I was beginning to wonder if my formal dress for Princess night was going to be too formal. It's poofy and fantastic. Dan says there is no such thing as being overdressed. It would be okay on HAL, but I haven't seen too many poofy dresses in formal pictures on the DISboards. But if there are tiaras, my dress is perfect. I don't think I'll bring a tiara, but I might bring my vine head piece. princess:

You'll look great I'm sure the dress I bought today is very poofy so you won't be the only one princess:

Finally caught up! :worship: I've only been gone a couple of days. It looks like I am going to have to go back reading these posts multiple times a day! :surfweb:

ibouncetoo - I will join you in the cove cafe on those blustery days!

::yes:: :thumbsup2

Too bad the Magic hasn't had the Cove Cafe area upgrade the Wonder had...they are going to need all that extra 'adult' space for us on this cruise!

MikeAndNick,
We are in the same situation. We have heard (but not personally checked on), that yes, we do pick up our luggage at the airport and bring it to our room, and in the morning, put your luggage in front of your door with the DCL luggage tags on them. And they will be picked up for you so that all you need to bring to the DCL bus is yourself and your day bag.
Maybe we will see you at the hotel.

This is the same information we have recieved.

Nobody answered this question and I am curious also - what is the earliest time that the DCL busses leave the airport for the cruise terminal?

TIA!

"they say" not till 10 am BUT this past cruise we got there at 9:45 and the first 2 busses were pulling away! I would have been there earlier but they told me the check in counter did not even open till 10 - so this time I will be there at 8:30!

I just got off the phone with Disney because I had the same question. Busses start at 10:00 am and the last one leaves at 2:00 pm. The buses do not have a set departure time. When the bus is full it leaves. They always have a bus waiting to leave to the ship, so as soon as one leaves the next bus starts loading. We are from the west cost and want to sleep in so they recommend to catch the bus at 1:00 pm and not wait until the last one at 2:00 pm.

FYI: The other question I asked them. My Disney package has us flying in the night before and staying at the airport hotel. We cannot check our luggage all the way to the ship. We have to keep or Disney tags, get the luggage at the airport and put the tags on before going to the bus. So the sort is we have to deal with luggage at the airport.

I think if you take your luggage tags and flight information to the hyatt desk when you check in the bellmen will go and get your luggage - call and ask them about that - but you will also need to tip for that - depends on how tired your are.

Are you using DCL air w/ the free night at the Hyatt? We are on the west coast and used that service I think 4 times out of our 7 cruises. It's great to have that complimentary room thrown in, & having your luggage with you that one night isn't much of a hassle because the Hyatt is actually IN the airport. Just claim the bags & get the elevator up to the Hyatt lobby. It turned out to be good to have the bags too, because the weather was shifting & we could access some things we didn't know we'd need yet.

We did it all on our own a few times too, & maybe saved a bit, but nothing beats that convenience...of course flying out of LAX we also had very reasonable fares & non-stops so we bypassed some of the pitfalls others have experienced with Disney air. lol

We had to have our bags outside the door by midnight & that felt bit weird, given only some of us were doing that, but everything worked like a charm & we were free to go grab the bus to the port sans luggage.

:thumbsup2

That is what I thought I heard somewhere.

I told DH about your cool trick & he is so excited. he wants to leave Animal Kingdom Lodge at 7:30 am. I'm thinking that's a bit early!! LOL

TRIVIA QUESTION ... for our newer DCL cruisers:

Disney-philes, or Disney Cruise junkies will likely know the answer, so please, if you are SURE you know the answer, PLEASE withhold your answer for a day or two, until others have had a chance to make a few guesses. I'd like to see how imaginative some of our newer guests can be ...

Question: What do YOU think is the most technologically advanced area / object / device / area / *thing* on the Disney Magic?

The only clues I will give at this point are as follows:
1) Is is not a human being
2) It never leaves the ship, not even during dry-dock
3) It is ALSO on the Disney Wonder
4) It has been on the Disney Magic since it's 1998 Inaugural Cruise

Hotel room for Saturday night in Barcelona - Best Western at the airport

Flight from Washington Dulles to Tampa - my favorite airline Southwest had a great deal to Orlando so I took it and will have my friends there keep our car. Even driving from MCO home we'll get back earlier than the other flights .... $40 cheaper each!!

Now to start packing! :laundy:

Should I be packing princess dresses for my dd's for the Prince/Princess Night? I have formal dresses for them (regular dresses)...so it would just be for theme night. Will others be wearing them? I'm sure we don't NEED them, but dd5 would want to if others willl be doing it.

--Someone mentioned earlier, that DCL does not book flights on Southwest. I wonder why? I was watching Home Makeover tonight, and Southwest was the sponsor!

--At risk of starting a war over dress ... the answer is quite simply, YES! Lots of people dress up for Pirate Night. If you or the kids will enjoy dressing for Pirate Night, then by all means do so. There is no dress code mandating Pirate garb. There are little trinkets, bandanas, and miscellaneous pirate paraphernalia that can be purchased on the ship, in one of the gift shops as well. I am not sure, but I *thought* they may have sold tiara's as well. Does anyone else remember if they've seen tiara's being sold on the ship?

If they saw just one other girl in her dress, would they be sad they didn't have theirs? And how many times do they get to be princesses?

If I had one, I'd want to wear it. :goodvibes

I'm 31 and went on a mission today to find a dress that made me feel like a princess because like Lynne said how often do you get to be a princess. So I'd say if you have the room for them I'd try to bring them along so your girls feel special.

I also have a pirate outfit for the pirate night :flower3:

Here is a a link to my draft of the Awards Ballot:
http://docs.google.com/fileview?id=...DMtOWQ3Yy00NjE2LTkxOWItMGY4MmNiYTZmNTZk&hl=en

This doc is a PDF and not editable by you, but I am happy to take suggestions, either here on the boards or via PM.

Thanks for checking out. Going forward, I will include the link in my sig.

I love this ballot!!!!! Looks great!

Suggestion: Wait a bit longer to finalize it, more people might enter their stateroom doors. Make a deadline -- one you're comfortable with -- and see if anyone else entered the competition by that date :)

Hi everybody
1st - all you veteran cruisers - have you noticed a store in Port Canaveral (or even in Orlando) that is full of seashells? You know the kind I mean - touristy, chockfull of cheap shells?

2nd - Did someone say a while back that Johnny Depp's character (sorry - my brain is refusing to contribute the name Captain something) greets folks at CC? Would it be worth it to have my ds in his pirate stuff for a photo op?

3rd - is anybody out there of the LDS persuasion and interested in meeting up for a Sacrament Meeting after CC?

Thanks. My goodness it got dark early tonight...
Ann

Back in 2008, we got to the airport around 8 am. We were staying near the airport so it was a 5 minute shuttle ride. Much to our surprise, the DCL desk was checking us in complete with KTTW cards and boarding numbers (our friends got #2 and we got #3). It was such an easy process. Apparently they only do this for a limited amount of time. :) We were on the bus by 9ish (when they are full, they move um) and were delighted to get to the port in time to take pictures with Mickey and gang.

Last year we went to Port Canveral the night before so don't know if they are still doing this early airport checkin. Just wanted to put it out there and see if anyone has done this before.

Unfortunately they are on every corner in Kissimmee!

The Captain Jack character is on Castaway Cay and is worth the photo op pirate:

Sorry but no :littleangel:
