Bored with DHS

We love HS, but I agree with you OP that the QS option (and TS for the most part) at HS are the worst of the four parks and DTD. They really need a decent QS location.

Since we are being so honest here with what we detest, i just have to say that I detest people posting about my post when I'm responding specifically to someone else.

That being out in the open now, lets talk. Obviously I missed the whole boy band thing because I don't recall the post that *I* was responding to saying anything other than the teen vibe making them cringe.

And OF COURSE I was being sarcastic. You didnt get that, Really???!!

And I don't get the boy band arguement thing anyway, because the day I unleashed my very own teenager on the poor unsuspecting visitors to DHS (sarcasm here, in case you didn't catch it...) there was no band In sight, so obviously this doesnt happen every day. Maybe people creeped out by teens should do their planning homework and avoid this park on boy band days. (No sarcasm meant here whatsoever!) But my teenager absolutely adored DHS...it was his favorite day, so I am happy that the teen vibe helped him have a good time. Teens deserve to have fun too, with things that interest them...like the pp said - they don't mind MK for litltle kids, but DHS for teens makes them cringe? My question is WHY?? Teens need quality family oriented places, too, or they WILL end up in the gutter. Make more sense now? I don't care for Disney Jr or Whinnie the Pooh, but
It doesn't make me cringe thinking that I might have to walk past the huge line of toddlers
I also want to add that I detest people who make a blanket statement without further explanation that teens make them cringe at Disneyworld, but since that wasn't you, then I'm not referring to you.

Have a nice day!

Sorry but you're tarring all teenagers with the same brush. Not every teenager is your son. I agree every time disney trys to be cool and with it they fail and fail hard which is why I enjoyed attractions they weren't gearing towards me last time more enjoyable. Rocky roller coaster is areosmith (what teenager knows about them now??) The tower of terror is the twilight zone(i found that cool but I don't think they were aiming it at teenagers). I bet all the money in the world these are the attractions teenagers are most interested in and these rides aren't geared to them??(are they)
I was 18 the last time I went to disney world and I really didn't enjoy MGM as much as i did as a kid(little mermaid show, beauty and the beast were the rage when i first went in 1999 and I was 7 years old but now they're blah and old. I also went when I was 16 and 14 and just as equally found it dull and boring. This was 2009 , 2007 and 2005 and from what I can see it hasn't changed at all apart from new star wars simulators. I found all the shows boring and yes I loved Rockey roller coaster and tower of terror(not as much as I use to since they changerd it though) but what else is there for teenagers???? Nothing. I find sitting shows boring at that age. I can appricate it now more. My favourite park was magic kingdom when I was 14 and when I was 16 and 18 it was epcot because I found all the future stuff cool.(love tomorrow land too)

Maybe it's just me that doesn't get how MGM became the teenager park lol when it has nothing for teenagers apart from american idol...(theme wise)

I don't hate DHS. But it needs some attention. I love movies, so you'd think this would be my favorite park..but no. I have found that watching the street shows is fun, and there are a few rides that I love( RnRC, ToT, TSM and ST).

I really wish that they'd bring a Star Wars themed land to HS. I think it would be very popular, and would give Universal a run for its money.

I definitely agree with this post 100% I have a 16 year old daughter who wasn't interested in visiting Hollywood studios at all. We planned a day there on our last trip to check it out and after we had done rock n roller coaster tower of terror and toy story mania she was asking to go to magic kingdom. I didn't feel the "teen vibe" others have mentioned and I certainly don't think my daughter did either. My daughter doesn't know Aerosmith, has never heard of the twilight zone, and has never watched American idol. I also agree that this park definitely needs some help and quite a bit of it to.

We don't skip DHS, but last trip I just went for 3 hours.. booked some FP+ for TSM and Tower. Then we walked on Star Tours since we were there... but my time at DHS has been declining each and every trip.

This sounds almost exactly like my DH and myself. We also like Toy Story Mania and Muppet Vision 3D, but we are fast paced when we tour and we have all the good stuff out of the way fairly early. Though there are some great rides it is the least favorite of mine, and that includes California Adventure (pre Carsland).

I'm always amazed that when people make lists of what they do at HS, those lists rarely include One Man's Dream. After all, isn't understanding Disney's history part of appreciating Disney. No, One Man's Dream is not a thrill ride or a glitzy show, but it's Disney at it's core.

For some, though, it's hard to find the time to do it, or once they see it they don't want to see it again. So for many it's not on a continuing must-see list.

But people are allowed to post based on posts.

The person was responding with their understanding of the teen vibe in DHS. Their understanding (this is my understanding of their understanding) is that it's a boy band feeling, or the music played, that causes the vibe.

You are seeming to understand the previous poster to say that they find teens creepy. And that isn't what was said. They said the teen *vibe*. Not the teens themselves.

And the other poster said that MK was a family friendly place that their teens liked, so you don't have to have whatever it might be about DHS to attract all teens. I personally have noticed that when something is seemingly geared for teens (or done by teens, like Hannah Montana) it actually attracts little kids or preteens. It's when something is done by 20somethings that it's attractive to teens (and sometimes when a teen wants to be 25 that can feel creepy!). So when I'm in DHS my kid/preteen is in heaven, and I'm feeling bad for the teens who are likely finding it all dreadfully embarrassing. But obviously people are different! :)

DHS hasn't interested me in many, many years. If it wasn't for ToT, RnRC, Honey I Shrunk the Kids Playground (for my daughter), and visiting with our streetmophere friend Norma, I wouldn't even bother going. This next trip I'm motivated to do a meet and greet with Wreck-it Ralph. But other than those, it's so boring to me.

We definitely consider it a half day park!

