Hmmmm.......I booked my cruise directly thru Disney & got a catagory 10 room on deck 2. Because this is my 1st Disney cruise, I am not sure whether or not it's a good deck. Because hubby is scared to death of being near the water, I asked the CM if there were any catagory 10's available on decks 5 or 7. Unfortunately, there weren't. Lo and behold, I take a look at expedia's website, and they had many catagory 10's available on upper decks for the same exact sailing date.

Also, just talked to a friend who also booked a catagory 10 from a local travel agent, and she got an upper deck.

What am I doing wrong????

You need to use a travel agent who is well-versed with cruises in general, Disney cruises specifically. I would recommend Dreams Unlimited (on this site), but there are also others.

Travel agents have access to information that we do not. They can also possibly get your cruise at a better price than Disney would price it directly. I would check on having your reservation transfered to a travel agent.

There are only 6 Category 10 rooms on deck 5. The rest are on decks 1 and 2. The ones on deck 5 are the secret porthole rooms, they have a window that the view is obstructed, so they sell at cat. 10 prices. Personally (and realize we have only sailed once) I enjoyed the cat. 11 we had. They are located on decks 5, 6, and 7. They have about 20 sq. ft. less which amounts to just one bathroom, instead of the split bath. My dh, dd(10), ds(2) and I enjoyed the room, and never felt tight. We are sailing again, cat. 11 on deck 7 in october............

Translation: It is very likely that the few category 10's not on decks 1 and 2 were in fact sold out, as a lot of people covet these rooms as a "good deal".

Nevertheless it is a good idea to book through a travel agent, especially you have one you want to stay in business. They don't make much money on airline tickets these days.

My fiance and I booked our Honeymoon cruise through AAA. We got everything we want with them.

I'm a little confused about the reply saying where the category 10s are. We have a category 10 on deck 7 (room 7005). It's shown as adjoining, and I think there are about 6 or 8 of them in that area (it's pretty far forward, in front of the forward elevators). We booked through AAA (transfered our category 11 hold from Disney and AAA uped us to a cat 10 for $100 more for the family of 4, threw in the drink mugs and $100 credit).

Short answer is to try around, it can't hurt!

tkd lisa is right....so sorry...there are about 9 cat. 10s on deck 7 forward. Hope I didn't foul up any plans....:(

Get a quote from DU- they are terrific! The price will probably be cheaper & maybe they are offering rebates. You can have your DCL ressie transferred to them. They will send you a quote in 24 hrs. Click the link above on the banner.

good luck!

We booked Cat 10 on Deck 2 (room 2077) on our first cruise and liked it so well that we booked the same room on our next cruise. We picked this room because we felt it would be not be affected as greatly by rough seas. ?? We never heard any outside noise during the whole cruise. My only complaint would be that sometimes the elevators were slow - so we just took the stairs to deck 5 and the elevator to the higher levels.

For our next cruise I checked prices through AAA and Dreams Unlimited and found AAA slightly cheaper because AAA offers trip insurance based on the price of the room for the adults and the kids travel insurance is free. They use the same insurance as Disney and DU so the coverage is the same. I guess its cheaper because Disney doesn't get a cut of the premium and because it's based on the price of the ticket of the parents.
