yesterday was the first time I drove in quite a long time and all of a sudden, right in front of me is a car with license place "CSR-238"! I kid you not! :rotfl:

We are downsizing our upcoming anniversary trip therefore I just modified from 40% pin @ Poly/SV to FD @ CSR/WV. I have never stayed at CSR however the resort looks very nice and the switch is saving us $1700 :) Anyways, looking forward to CSR & getting you know you all!

:welcome:

Wow, that is a great savings! So glad you've joined us - everyone is very friendly an happy to answer any question.

KatMark is our resident CSR expert; she is the nicest and best resource here (or just about anywhere when it comes to CSR and lots of other WDW info). :thumbsup2

Happy planning!! :goodvibes

We will be staying CSR in December and I see that the marina will be closed then. My DD really wanted to try the boats. If she has her heart set on it, can we do that at another resort? If so, which one would be best? Thanks!

I would recommend the Polynesian or the Grand Floridian because you get to use the boats out on Seven Seas Lagoon!

I agree. Personally, don't think it is worth taking the boats out at the CSR marina anyway...it is a rather small lake and you don't really "go" anywhere. You can explore on Seven Seas Lagoon and Bay Lake.

That sounds like a good idea. We were thinking of going that way one morning and checking out some of the holiday decorations and gingerbread houses at the hotels so we can do it then. Thanks!

Cool. We're leaving tomorrow, too! Thanks everyone for your help answering questions about CSR. I'll report back when we return on July 20th!

It is getting close!!!:dance3:
55 more days!!!!
Everybody in our Grand Gathering paid off the balance of there vacation yesterday so we are good to go!!!!!:yay::yay:
I am excited and nervous all at the same time. Excited because none of us have ever stayed at CSR before.
Nervous because it is unknown to me. We normally stay at SSR but when the trip party grew I switched to CSR to fit all the budgets. I know that it is just me as the rest of the party has never stayed anywhere at WDW!!!(The fear of the unknown I guess;))
