Does anyone have feedback on the connecting rooms situation at CSR? Generally I put one of my room requests NOT to be connecting, as I find the door is usually a weak spot in the sound-proofing. (I know it's never sound proof, but I prefer to avoid extra opportunities for hearing my neighbours.) Are many of the rooms connecting? Any worse or better than other hotels rooms with connecting doors?

I'd be interested in hearing about this as well, although we will be requesting connecting rooms...DH and I booked rooms and have DH, DS and DGpa in one room and Dniece, DGma and me in the other. I would think this request would be honoured, but I'd like to get a sense on how many connecting rooms there are...thanks in advance!

Room requests on our reservations aren't good enough?

First, remember it is JUST a request--not a guarantee. Some resorts throw the faxes out. The CSR does look at them--we've been told so numerous times by the CM's on staff. We just like to send it as a "friendly" reminder.

Well,it's official! We are now CSR'ers! :thumbsup2

Tell me, how is the Maya Grill compared to Boma's?

I'm in the process of rebooking some of our ADRs!
We fly in late afternoon and will be hungry, also using ME.
So we will use the buses and cabs to get around.

Thought it would be nice to eat at the resort the first night. :)

My DS and I just had the breakfast buffet there on Sat. and I thought it was pretty bad. The hash browns and potatoes were dry with zero seasoning of any kind (not even salt). The bacon was fairly good. I guess it ranged form bad to average. He needed some quick protein and it did serve the purpose! I just wouldn't spend the money on it again. Good friendly service though :goodvibes.

Great :thumbsup2

3 of the 4 of us have asthma...and smoke smell really bothers us.

Just keep in mind that not everyone follows the rules. We saw people smoking in lots of different places - especially walking around. My friend did mention a smoker to a CM at the pool and he was asked to stop. I don't think he was fined though. I don't think this is resort specific. We saw some of this at POR last Sept.

Just got back and I am sad to say this was not the resort for us. We did not get anything close to what we requested (wanted something in Cabanas near the front and got Casitas 5). I know - it is just a request but I guess I cannot understand why if you request something 8 months in advance (and send a fax) you can't get it? It is way too spread out if you do not have a car. The bus stop at El Centro was too crowded to always get a bus, never mind a seat, so luckily we had breakfast in our room after the first day and just got the bus at stop #2 (sometimes our bus was too full to even stop at El Centro, so I don't know how long people waited there). Once our bus driver went to Epcot instead of the resort, another time he drove right past the resort at 1:30AM calling it a "senior moment". Ate only 1 night at Pepper Market, and the server was so rude we would not go back. Basically threw the silverware on the table and snapped not to lose our tickets. We were not that wild about the food either. The Dig Site pool was nice, however tried to get refillable mugs there the first night, server said he was all sold out since it had been a hot day. He said they had them up at Pepper Market. I did not want to walk the 15 minutes up there and back to spend $27 on 2 mugs, that's for sure, so I asked if I could credit the price of 2 sodas against the mugs when I got up there. No. So I would have to pay an extra $5 for 2 sodas? I said why can't they send some down to the pool?? Which finally he said when he had a minute he would go up there and get some. My husband the next night saw the pool bartender tell a woman they were all out of the mugs again and she was out of luck. So my advice would be to be pushy if this happens to you. Housekeeping was not bad, however one afternoon we came back for a break from the parks at 2:00 and the room was not cleaned yet, so we called and told them to come back after 5:00 when we went back. The room was nice, the beds and pillows very comfortable, the ceiling fan was a big plus, as was the changing area when you closed the partition by the sink. Bell services got our room number wrong on checkout day, so we wasted over a half hour waiting for them to come get the bags. The ME driver back to the airport was very rude. We had a reservation at 3:45 but were there at 3:15 when a bus came. I asked if we were allowed on since we were early, she snapped Yes, get on the bus, snapped at my kids they had to empty their mugs, hurry, hurry. (This is a transportation issue but since it happened at CSR, it added to my disappointment.) None of these are major issues, I know, but added all together, it was just not what I expected at a moderate. I had really been looking forward to CSR after reading this thread every day but it was not the place for us. It just takes too much time to get around and get out to the parks, unless you have a car.

Sorry the CSR wasn't for you--but glad you gave it a try. Not every resort fits everyone's needs, but I'm glad you gave it a go. Hope the rest of your vacation was great.

Was there anything you did like? What other resorts have you stayed at that you like better?

As I said, we did like the room itself and the pool. It was just too spread out if you want to grab a quick breakfast and get to the parks. I think we got out quicker in the mornings when we stayed at any of the All Stars. I thought the food courts there had better options as well. But of course the rooms at AS were smaller which was the sacrifice. I guess I just thought I would have to sacrifice less at a moderate? And I thought the service would have been much better. We have also stayed at Old Key West, which also had the internal bus system, but it did not seem as overwhelmed as the CSR's did. We had an awesome time at all the parks though! The only downfall was a horrific thunderstorm while we were waiting for Fantasmic!, which caused it to be canceled (after we had gotten the dinner package, of course!). If you like a more relaxing, resort-oriented vacation, you might like CSR, but we are more into the parks.

Thanks for the feedback. Sorry it stormed on your Fantasmic.

I'm sorry about Fantasmic! That is really awful...especially since they only run it once or twice during the week now as it is. (:

Awww sorry you had such a rough go at CSR. Thank goodness Disney has a lot of different hotels, because one thing is for sure...each resort is not for everyone! I could never stay at a value again, walls to paper thin. Plus I think that the values are just if not more spread out as CSR. I go to Disney knowing I am going to get my 'walk on', either at the resort or at the parks...so that doesn't bother me. However, I did request cabana 8a or 8b on our upcoming trip, but I know it is just request and if we don't get it I won't be to upset about it. At least your family had a great time at the parks, except for the fantasmic incident.

The Magical Express drivers are not Disney Employees. I agree they are anything but Magical. i hope your next visit is better.

Sorry you weren't thrilled with your CSR stay. We stay off-site for most trips and for the first time on a family trip, we're staying at CSR starting next weekend with me, DH, DS13 & DS10. The buy 4, get 3 got us to try a Disney resort with the kids (DH & I have stayed at a few Values and Mods on our own), but we usually stay offsite in a townhome or condo so are used to lots of space on our family trips. We have to have queen beds and won't pay Deluxe prices, so CSR was our only Disney resort option!

We will have a car as DH & I even drive ourselves almost all the time when staying at a Disney resort. We've also requested Casitas 5 so would be thrilled with getting your room assignment, I'd guess! We don't plan to use Disney buses at all and don't plan to eat a CSR restaurants so we want to be close to parking and not too far from the main pool. How was the walk to the main pool? Was the pool crowded and was the water warm like bathwater or was it somewhat refreshing?

CarolAnnB, I'm sorry your CSR stay did not turn out better. At least you gave it a try and wanted to like it - I've done the same. POR and BC are ones that I'd not likely stay again, but so many love both resorts.

Sometimes, while wonderful sources of great info, I think it can be hard when we read resort threads filled with those who enjoy a particular resort - it sets our expectations higher than it otherwise might be. It's probably happened to lots of us - but it is worth a try as we never know when a resort will turn out to be a new favorite. :)

Glad you had a great time in the parks, even with the heat!! What a shame about Fantasmic!!

Thank you for taking the time to post a review! :thumbsup2

It looks like you'll be at CSR the same time we are (we arrive July 4). I posted here a few weeks ago that I was told by a CSR CM that they planned to put the Latin America (i.e. Brazil) tour groups in Cabanas 8A in July to keep them together (& not have them mixed with other guests any more than necessary, I assume).

We had requested Cabanas 8B, but didn't want to be that close even so changed our room request. (We were at WDW last July and experienced the tour groups at the parks, so we do have some experience with them.) Nothing bad enough to keep us away from visiting in July, but I didn't want to be in a building that would be in their path to/from transportation. 8B may be fine, but I'm guessing that you wouldn't be put in 8A and just wanted to share the info I had in case you wondered why you might not get the building you requested. :) Of course the CM may have had bad information or they may have switched the building they're going to put them in!
