Boston Area DISers--looking for a good volunteer opportunity this summer?

Then have I got JUST the thing for you!!!!!

I do a bit of volunteer work with the Jimmy Fund. On Friday August 27th, WEEI and the Jimmy Fund are teaming up for the 3rd annual 'Radio Thon' to raise money for the Dana-Farber/Jimmy Fund.

It's an all day event, takes place at Fenway Park, and it's pretty cool actually.

I worked it last year, answering phones, and taking pledges. I did not take the phone call, but was working when George Steinbrenner called in, and pledged $10,000. As much as we dislike the Yankees here in Boston, I thought that was an AMAZING gesture by the man.

I just got my email today, asking for volunteers to sign up. So, I thought I would float it out to my DIS-kin to see if anyone else might be interested. If you are, just PM me and I will send you the link to sign up.

It's really a terrific cause, and hits even closer to home with me this, as my MIL has just finished up her treatments (chemo and radiation) at the Dana.

Unfortunately I cant help you out, Debbie, but it does sound like a cool event...and for a good cause too. How funny is that about George Steinbrenner!

Pledging and PAYING are two different things....

Dang, if it wasn't DD's move-to-college day I'd definitely be in. A mini-DISmeet ..at Fenway no less... a great cause....WISH I could be there!!!
