Braces as an adult - help????

I also have had braces twice-- I wanted to add that you MUST wear your retainer for the rest of your life if you want your teeth to remain straight. Your teeth will migrate back if you don't take this part seriously. I am so thankful for my nice smile, I don't mind. The best food for me was peanut butter milkshakes. Plenty of protein and nice and cold. Use smooth peanut butter ;)

. The first couple of weeks were the worst and I also lost weight :cool1: I still have a hard time eating things- like biting into a thick burger or sandwhich. It will even hurt when I eat crunchy cereal. I will have oatmeal right after an adjustment.
!

my buddies laugh at me because I eat everything with a fork and knife b/c I can't bite into anything....it must look funny watching my cut a sandwich into little bits!

Wow I was thinking about braces but yikes. Im 38. Maybe the invisalign is the way to go. If I can afford it.

Be aware the invisalign can't fix all problems, and my ortho told me that the biggest problem is even when they can work they are designed with the idea the patient wears them 23 hours a day. Most people wear them far less [they are still a pain for eating, etc.] and the results can take far longer than having a mouth full of metal...

TO the OP - it totally sucks that your insurance co won't cover this. Our dental will not cover any aldult orthodontics. PERIOD.
