Fyi, I called yesterday and s/w special needs....they were great! They guaranteed my room and all of my requests...even a connecting room with my brother and his family! She said I don't have to do anything else and everything is set. It definitely takes the stress out of everything! If it wasn't for your post I would never had done that. I can't tell you how appreciative of your post I am. Thank you!! I LOVE this Blog!!!!

Minnie&Nana is great, isn't she? I'm so glad that she eased your mind on all of this.

Well we are back and I have to say I LOVED CSR and I do not know if I will ever stay anywhere else. I think I have also converted my parents to Disney lovers, my Dad is asking when we can go back.

We did have a few problems when we checked in they gave us connecting rooms which was nice, but not in an area we really wanted. We know it was a request and they thought it would be nice to give us connecting rooms, that is why they put us somewhere else. We asked if there where any rooms in Casita 4, which the CM had to get a Manager for, she did not understand what we were asking. So, after checking the manager gave us two water view rooms in Casitas 4, which was very nice of them. At this time I also asked them where I would go to get the water we had shipped and the CM told me that nothing was shipped to them. I said Thank you and went to check out the rooms and figured I would go back and talk to someone else, since check in took about 45 mins. to check in. The girl was very nice, but she really did not understand english at all. Even her manager had a hard time talking to her. So, now we head over to our rooms and one of the rooms was the wrong room and the other she told us was not ready and left it at that. No number to call or anything. So, I left my parents at the pool and hiked my way back to the check in. The lady I spoke with told me I was wrong that the rooms where right and that I have the info. to call when they were ready. I explained the rooms where changed and I was not given any numbers to call. I also explained to her that the manager was helping us and she said no you are just confused and not understanding me. So, after about 3 more mins. she went and got the manager who was very sorry and said she had been having problems with the girl we used to check in. She also found our water and said they now have a $20 service charge we have to pay when they bring our water to the room. However, she gave us a $20 credit for all our problems, which was very nice. At this time she also let us know both of the rooms where ready and that their was no need for use to wait to get into them. She said the water would be there in a couple of mins. so please go to the room to wait for it. About 5 mins after I got to the room our water arrived just like the manager said. I am pretty sure the managers name was Laura and she was great.

The pools are great and the walk to the dig site from Casita 4 was not bad at all. However, the quiet pool was not that way at all. They put up notices saying the pool was closed, but at 10pm and 11pm there were kids and a few adults running and screaming in and all around the pool. They also closed the pools a couple of times due to storms that were headed our way. It only rained once and the other storm passed by us. I do have to say I was surprised by how many people did not want to listen to the lifeguards and would not get out of the pools.

During the middle of the week a convention came in. It did make the El Centro and the Pepper Market a little busy, but it was not bad at all. So I would not really worry about any conventions going on. They really do not make that much of a difference. You see a few more people at the pools in the evening too, but that is about it.

My DH & I spent a few nights just walking around and exploring. There is so much to see and we loved everything. We thought the Cabanas were very nice, but there was sand everywhere, since a few kids where throwing it all around. It was like this everything we walked by the Cabanas. The Ranchos were very nice and pretty but they where so far away from everything. If you love the quiet and do not plan on going to El Centro often, they are a great pick. As for us we loved the Casitas and really think they are a great location. Every morning we went and got coffee and we really enjoyed the short walk, the walk to the dig site was short and the buses are rights there. What else can a person ask for?

We also got to see Glen all week as he is a big begger and was always at El Centro, we DID NOT feed him. I have to say he was so cute and we loved just sitting there and watching him. My mom and dad walk around the resort one morning and said they saw a much smaller gator then Glen. I thought they may have just seen him from futher away, but they said not it was much smaller. Later in the day a few other people also said they had seen a small and a lager gator floating around in the lake. So I am not sure but they may be a Glen and a Glenda around CSR. I have some pics, but I have not uploaded them yet.

The buses where great, we waited about 5 mins at the most. One time at MK we waited about 30 mins for a bus to come when the park was closing. There was a bus when DH, I, and a few other couples were walking up, but he left empty and did not wait. After that we saw buses for every resort but ours and we where there before the park closed. We loved the fact that the buses came often and we almost always had room for everyone to sit.

I have to say we had a wonderful stay and we all loved CSR. It really is a great place to stay. We had record highs all week and I was so glad to know how to set the AC to a lower temp. Now, I am home and could use the heater since we have record low temps that are at freezing.

If anyone has any questions please feel free to ask and I will try to answer them the best I can. Sorry this was so long, but I hope it helps someone.

