This is my first post. Not sure of this is the right place to post this.

This will be my 5th trip to Disney World.
First trip, Disney Cruise/Honneymoon --Carribean Beach Hotel--tropical storms
Second trip (with kids) --unexpectedly 20 weeks pg at time of trip- stayed off site.
Third trip- stayed at Port Orleans Riverside- Hurricane Wilma hit while we were there. DH and DS x 2 were ill during the trip
Fourth trip- stayed at Port Orleans Riverside-had emergency neck surgery 2 days b4 we left.

I am trying one more time, I am taking kids by myself 8/26/09-9/3-09 by myself. My dh does not want to go. My 16 yr old son picked this resort because of pool. I also have 13 yr old dd and a 8 yr ds that will be celebrating his 9th bd while we are there. Want to make this a trip to remember for the good things, not the bad!!

What would be the best area to request for us. We plan on doing lots of swimming, but I also want to be near bus stops and food court.
Any help would be much appreciated!!!!

We just flew in today from our first family trip to Disney & our stay at CSR. We were appreciative that our request was honored and loved the location of our room.

We were in Building 8B at the Cabanas and can't imagine a more perfect location. We were literally steps away from the quiet pool & laundry facilities plus *maybe* a 1-2 minute walk to the Dig Site.

Have a great trip!

That would be the one. Keep it warm for me...won't be back until 2010.

Will do... Unfortunately, we probably won't be going back next year...My DH wants to go on another cruise, which is wonderful, but I will miss DW soooo much!!! :sad2:

DH and I've talked about that...but we've just never gotten around to doing a cruise.

Hi everyone! Well just about a week after we returned I was able to get my trip report done! Check my siggy for it :) There are pics from the resort in that thread as well. I didn't get to take as many as I wanted since the most of the time we were there, we were sleeping LOL :lmao:

It seems like forever ago since we were there and it was just a week ago! Thank you everyone here for such great info on CSR and to everyone on DIS for helping me plan a great trip for the fam! :lovestruc:lovestruc

I just read your trip report and posted there as well. Again, I am so sorry for the loss of your baby.

Awesome trip report. I'm off to look at the pictures now. If alright with you, can I copy some of the CSR pictures to the CSR photo thread?

Are there really alligators at CSR? I told my friend and she says the have to be fake. how do they keep the little critters in the lake and not at my doorstep to greet me good morning...lol How many are there? where do i look for them, i want to show my girls

If there is fresh water anywhere in Florida, there are gators. Please don't take your kids to go look for them. Bad idea!

That is exactly right.

Milk= (1) snack credit
Cereal = (1) snack credit

But why have cereal when you can enjoy a yummy cheese danish? Or a Blueberry muffin? Or heck, even a Mickey bar.....its vacation after all!!!:rotfl2:

yeah no way a bowl of cereal w/ milk is worth the 2 snack credits. give me a dole whip or a funnel cake over that anyday.

Yes, there are. His name is "Glen." And here are photos from someone who was just there (just look in the Lake in the middle of the resort:

sorry I didnt mean that i was going to like walk around all the lakeshores with some meat hanging around for a gator, i guess what i meant to say was is there like a bridge or something that you generally see them around just in case so if i am on said bridge i can keep an eye out. i am a big ol chicken so i would ever willingly put myself in front of a gator......now that being said if the husband acts up like he did last time I will be more than willing to throw his grumpy butt in...(course alst time he had just gotten home from irag after being there for 8 months and i only gave him 24 hours to get over his jet lag and join me in disneymania)

There is nothing wrong with taking your kids to look for them, as long as you don't actually get into the lake or get really close to one on the bank. We have so many here that there is actually a gator hunting season for a week every year to thin the population. They are actually relly nonagressive and would never mess with a human unless it was a small child in the water, and even then it would bwe highly unlikely. Most pople who are bitten are either trying to save a pet, mistaken for a food item while swimming at night, or are trying to wrestle a gator. As long as you don't get into the water you are perfectly fine gator watching. They are NOT going to chase you as long as you keep your distance and don't threaten them. Especally in this case since Glen is a really small gator!!

Sorry if I came off as preachy--it wasn't my intent. Princessmom is right, stay out of the water, and you'll be fine. I have seen people try to feed them at Disney. THAT is not a good idea.

Absolutely! We just returned today & saw an alligator Saturday morning. He was in a very dirty part of the water near the marina area where the little mini speedboats(?) were tied up. I'll post pictures once they're all downloaded.

We also saw several deer grazing near the wooded area along the road that passes the Cabanas area.

Yes you defintely may use the photos:thumbsup2

Bags are packed, online check-in done, airline check-in done, going to bed have to be at the airport a little after 6am, leaving at 8:05 in the morning for our first stay at CSR. :woohoo::woohoo::woohoo:

We have never stayed at CSR but are hoping to give it a try next year! Of course being a CSR newbie I have a few questions. We really don't understand Pepper Market because we have heard it is not officially Disney owned. Is gratuity always included? And how does ordering food work? Also how does the resort compare to the other moderates? Please help us get excited about staying at CSR :cool1:

GO FOR IT!!!!!!! Give it a try I know you will love it!

LOVE taking a cruise, as a matter of fact it was either a cruise or a trip to WDW this year and well, the kids won this year BUT next year back on the ship!!!

Just finished on-line checkin for my trip!

Strangely, under room requests they had a checkbox for a refrigerator. I thought fridges were provided at CSR? Software glitch maybe? :lmao:

Only 10 more days to go. The wait is killing me!

From what I have read, this is standard because the forms are generic and they need this box for the values because they don't get a refrigerator and need to check it if they want it and to pay for it. You'll have your fridge at CSR...no worries! :)
