Great photos, everyone!! Thank you!

DBLGRR ~ so sorry you did not stay in the section you'd hoped for. I know how disappointing that can be. Glad it did not spoil your trip though...wow...the noise of the frogs and bugs would have sent me in tears begging for another room location. Something about that sound has always terrified me and would not have been able to sleep.

Have also wanted to do a Wishes Cruise, but fear I'd miss standing in the middle of Main Sreet or sitting at the Train Sta watching - it is so darn enchanting. We did the IllumiNations Cruise once and it was okay - the smoke from the fireworks came back at the boats, which wasn't so much fun... ;) ...and it was absolutely freezing the night of our Cruise. Brrr... windy and about 30 degrees. Maybe it would be nice in the Spring or summer.

Thanks much for the review! :thumbsup2

jessandtwo ~ thank you for taking the time to post a review. I'm glad you enjoyed your stay despite a few bumps. I think it's rare not to have a few bumps at a Disney resort these days, so happy yours were not major and you handled them with ease. Sounds like a wonderful trip - welcome back! :goodvibes

We've considered requesting Ranchos because we like the very Southwest Desert theme, but think we will stick to Cabanas or Casitas and keep our fingers crossed!

We stayed at CSR from 6/8 to 6/15, and we had a very nice stay. My only complaint was similar to DBLGRR's - we requested a renovated room in either the Cabanas or Casitas, and we were placed in Ranchos 7B. We requested a room change for the next day, but we received a phone call on the morning of that day informing us that no rooms were available.

We had two connecting rooms, and we checked in on a Monday (rather than a weekend, when they turn over more rooms), so those factors may have affected the availability of other rooms.

Anyway, we determined that we wouldn't let the room location ruin our trip, but I have to say that our stay was less than magical, due primarily to the fact that they were remodeling the first two floors of our building DURING OUR STAY! So whenever we were at the hotel during the day, and even when we left at 8:00 in the morning, the building was crawling with paint crews, workers loading in new furniture, etc. Kinda killed the atmosphere, if you know what I mean.

The room itself was great, and I think we were the first to stay in it since its remodel. My main reason for believing that (other than the smell of fresh paint when we arrived) was the fact that the electrical outlet in the bathroom didn't work. We realized it on our first morning there and called housekeeping - by the time we returned from AK that afternoon, it was fixed.

We loved the resort - thought it was beautiful, liked the Pepper Market, etc. And if you have to be in the Ranchos section, 7B is probably the best building to be in - right at the quiet pool, two minutes to the Dig Site, right by bus stop #4. Just a long walk to El Centro, but not as long as other buildings in the Ranchos section. We had a rental car, and I used that for quick trips to El Centro a couple of times. We bought two refillable mugs, but getting refills was so inconvenient that we didn't get our money's worth from them - oh, well.

The bottom line is that we had a great week, and we will probably stay at CSR again (especially since it's the only moderate with an exercise room). But I object somewhat strongly to putting guests in buildings that are currently under renovation. I think it would be a much better policy to completely shut down the building and then reopen it to guests when its renovation is complete.

Thanks for the review. I'm sorry you couldn't get a different building. I am surprised that they had 7B open while they were doing the rehab. In every other case, they have totally shut down the building. :confused3

I'm glad you did not let it take away from your vacation and that you enjoyed your stay. Hope you got to use the pool. And we're with you...love that the fitness center/spa is there--I always get a massage.

Did you take any pictures? We don't have a lot on the CSR photo thread of the Ranchos section.

Showed those photos to my husband last night and he got so excited!

I'm the Disney fanatic but I do believe that by the time this trip is over he'll be too!!

Gosh, I'm sorry the resort was so full and you were unable to get a better room location. I would have been disappointed as well - but as you mentioned, more so over the work crews in the bldg than the room location. We can always find something good about a location, but work crews would detract from the feeling of being on vacation.

Nevertheless, sounds like your family made the best of it and enjoyed yourselves. Glad you had a great week! :thumbsup2

We were at CSR in Nov they were just starting work in Casitas and we had cunstruction noise in our romm in casitas 2 almost the whole stay from 8-5 during the day.

Hey folks!

DD and I took off from the parks today to do some laundry and play at the Dig Site pool. While the pool was wonderful, the heat and all the people made it feel like bathwater--not real refreshing. I think we'll stick to the quiet pool right outside our door. :)

After dinner tonight we will have dined at all the restaurants here. So far our favorite thing is the gelato from Rix cafe. I will say the walk to el Centro from the Ranchos is starting to annoy me-especially since I'm carless this trip. Being where we are facing the pool in 7b is a prime locale but still--the long walk is irritating.

