Boston MLS stadium thread

No. Frankly, as resident of Everett, the last thing this area needs is something like this to make an even bigger mess of traffic. I fervently hope this is never built.
Where should the NE Revolution build a soccer stadium in the Boston area in your opinion realistically?

Everett is very crowded and traffic is really bad, area can probably use the jobs though so it is tricky. Foxboro is nice, I was at a soccer game there a few years back and it was fun, the whole area is geared towards the stadium and the space is there. The bump of jobs won't help the people who need it most if it isn't in the city easily connected by trains and ferry so tough one.

They could eliminate the traffic problem if they are just banned from building parking spots at this site. Besides most of those fans are too sloshed to drive after a game anyway.

Where would the parking go? It could work if there were shuttles or a sort of monorail to parking that gets a discount with tickets in a different town to spread the wealth & tax proceeds so there would be an uptick in entertainment spending in two towns, maybe Malden? Could work with careful planning and bring a lot of money North of the City.

There is the Silver Line which is an airport dedicated means of transportation so there is a precedent.

If you don't have any parking it will eliminate the traffic problem. You could still access the stadium via other transportation modes.

So you believe they can build a giant sports stadium and people simply won't drive if a parking lot isn't built with it?

Can't say I believe that will be the way it would turn out. I suspect it will make a snarled mess and parking there will go through the roof as wealthy ticket holders buy spots from homeowners who will then move their cars into the streets, spot hero and such would take over and residents would probably end up squeezed:(. The only thing humans can always be counted on to do is to find an exploit of some kind so they get their way.

None of the stadiums in Seattle have large parking lots. The land is too valuable to be used as parking. They do have some but you need to make reservations and get on a multi year waiting list to use it. The transit options are excellent and that is how most people get to the games.

Seattle has a much different regional personality than Boston, hope is nice but dunno if I'd hang an establishment on it ... ;)

You forgot the best video that depicts Seattle personality to a T. This is from Portlandia but it fits for Seattle as well...

LOL Those were perfect. Is that really accurate of Boston nowdays? Isn't South Boston filled with million dollar homes now days?

There are lots of yuppies as well but the born and raised are everywhere and I totally love them, lets call it an infused population. IF I find myself sitting near a bunch of workers I always linger to hear them talk amongst themselves, it is a unique perspective I find enjoyable.

I do marvel at their trust when walking across the street, they step out like no SANE NYer has ever dared to step in front of a car. When I'm near traffic I expect drivers to be aiming at me for getting in the way but in Massachusetts people step in front of cars like Daenerys Targaryen steps into flames....& I just stare. NO-ONE is gonna tell them where they can or can't park ;)
