Next on my "to do" list is our pirate: taxes! :headache: I usually wait until the 15th of April because I do want to give them anything sooner than I have to but this year I'll have to do it sooner. :rolleyes1

Ok so I have a question about the gym. At my gym at home your not allowed to wear "street" shoes so I have a pair I only wear at the gym. On the ship can I wear the one pair of tennis shoes I plan on bringing or do I have to have my actual gym shoes? :confused3

I plan on bringing one gym outfit in the hope that I'll actually see and use the gym :rotfl2: but was curious about the shoes.

Thank you for all the great information! It looks like I will just have a high drink tab at the end of my trip.:headache:

My dh bought a handle bottle of rum on the way to the Radisson and packed it in the middle of his suitcase with no problem. He orders cocktails at dinner but he also likes to make his own with Coke from upstairs.

April 10 forget the rest of the world exists
:thumbsup2

Should I be packing princess dresses for my dd's for the Prince/Princess Night? I have formal dresses for them (regular dresses)...so it would just be for theme night. Will others be wearing them? I'm sure we don't NEED them, but dd5 would want to if others willl be doing it.

Ugh. I don't want to haul princess dresses in our luggage but I know they'll want to wear them on Princess Night. And I know that if I don't pack them they'll want the $60+ ones from the shop on board. :sad2:

Question: What do YOU think is the most technologically advanced area / object / device / area / *thing* on the Disney Magic?

The only clues I will give at this point are as follows:
1) Is is not a human being
2) It never leaves the ship, not even during dry-dock
3) It is ALSO on the Disney Wonder
4) It has been on the Disney Magic since it's 1998 Inaugural Cruise

I would think something on the brigde or engine room but that is to obvious.....
Hmmm i think the computergame where you can be at the bridge in the kidsclub.....

I hear ya, I turned mine in last week. Of course if I owe too much maybe I'll stay in Europe.:happytv:

All this Tiara talk is making me want to shop ....have never been a tiara person but maybe I can start. Never too late for princesshood!princess:

Steve ...this is a guess...but I had a tour of the bridge and the navigation/auto pilot system that guided the boat was pretty darn impressive. But then again, maybe it is a coveyor belt in the kitchen or the plumbing for all I know:confused3

Worked all weekend... CT Saturday, DC Sunday...feel like a piece of toast!:crazy2:
Just breathing in between cruises...

Thanks for the Tax reminder ....still have to do state and local.
Have a great day!

I finally got my Castaway Club membership # and want to log in on the site but it keeps getting an error.......
Anybody else that has the same problem or does everybody just get into the site??

I have a similar question....I actually don't want to even bring my tennis shoes since they are so bulky and I don't use them except in the Gym. I was hoping that I could just wear my Merrells in the gym to walk the tread mill and whatever else. They will be sturdy walking shoes with similar tread as my gym shoes---so I'm not worried about how it will affect my feet--just the rules of the ship related to "gym shoes".

Hi everybody
1st - all you veteran cruisers - have you noticed a store in Port Canaveral (or even in Orlando) that is full of seashells? You know the kind I mean - touristy, chockfull of cheap shells?

2nd - Did someone say a while back that Johnny Depp's character (sorry - my brain is refusing to contribute the name Captain something) greets folks at CC? Would it be worth it to have my ds in his pirate stuff for a photo op?

3rd - is anybody out there of the LDS persuasion and interested in meeting up for a Sacrament Meeting after CC?

Thanks. My goodness it got dark early tonight...
Ann

1. I wonder if Ron Jon's surf shop would have some. Its huge and sells every kind of beachy thing you can think of. But I can't remember seeing them there myself....

2. Captain Jack Sparrow, yes they usually have picture opportunities with him on Pirate night and on Castaway Cay in front of the Flying Dutchman. It is usually only during certain times, so keep an eye in the navigator for when he will be there if you want to catch him. :)

3. We are, and that sounds like a great idea. As long as I don't have to prepare a talk. LOL

I love this ballot!!!!! Looks great!

Suggestion: Wait a bit longer to finalize it, more people might enter their stateroom doors. Make a deadline -- one you're comfortable with -- and see if anyone else entered the competition by that date :)

Thanks! I will definately hold off on finalizing in order to collect more participants and suggestions. I went with PDF because the Word doc wasn't displaying the fonts correctly. I will repost periodically as a reminder. Shall we agree together on the deadline so you will have time to make awards? :goodvibes

Ann - Captian Jack can also be found around the atrium during pirate night for photos, FYI.

