Borrowing points vs. paying cash

Hopefully someone can help us figure all this out!

We purchased 25 points at OKW (Oct use year, with all 2006 points available).

We have two friends who have never been who want to go this year with us for the Epcot F&W Festival. We would really like to stay at the Beach Club in a studio (realizing there is a queen and a double bed pull out).

Our dilemma is
1 - whether to rent all the points

2 - OR should we use our 25 and rent the rest

3 - OR should we use this years 25, borrow next years 25 and pay the rest or rent the rest???

If we go with option 3 could we pay cash for, say a Friday night and the points for Saturday, SUnday and Monday and bank the remaining 4 points for 2008 (since we'll borrow our 2007 points)? Is there any kind of discount for DVC members or AP holders for that matter?? Would I have to wait to figure the least expensive option?

Which of course leads to another dilemma...how often is there availability at the BC for late Sept to early Oct? Should I worry about that?

I'm sure I have a lot more questions that I will post as I come up with them. This is our first time using DVC so I don't really know how to approach this.

If you really want to be at BCV for F&WF, then I would rent the entire ressie from a BCV owner so you can book ASAP. You can have the owner transfer you the BCV points or find someone with a ressie for your dates. A member can transfer their BCV points to you, allowing you to make and control the ressie using the 11 month window.

Then I would rent out the 25 OKW points to help cover the costs of your BCV rental/transfer. I would only borrow to rent in rare instances but that is something else to consider.

Or

You can book OKW studio at 11 month using all current points and borrow and then at 7 months, try to switch or waitlist for BCV. It will be difficult to get BCV during that time, but not impossible and worth a shot.

I'm always the guy who says he never has problems booking 7 months and under. The one exception to this is during F&W Fest. and wanting to stay at BCV or BWV. My guess is you are already out of luck. Those 2 resorts fill up at around 8 months. I tried for either of those 2 last year during F&W at 7 months to no avail. I agree with the previous advice of trying to get a BCV owner to book it for you now. If you wait to 7 months you will out of luck. The other option I'd use is to book it NOW on cash. Try to find an owner to rent points from ASAP and then when it is booked cancel the cash ressie. I'm a little confused with the 25 points? How and where did you land a contract that small and is that all the points you have? At any rate good luck with this.

When you do your cash versus points comparision you should call MS to see if they have the 25% DVC discount available if you are staying in the room.
