This is making me sick! I'm seeing people asking for Blue Stitch for the silver ears. I propose we boycott the quest item trades. I'm seeing rich people only getting richer, and taking advantage of the fact that they muled a difficult quest that so many never got through. Let them keep their 5 or more TDM and umbrellas. Boycott the trades, and their items are worthless. Anybody with me?
I was able to get through the quest once, with a LOT of help from MANY friends. I only hope I didn't inadvertantly help someone's mule along their quest for spares...
Mims, while I understand the sentiment behind your idea, I don't see much point to it. The demand for these items and the unreasonable tasks VMK created for the quest are really two separate issues.
Judging whether these items were acquired with mules or not is tricky, as is trying to qualify what players should do with them. We had the same situation with the Dream ears during Dreams month. Many chose to gift their extras to other players, because they felt the ears should be used in the same spirit with which they had been given. That was a generous act, just as any other gift is a generous act.
But the Dream ears, just like the Blackheart quest items, mean nothing in themselves. Or more accurately, they mean different things to different people. If there's a demand for them because they are rare, I can't see what's unfair about players trading them for something else they want. I think once the excitement has died down, people's heads will be a little clearer as to what they are willing to offer for them.
I would love for these and everything else in VMK to be buyable, personally. And yes, I own one very hard-earned set of Blackheart quest items. But I doubt that VMK is going to change the "rare" aspect of the game.
If it's any comfort, those who opted not to waste their time on this quest and instead spent the weekend buying Ned's specials are in a very good trading position right now, since all of the good stuff folks were going to spend their TDM credits on is gone.
I'm not at all happy with the way VMK set up Blackheart's quest, but the best way to protest is by writing to them directly. It doesn't make sense to hold those who won responsible for righting the wrong.