Andrea, welcome back and thanks for your post. I'm so glad that you and your DH and yoru parents enjoyed your stay at CSR. I thought that "Glen" was a "Glenda". :rotfl2:

I'm glad they straightened out your room problem and you got our favorite section--lucky you.

Can't wait to see your pictures.

You are very welcome! So glad we could help. I had not been around for a few days (away for Mother's Day) and KatMark pm'd me to let me know of your post. :thumbsup2 We all try to look out for one another around here. :goodvibes

I am so happy for you and your family! I understand how it takes away the stress b/c I went through the same for years ~ never knew about Special Needs. Now one call to them and everything is great. For the future, just know you do need a reservation number as they do not make reservations, Some Dis'ers will tell you to ask the CM when making the reservation to call special needs for you, but in my experience, it is much, much better to call personally. :)

Be sure to tell us about your trip when you get back -and don't forget photos!! :flower3:

p.s. Should anything not be as expected when you arrive, just call Special needs and they will make things right. Take the phone number with you. It has never happened to us, but we still take the number along, just in case (they told me to do that). :thumbsup2

Welcome back! I'm so glad you all had a wonderful trip and enjoyed CSR.:goodvibes I wish more guests would handle an issue the way you did...we would have done the same. Everything was sorted out and you were able to get on with enjoying your stay.

Looking forward to seeing some pics!! :thumbsup2

Since were flying into Sanford we'll have a rental car for our week at CSR in August for Free Dining :cool1:

Looking at posts from I have made some assumptions of when it would be better to use car vs. bus and vice versa. But I'd like others opinion. Here's some of my assumptions/question:
  1. abut how long will it take to drive from Sanford Airport? we land at 1:00PM on a Thursday
  2. Magic Kingdom seems like better to use buses than rental
  3. Water Parks, Animal Kingdom, Disney Quest seem like an easy drive in the car...especially say if we go from AK in the AM and then directly to a WP for a PM
  4. HS and Epcot I read and been told drive over to Boardwalk or Beach Club and walk to either

My wife thinks I'm too anal an over analyze everything. But these forums make me feel that all my planning is normal. Any input would be appreciated.

Four more days unitl I can make ADRs  Those decisions only took about 100 hours of research!!

Question 1 -- I cannot answer
Question 2 -- DH and I drive to ALL of the parks--even MK. We are usually there very early in the a.m. and get a close parking spot and can walk to the TTC.
Question 3 -- What's a WP?
Question 4 -- DO NOT DRIVE over to Boardwalk or Beach Club and leave your car there. First, they won't allow it unless you do valet.

It takes DH approximately five minutes to drive to AK, Studios and about six to Epcot. It takes us about ten minutes to drive to the MK. Now, we've been doing this for years and years, so we know the roads. For someone who does not know the roads, it may take a tad longer.

WP=water park.

We also drive to every park and have no issues. Parking at the Beach Club or Boardwalk is not a good place to park if going to DHS or Epcot. As Katmark said you can only park there if you are staying there or are doing something at the resort and really it's more trouble than you think. Walking from BC or BWI to DHS is a long walk, much faster to park in the lot and take the tram, the boats are slow too. Plus walking to Epcot you enter by the World Showcase. So you have to walk further to get to future world than you would if you parked in the lot.

I really liked having my car at CSR. We found it easier to drive to the main pool when we were in the Casitas.

Just back today, and I'll post more later, but I wanted to offer input on your questions. We flew into Sanford and rented from Alamo. It was super easy. CSR is just about an hour from Sanford down 417. Google wanted to route me onto I-4, but the DISers on the transportation board and the people at Alamo said to take 417 all the way. It is a toll road, but there was no traffic either on a Friday afternoon or a Monday morning. Definitely worth the $5 or so in tolls each way to avoid I-4 traffic.

We almost never drive to the parks, and we never drive to MK. But we do occasionally drive to AK from CSR - it is very close.

As everyone else said, do not park at the Beach Club or Boardwalk to go to Epcot. Parking there is for resort guests. We take the bus to Epcot, but others prefer to drive.

More later - homework to get done!

" She also found our water and said they now have a $20 service charge we have to pay when they bring our water to the room. "

I've been lurking for a while... this thread is great. I'm planning a trip for 10 of us the first week of Dec. and have gotten so much information regarding the CSR from all of you. :cool1: Thank You! We're thinking of having water delivered from Costco... has the service charge gone up? I thought it was $10? or is it $10 per case of water?

thanks!

Can someone explain what to do to re-set the thermostat?? We'll be there in August!!!

Can someone explain what to do to re-set the thermostat?? We'll be there in August!!!