Usually rope drop, hit up all the headliners (ToT, TSMM, RnR) do stuff like Muppets, GMR, B&tB, grab a cupcake at starring rolls, and then head out over to Epcot to spend the day meeting characters, and hop back to DHS at the end of the night for Fantasmic!

We love HS but agree that it needs life. TSM, RNR, ST, and TOT are great. Great movie ride is fun. DD's can't miss LM or B&B. My DD6 rode RNR for first time and it is now her favorite. Just wish I could have gotten another fast pass. We rode first thing and after there was a 80 minute wait for the rest of the day. Since only 6 she can't do single rider yet. Our third fast pass was at 1 PM and the RNR and TOT fast passes were gone. I like the old system better...

We did meet Venelopy and Wreck it Ralph. Wished they had stamp like Incredibles. No signatures... DD6 loves Venelopy and was jumping all the way from Pizza Planet to meet and greet.

I agree. HS is my second favorite park but I feel like I am doing the same thing over and over. Pizza Planet and Sci Fi are the places we eat. We usually only spend 1/2 day there.

How about Starring Roles over by Brown Derby. Great location, good food, great place to people watch. Try it you will like it!!

:thumbsup2 Absolutely! My family would love that!

HS is our "rest day" park We know we will be done there by late morning, and can then take a good long break.
All we are doing there on our upcoming trip is Star Tours (2-3 times), ToT, One Man's Dream, a cookie from the Writer's Stop, and then maybe Muppets, TSMM or the PotC one (maybe). We might go back in the evening for Fantasmic and the Osbourne lights after a long break. And that's it.

If we had to skip a park entirely HS would be it.

I've got two teenagers myself so save holier than talk. I've noticed this difference between the parks so effing excuse me for pointing out about DHS. Now I'll be on my way to boo Santa and not help the little old lady cross the street. Good grief.

SEE333: "Teen vibe - very true. Shame on Disney for wanting to do something for teens. Teens don't need a fun, family oriented place to spend time with their parents and sibs...they should all go back to hanging out on the street corners and in the gutter where they belong"

Yes I agree. It's painful for me to see Disney try so hard to reach them so overtly. Let the product bring them in naturally much like they do with the other parks. I just think it's awkward and over the top but get the marketing aspect but it's teens who beat to their own drum.

To the bolded: this is exactly why I'm so, so glad that the High School Musical parade got the axe. I don't know why, it just didn't seem to 'fit'.

I don't think I could ever skip DHS, there's just too much I like to do there (ToT, Star Tours, Studio Backlot Tour, RnRC, Fantastmic!, etc), but in all honesty, I've never spent a whole day there. Never done rope drop - I prefer DHS in the afternoon/evening. I usually arrive around late lunchtime, and leave after dinner/Fantasmic. I also really like shopping along Sunset Blvd at DHS, too.

RE: High School Musical Parade.. sorry to get OT

Maybe its a regional thing, but HSM did not appear to be targeted at teens. The average age of fans in my area was the 6-8 year old's.

When she was 6, my DD memorized every song, watched every movie at least a dozen times. Teens that I know thought the movie was silly. Participating in the dance at the end of the parade was the highlight of her trip (even if Vanessa wasn't there)

I would suspect the parade is gone because the HSM niche is now being filled by Teen Beach Movie (Disney appears to be distancing themselves from Zac Efron and crew).

This is our first time coming to Disney but I'm surprised wtih the comment as there seems like so many great attractions....Muppet 3D, Toy Story, Star Tours, Lights Motor Action show, Little Mermaid, Great Movie Ride, Beauty and the Beast, Studio Backlot Tour, and some neat animation and more adult things. We almost booked 2 days at DHS (with only 5 full days at Disney), but ended up staying with one. We have a son and daughter and certainly can fill our day.

I think you have to keep in mind that many on this site have been to Disney multiple times. I have been 4 times in the last ten years and I am likely below average for visits for people that post on this site. Because of that many of the shows at DHS are no longer as interesting or are not on must do lists. A first timer will really enjoy most if not all the shows. But just like any other show after you watch it several times it no longer becomes a must. Perfect example is Indiana Jones. 1st time I saw it, the show was great. Lots of great surprises. 2nd time not as much. By about the next time I will likely only see it if I am with somebody that has never seen the show. Doesnt mean it is a bad show (in fact as I described it is a great show the first time) it just means the surprise element is gone. The one show that likely has people coming back again and again at DHS is Fantasmic (though my DW did not overly care for it the first time). I and my children would definitely go back to it.

It's our second favorite park, right behind Magic Kingdom. We love it. I'm always surprised by the responses to those who don't like HS at all. But hey, everyone has their own tastes, and I can't argue with that.

Everyone has their own tastes. Some LOVE, LOVE, LOVE Epcot, which for our family is 4th of the 4 parks. (although it's growing on us)

I think more could be done with this park, but I(we) are not bored with DHS. We generally get to WDW once a year, and because of that we rarely(if ever) stay in a park from dawn 'til dusk. But we still find plenty to do at DHS, part of which is not running from one attraction to the next and spending some time to take in some of the 'streetmosphere' performances that pop up spontaneously on Sunset and Hollywood Blvd. In our earlier days we would rush past them to get to the next attraction or grab the next fast pass. Now we stop, grab some popcorn and/of frozen lemonade and enjoy the show, which are usually very funny.

Other than the nutty, inexplicable blocking of the iconic Chinese Theater view by that dumb hat, DHS has a special place in our hearts. It is relatively small and easy to traverse, filled with street entertainers that are a blast to watch and interact with, exciting and interesting rides, heat parades, great shows...it is a must do every time we go (and we are waaaaay over 50 visits now!).