I was able to log in with out a problem this morning. The DCL site can be SOOOO buggy.

This is why I was checking to see what others were doing. Honestly, we'll probably toss them in. At this point, what's one more thing?! Dd5 will love it and dd7 would do it if everyone else was---but might choose not to if it looks like it is mostly the younger kids.

We have tons off the $20.00 variety from Target that have been played with by both dd's and all of their friends for several years now. I'll just pick the two that seem like they will compress the most. Maybe I'll bring the Jasmin outfits as they seem to fold up small since they don't have any tulle in them.

P.S. I think we'll have our Alice dress with us as well since we are going to 1900 Park Fare at WDW one of the days before the cruise. Isn't there a character breakfast of some sort on the ship? Who are the characters?

Yvet. Does it tell you that it is not a valid number? We were having that problem with my husbands CC# and called Disney. When he created his profile on the Disney site he put his name as Mike since that is what everyone calls him (unless he's in trouble:)) When I called the disney help desk they explained that everything had to match exactly what they had in order to access the site. In our case they had his name as Michael. So she walked me through verifying that everything was exactly right and then no problem logging in to the site. Hope this helps.

I picked up a cute princess crown at the Dollar Store. Look where they have the kids stuff. Most of them will fit an adult. I have a lot of hair and it fits ok especially for the little time I will be wearing it.

Those of you who listened to my saga about no upgrades and paying top dollar for our room, the story continues. I got a call today from special services because I requested some medical tests for my husband while on board. The lady asked if there was anything else she could help with and I went into my story. I even told her how rude the reservation people have been to some members of this board. She totally agreed with me and gave me another email address to write to. I just might do that but I am sure it would be another black check against my name.

To all that are hoping to watch the launch of the shuttle, just a word of caution. On the radio this morning they said that there was a hydrogen leak found. They are trying to repair it out at the launch pad but if it is unable to be repaired out there they will have to haul it back to the VAB and do the repairs there which might delay the date of the launch. Just wanted to give you all a heads up.

When i go to the DCL website i click on Castaway club then i need to log in, so after i log in i need to put in my castaway club #.
I tried both (mine and my husbands) and i keep getting the same error:
Internal Server Error - 500 Error
We are sorry but the server has encountered an error and is unable to complete your request. To remedy this error, please try to refresh this page. If the problem persists, try again later.

I would say try again later today and if it still doesn't work call Disney. There could be a setting or something on your computer that needs to be switched.

"they say" not till 10 am BUT this past cruise we got there at 9:45 and the first 2 busses were pulling away! I would have been there earlier but they told me the check in counter did not even open till 10 - so this time I will be there at 8:30!
Krisann

Thanks again for the great info Krisann!

TRIVIA QUESTION ... for our newer DCL cruisers:
Question: What do YOU think is the most technologically advanced area / object / device / area / *thing* on the Disney Magic?

I'm going to guess that it's the water filtration system - to turn seawater into drinking water?

My husband's guess is that it's something to do with the productions onboard - the stage or lighting.

.
There are character photo ops every night (I think) and during the day especially at the Mickey Pool. Guest services should know and I think it is posted in the Navigator.
.
Some little girls have their pictures taken with each princess every opportunity and in a costume that matches that princess.
.
The character breakfast has the Fab Five and a few others like Chip and Dale, sometimes Lilo and Stitch. They come around to the tables for photo ops.
.
So, will others have costumes? Probably.
And, will some kids have several costumes? Probably.
What do your families do? Whatever you can negotiate with your kids.
.
Know full well that those of us whose kids and grandkids are not with us will be enjoying yours enjoy their trip.:goodvibes:

Best to save the pirate costume for the Capt Jack photo opps on board the ship and not have to wear/schlep it to the beach. There will definately be a session with him available on pirate night.

Yep, that was my problem and solution also. So check your profile info on the DCL websit and make sure it matches the exact name you give to the cruise line when you book a stateroom. Also, when you are on the website and click on Castaway Club, you won't need to input your number once all that info matches. If you have trouble doing it on your own, just give them a call and they will make your profile match for you.

Yep, my list for this week is TAXES, go on line and notify post office to hold my mail, contact bank and credit card company to notify of travel plans. Oh, and shop for new gym shoes...lightweight and black...wish me luck with that!