I'll try to get some more Ranchos pics to share. No sign of Glen but we saw his fishy friends. ;)

I had a free dining bounceback ressie at CSR for Sept 26-Oct 4th. Yesterday I called to see if the Chase Visa or AP discount could beat it. The CM checked and said there were no standard rooms left for the Chase Visa (at any moderate, for that matter) for those dates.:scared1: She then ran the numbers for the AP discount. Unfortunately there were no AP discounts for a standard room for Sept 26, but it was available for Sept 27th-Oct 4th. I've already bought my flights, so can't change my dates. She did find a king room for the 26th. For the difference in price I was able buy the basic DDP for my one night stay on the 26th, upgrade to the DxDDP for the 27th-Oct 4th, and Disney still owes me $46.:cool1:

Anyway, my question is, what would be the chances that they may not make me switch rooms on the 27th? I couldn't care less about the king room. I just took it because there were no standard rooms available for that night with the AP discount. (my free dining room that I gave up was a standard room though and there are plenty of standard rooms available at rack rate) If I can stay in the same room, I'd just as soon be placed in a standard room that first night, instead of the King room I had to reserve. The CM said that she was going to make a notation on the first ressie to connect it with the second and I may get lucky. She also put in a request for bottom floor in the Cabanas for both ressies.

Good Morning Everyone ! We are leaving in a few hours....:cool1: I am in desperate need of the AC code for the room thermostats. I know it was posted somewhere but I can't find it through search and I really don't have time to continue looking because WE ARE LEAVING IN A FEW HOURS:scared1:and I still have so much to do !! Any help would be so appreciated ! Any updates on refurbs? We would like Casitas section... TIA !!! :flower3:

On the thermostat, push the power button and the down arrow (button that adjusts the temp) at the exact same time. If you do this correctly, you will see the letters "bp" where the temp normally shows. You are now bypassing the sensors in the room. You can then set the temp to whatever you want and it keeps the room that cold whether you are in it or not. You might have to do this once a day as the thermostat tends to go back to sensor mode after 24 hours.

Have a great trip!

Hope this works! Good luck and have a great trip!

Could someone tell me where the internet outlet thingy is located inside the room? I can buy ethernet cables for a very low price, now I just need to know which length to get.

Thanks!

Ok, I am trying to read through this thread, but I keep getting side tracked and lose my place, so maybe you can all help me.
We are staying at CSR for the first time Sept.6-12th- :cool1::yay:we have an almost 3 year old and will not be renting a car-
we have a few ADRs at other resorts and instead of taking an hour to get to them, we will probably cab it-
so can you give me tips and suggestions as to what buildings to ask for, how to ask, when to call, anything I am forgeting?:confused3
Thanks so very much!

Have a WONDERFUL trip. Bring back lots of pictures to share. Oh....Casitas 4 and 5 are complete and the 4th floor of Casitas 1, 2 and 3 (they've not yet started on the first three floors of those buildings; they are still working on the last Rancho building).

Sorry I don't know...my DH would shoot me if I brought a laptop to Disney. He looked at my son like he was a goof becasue he is taking his when he gets to the CBR next week. :scared1:

First, I would call and have the section you want noted on your reservation. Second, I always send a fax three days before our arrival indicating looking forward to our visit and we hope that we can be put in ******** section.

If you are going to be cabbing it to some places, I would request (but, just remember...it is ONLY a request) Cabana 9B or Casitas 1, 2 or 3 (being in these will be a slightly longer walk to the main pool). Castias 1, 2 and 3 are NOT yet renovated (well, actually, their top floor is). These are the last three buildings that are being renovated. However, the rehab is due to be done by October 09 and you don't go until September, so if you check back here frequently, we try to keep everyone updated on what buildings are done. Let us know if you have any other questions.

The ethernet cable was hanging in the closet last year when we were there.
I am taking my Sprint Air Card this year. That will be $70 Mickey will not get this trip.

I'm aware of the fact that there's supposed to be a cable in the closet, but I figured that it's less trouble to pack one than to have to get one at the resort if it's not in the closet.
Do you remember where the outlet is?

And to KatMark: thanks for trying to help! If it wasn't for my sister needing to check her work email on a daily basis, we wouldn't be doing the internet thing either.
