Boycott trades of Blackheart's Quest items!

We should definitely create an in-game union room.

This is just another slap in the face to me. Thanks a lot.

I put in so many hours of yelling, screaming and crying to finish this quest.
My father thinks I went crazy this weekend.

Now you suggest to make them buyable? Then my time and everyone else's who completed this quest will have been a complete waste.
Not to mention that I lost actual real money just so I could complete this nightmare of a quest.

Thanks a lot.

Maybe you missed the part somewhere on this forums where I spent the better part of the past three and a half days helping others get through pirates and mansion? My time is no less valuable to me as yours is to you, yet I'm willing to let everyone be able to have those items.
Yes. Make them buyable. Why should those who tried but could not finish be forced to pay a BLUE STITCH for those silver ears? You lost real money over a game? That was your decision, not anyone elses. It's just a game.
If you'll refer to the original post you will note I'm not dissing anyone who did the quest for themselves, I'm ticked at those who ran it through with mules to profit from others.

there was no way I was going to not work just for this quests, even if it meant not doing the quest at all. Real life ALWAYS comes before VMK for me. And I do suggest that others think about their priorities if VMK starts to come before real life.

I just want to say that I WHOLEHEARTEDLY AGREE with my good friend Mims yet again. I would like to see these items be released so that more players have the ability to give it.

I said this on another thread, but I'll say it here as well. I would love to see VMK release TDM in a quest that is challenging but acheivable, and give folks a good chunk of time to complete it. Let kids work towards beating that quest, and have the satisfaction of knowing that by working at it, the earned something that they wanted. That is a great life lesson.

As for the other items, release at double or triple the cost of regular items. Make people save for them. Make them earn them. But make those costs achievable.

I am appalled and disgusted by the way that players in this game have valued items. The greed in this game leaves a sour taste in my mouth more than the errors VMK makes running these events.

In reality, these items are just pixels on the screen. They have no real value. When and if VMK closes, our inventories goes away with it.

So I say release these items. Let everyone have a chance to earn the items that they want to enjoy. My experience on VMK isn't going to be any less enjoyable because a few thousand extra people have treasure detector magic or silver ears.

As a matter of fact, I would enjoy VMK more if more of my friends could enjoy Treasure Detector Magic, and Inferno, and Black Mansion Suits, and whatever other rare items the want.

After all, in the future, it's not going to be the fact that I had treasure detector magic or inferno that I'm going to remember. It's going to be the experiences I had and the friends I've made along the way.

Not that I'm advocating some of the high value items that people are asking for, if someone wants to give a blue stitch for silver ears, that's also their decision.

Just like it was my decision to not trade away half of everything I have for Inferno before it was available through DMR.

If someone values those silver ears over their stitch hat, that's their business.

While I feel deeply for those that couldn't finish the quest, why do people always want to punish those that did?

I would love to see everyone have an opportunity to get everything. But I would want it to be quite a while before they are.

Also, I know several people who said they only wanted 1 or 2 of the items for themselves from the quest. And they only managed to complete it once. So why punish those people who want to trade the rest of the items?

Things are valued by the individual. It's their choice on what they are willing to give up for something else.

As for me, I valued my 71 hours of highly stressful quest playing above a couple hours of low pay. Again, my choice to leave. But only because VMK decided to stop the quest 10 hours early. Otherwise, I would have waited until tonight to finish and stayed at work.

I don't think that my 57 hours questing are any less valuable than anyone elses that completed the quest, while I did not. I chose this morning to help others get through pirates and mansion because THAT is what I felt was important. I thought that 2 hours would be more than enough time for me to get up to speed on Jungle Cruise again, but sadly, I was 2 minutes too late.

I don't think that I should be punished for choosing to help friends, so yes I think stuff should be buyable. At least those that completed the quest have 75K in their bankroll to help them stay ahead.

Hugs girl!!! That makes me so sad to see this. I think the stuff should be buyable for this purpose. People who worked so hard to help others get by only to get stuck at a game where teamwork cant help only patience, practice and skill get you through. (Also patience for dealing with Ned flapping his lips - here is a tip for the future, small post-its work wonders and have the sound off.);)

Well said. And this is why everything should be available to all. So many attempted and didn't make it, why should they be punished for trying? Thank you and hugs, so sorry you got so very close...

