I requested a 30 point add on last week for BCV and got it two days later. My credit card was charged the standard $500 (which now gives me another $5 towards food in April!!)

Today I received a letter indicated that the remaining $2350 was due in 9 days. Funny, I thought I would receive papers to sign first. I remember that I had several months to pay for the initial 210 points. I can easily send over the money due but for those of you with add ons, did you receive any papers first to sign before paying the full boat?

Add-ons under 50 points are on a "cash" basis. They've usually put them on our credit card right away.

Papers should be there before then and you have a time line to turn them back in. I would bet these two dates wind up being either the same or very close together.

I have always just charged the entire add on so I don't know how it normally works (My guide has never even suggested just the $500 on a 50 point add on)

The balance for our 100 AKV points was due a lot faster than our add ons had been in the past.

However, this time I did get an extra call from them just being sure that I understood everything. This additional call came just before the closing.

I think they were fast to take the money too! The initial deposit showed up on our credit card almost immediately. Then we received our paperwork on Monday (3/5) and received notice on Thursday (3/8) that final payment was due on 3/13!!

They are going to have to resend the paperwork becuase we asked for 2 60 point contracts and the original paperwork showed up as one 120 point contract, but the money's still on it's way out!!

As they say, Cash is King! So then that will give me another $23.50 towards food in April. With about $400 in Disney rewards so far looks like we can spend almost the whole week there at this point without shelling out for food. Free food, Free villa, all for $975 in maintenance and whatever the airplane gods want to charge us for the honor of stepping on their foodless flights!!

What happens if you want to finance it? I'm on the waiting list and they can charge the $500, but I want to finance the rest.

I don't believe anything under 50 points can be financed.

Hmmmm, we could have just done that but the guide did not mention anything other than the $500 charge. No big deal. The fact that we got the points in only two days was great at the current rate of $95.

Can't really use the extra points this year unless we figure out how to use 30 points for two nights Christmas week. Even in a studio that might be tough.

I've added on 14 times - never financed. In every case the full amount was charged to my credit card immediately (& the points were in my account, long before receiving any paperwork).

For my AKV add-on, I earned $162 in Disney Rewards (used the Disney visa), which will go for incidentals on my "free" solo dvc trips. With lodging paid by dvc, park passes already covered (annual), and the rewards card for everything else, I can't afford to stay home, lol!:rotfl:

If there is an issue making payment (it didn't sound like it, but if), I think you can work with DVC on the date the rest of the "down payment" is due. I bought an add on during the AKV madness and because they were running a little slow, the package didn't arrive until the morning I was headed out of town for a week. I called the 1-800 number, explained the situation and they said they noted it in the file and I didn't have to return the funds until the week I returned home. FWIW, my guide indicated that I could take several weeks to get the funds back. You should, however, get the HUD statement before you send off funds since you will want to make sure that their numbers are correct.

I am so frustrated, I asked for 30-50 points at BCV 2 weeks ago and I am still waiting and was told I could wait for up to 6 months.

Well, Congrats on getting the points!

It all depends on which UY you need. Someone could need, say, Dec UY points and get them in two weeks. Someone else might need Aug UY points and end up waiting several months. It all depends on what they have available when you call and what comes in (via ROFR) while you are on the waiting list.

Have you looked at the list of people who are on the waiting list for points? It also lists those who got them and how long they waited and might give you some idea who else is waiting for points for the same UY that you need: http://www.disboards.com/showthread.php?t=735842&page=55

Corpcomp will be using his Disney rewards ($400 he said he had) for paying for his food. I will be doing the same in May and probably Nov since right now I have $1178.00 in Disney rewards. You earn these off your Disney Visa. 1% for every $100. spent.

That is right on. It just happened that there were Feb points available which is my UY but I understand other months (June) are very hard to get, as a comparison. We take Spring break in April so it works our well for us,

That is right. Since I use my card for all my business and personal charges it puts about $35 per month into rewards or about $400 per year that can be used to pay for food or other purchases at Disney. There are three of us and we typically spend about $500 in food costs over five days, assuming one really nice meal. I never got anything off of my other Visa so I consider this a freebie. Only catch is that you can only use $750 per year.

You cannot earn more than $750 per year in rewards but I don't think there is a cap on how many of your reward dollars you can spend in one year.