From Buzz's site: "On the thermostat, push the power button and the down arrow (button that adjusts the temp) at the exact same time. If you do this correctly, you will see the letters "bp" where the temp normally shows. You are now bypassing the sensors in the room. You can then set the temp to whatever you want and it keeps the room that cold whether you are in it or not. You might have to do this once a day as the thermostat tends to go back to sensor mode after 24 hours."

Minnie&Nana is great, isn't she? I'm so glad that she eased your mind on all of this.

She really is. I've definitely had some sleepless nights over this. But now I'm relaxed and ready to enjoy the trip. By the way I'm sorry to hear about your trip being cancelled. The great thing is you still can have a beautiful vacation!:cloud9:

Thank you for you review. It was very helpful! $20 service fee....Wow that's high!

I will post photos when I get back. That's a good idea. I just wrote the number down in my book...thanks again!:worship:

We got home this afternoon from three nights at CSR. I'm not really a trip report kind of person, but I'll try to hit the highlights.

We arrived at 4:30 Friday afternoon. I had requested Cabanas, faxed a request for Cabanas or a renovated room near the Dig Site, and did online check in. When I checked in (no line at online or the regular line :confused3), we had been placed in Casitas 2. My folder even had a sticker on it with my name and a note to check requests, which I had never noticed before. I asked the very helpful CM if she might have something available in the cabanas since I had requested that and I knew we would be spending time at the pool, and she went off to ask someone else what they could do. She came back with a room in cabana 9B! :cool1: Great location - close to the main building and Bus Stop 1 (which is actually the last bus stop), not too far from the Dig Site. The outside corridors were clean as well - the only bugs I saw were live and suspiciously two-headed. ;) The lovebugs were out, but not in force yet.

The room was gorgeous! It looked as if no one had ever slept there, although I'm sure they had. After reading some of the recent reviews, I was a bit concerned about cleanliness. I had my trusty Clorox wipes and wiped down all hard surfaces, the phone, the remote, etc. The wipes still looked clean when I was done, so there wasn't any visible dirt or dust. The beds were super comfy, and I love the new decor.

We are generally a pretty easy family for Mousekeeping - we clean off all surfaces to facilitate them being wiped down, I pile the towels all in a corner, I don't leave any trash lying around, we pick up food crumbs off the floor, etc. I can't stand leaving a dirty room. Mousekeeping was fine, but they didn't have to do much for us. We got clean towels and the beds were made every day. They might have done more, but I wouldn't have been able to tell.

The kids loved the pool. DH and I have stayed at CSR before, but the kids had only been to eat and to walk around. The girls wouldn't get off the jaguar slide, preferring it to rushing back to the parks. Last year at OKW, neither of my kids liked the slide. I think because the CSR slide is more open, they were less intimidated.

The Pepper Market was fine, but I did notice the employees didn't seem particularly happy to be there. I actually found that we could eat there for about the same as at many other CS places, which kind of surprised me since the Pepper Market has higher-priced entrees in general. The first night, we ordered two kids' pizza meals ($7 each), which came with a large slice of cheese pizza, an orange wedge, a cookie, and milk, juice or bottled water. I had a pizza and a fountain drink, and each of the girls got an apple. It was about $30. Last night, DD9 got the $8 egg roll (which turned out to be two egg rolls, at least) and an apple, DD6 and I split a pizza, DD6 had an orange, and we got two drinks and one water. It was less than $30 with the service charge. Our lunch at the Main Street Bakery and our dinner at Casey's also were about $30 each. Certainly, we could have each ordered $20 entrees at the PM, but we had plenty of food and didn't wreck the budget.

One thing I didn't like about the PM this trip (since DH was not with us) is trying to coordinate all the food. The kids' meals were ready right away, but the pizza takes about 15 minutes. I got them started, then had to go wait by the pizza station for my food. My kids are old enough to sit there alone (together), but it would be really hard with younger kids and only one adult.

There was a convention on Friday - we saw lots of people with nametags. The pool and the busses were basically empty - a side benefit of those poor souls having to work at Disney! The pool was much more crowded on Saturday - I guess a lot of new people had checked in.

We never waited more than 5 or 10 minutes for a bus, and we stood twice (both MK busses).

We are looking forward to AKL for our next trip, but we love going to CSR, and this trip was no exception!

I'm glad you had a great stay at my favorite resort and thank you for reviewing!!! We also love AKL, so have a great time there next trip. We're headed to CSR 3 weeks from tomorrow and I can't wait!!! We've stayed at many of the resorts including a lot of deluxe, but I still love CSR the BEST!!! :goodvibes