The other solution, of course, is for VMK to launch another massive quest each of the next few weekends, with similar and somewhat overlapping prizes.

BTW, who other than me thinks that TDM will be non-tradeable before the end of the month?

:rotfl: :rotfl: :rotfl: If he complimented me on my photography ability one more time without passing me past 45,000 I would have punched the monitor. I was over 44K and under 45K so many times I could cry. (well I did, but that's not the point!)

Thanks Dis. Yours is the first post that has made me laugh out loud today. I needed it. Sorry my response is so off topic. I just needed the release.

As I posted this in another thread...
I completed this quest a few times for me and my family.
all the while helping some 25+ ppl get past pirates and killing myself trying to get all through each time before I won myself.
12 hours a day sat and Sun and 5 today.
so because I had a plan, and was good at the quest and put others before myself I should be punished by working my behind off all this time for a reward that ANYONE is going to be able to get????
If I want to trade silver ears for stitch that is my perogative.
If you dont think it is a fair trade then dont make it.
they are virtual items in a virtual game how do you judge worth?
a stitch hat aquired from booking a $5,000 vacation (requiring ppl to have money) or my 30 hours of persistance and hard work playing this quest.
YES I DO think that silver ears are worth blue stitch!
I am sorry that some of you did not get through the quest but it was NOT impossible as you can see...
Many made it.
many did not...you were forwarned that it would be like that.

I don't really understand how anyone can think there could possibly have been a bunch of mules run through. The sheer logistics of it would be staggering. They're supposed to coordinate with a team, try and KEEP six or eight people on that team (way easier said than done), brave the queues and constant gridlock, finally get a game going and possibly get the 575, but more often falling short and having to go through the process all over again for another game until they finally succeed...and then do all that AGAIN on multiple mules? All in that short little time frame? I just don't see it. I'm sure it happened a few times, but there's no way it could have been widespread. I personally had been planning to take my son's character through it as soon as I got mine past pirates, but there was no way on earth I could have done it in the time allotted. Several other parents and grandparents have said the same thing. I only know one person who managed to get an additional character (NOT a mule, a family member) through, and that person was extremely talented at coordinating the teams and walking everyone through what needed to be done. He also helped about 20 others through, including myself. Oh, yeah...and he gave away several of the prize items from the one and only set that he received. This person showed the most amazing selflessness and concern for others through the whole debacle, and I am absolutely in awe of him and so proud and honored to call him my friend. You know who you are.

Did I see mules? Yes. But EVERY SINGLE ONE of the mules that I knew of were being used to fill out teams so that AI wouldn't have to be played. And the people running those mules were working twice as hard as the other players, because they had to keep two ships going at the same time. They were NOT the ones whose turn it was to win, either...I can't even imagine how anyone could go about getting their 575 if they had another ship to deal with on top of the winner ship. The mules were in the game for the sake of the team.

The vast majority of trades I see going on are because there are items that the people trading them want more than they do the items they won in the quest. Plain and simple. I'll probably trade a few of them myself, because I just don't have a use for every single one of the items, and I make no apologies about that. The rarity of the prizes doesn't really interest me, but on the other hand, I will make no apologies for getting as much value out of my trades as I can. It would be silly not to. Yes, some of the items are going for ridiculous amounts, but that's how it's always been, and that's how it always will be. That's an economy, virtual or otherwise. Is it ridiculous that silver ears are going for blue stitch? I don't know...is it ridiculous that blue stitch is worth however many mansion clocks or firewalls or red rocking chairs it's going for? I don't know...is it ridiculous that people are willing to trade their entire inventory for a single red rocking chair just because it's red, rather than buying a purple one? And on and on. But who's to judge? If two people mutually agree that a trade is fair, it's fair.

I truly wish everyone who tried could have gotten through the quest. I understand the frustration and the hurt over this quest, but it's really better directed at VMK for their terrible mishandling of it than at the people lucky enough to have gotten through.

Thanks GreenieMimi

:scared: :scared1: No! I have real life stuff to do!

Never said it was impossible, just wanted to help some friends this morning to try to give them some happiness to also beat the quest. I misjudged the time by 2 minutes. My bad. And I think your wife forgot to log off again ;)

no actually, she was on her computer..... lol

Dont take what she said personally, it was a broad statement designed to cover many bases, not nessecarily pointing out others.

We were talking about it tonight and we think VMK should have ended the quest for NEW questors, but left it open for those who had already started it. All day.

First off, I would like to say that I truly feel terrible for the people that really tried to make it through the quest, but failed. I worked for 3 1/2 days straight helping put people through, as many of you have. It was an adventure/nightmare none of us will soon forget :thumbsup2

But I am honestly quite offended and hurt to hear people say that they are "sickened" and "disgusted" by those that are trying to trade their quest items for such things as blue stitch. Why should these quest items not be as highly valued as stitch or sparrow? Does it sicken and disgust you the amount that those items trade for? And, if not, I would really like to know why you are so sickened by people trading the Blackheart quest items, but not offended by what others ask for items such as blue stitch.

In my opinion, which obviously many will disagree, the Blackheart quest items were the most difficult items to obtain in VMK history and, therefore, should not surprisingly be some of the most valuable. Why should blue stitch, which was a bonus for booking a DLR trip (hey, you're lucky enough to be going to DLR - there's your bonus :rotfl2: ) or sparrow (you got lucky entering a code, whether it was your 10th try or your 1,000th try), be considered more valuable than the Blackheart quest items? After the countless hours, tears, frustration and joy that was endured to obtain these items, IMHO these items have more heart and soul than any item currently in VMK that I can imagine.

While I have always wanted a blue stitch, I never dared dreamed of getting one unless it went on sale, as I am severely lacking in trading abilities and could never afford the outrageous price these were going for. But now, with my Blackheart quest items, I may some day get that furry blue hat. However, in all likelihood, I will never part with my quest items, as I worked too hard to get them and they hold very special memories of great friends and fun times... I'll wear those silver ears like a proud battle scar

So, if you had the stamina, ability, and downright luck to make it through the quest... go ahead and trade your items for whatever you want, regardless of what others say! You earned them - be proud!

:rotfl: :rotfl: :rotfl: Too funny. I totally thought it was you!

I totally agree with your comment about ending it for any new starts. I think that would have been reasonable.

LittleMermaidsMom, you said exactly what I was trying to say, but much more concisely and just way, way better. :worship:

You da woman!!

That is what I've thought too. At least let those poor souls who started be able to finish the darn thing!

LittleMermaidsMom: ITA!

I wouldn't mind the stuff being sold at some point, just not any time soon. The memories of that nightmare are way too fresh!

I see nothing wrong with somebody trading their quest items, to try and get something they dont have. If they formed a team of 6 players and were organized from the start and all of them got through more than once, good for them and trade away.

It's the ones that lied to other people and said help me through and I will help the rest of you get through, only to never show up again that I hope get scammed out of their items.

Why should somebody just give their quest items away, I dont see threads giving away stitch hats, or other rare items. If I missed them, sign me up I still have a long list of things I dont have. This is the exact thing that happened during dreams month.

And saying the rich get richer, dont you mean the rich want to stay rich and not give up their riches? Because I am not rich and I made it through. And I made sure alot of my friends got through, atleast the ones that helped or did put forth some kind of effort. But I would not trade any of my rare quest items for some lame offer to someone who hoards up everything in demand.

So let's level the playing field and ask vmk to break out the rest of the high demand stuff including blue stitch hats, sparrow outfits, etc and put them in the shops for sale.

I know some people did not get finished with the quest, but there are also people who did not get lucky in the sparrow game, or can afford to book a disneyland vacation, so what is the difference? A high demand item deserves a high demand price, I learned that straight from this site. If you dont like a price that is asked move along I do it all the time, I guess that is why I don't have alot of high demand items from trades.
