I'm a Brit. We don't do extremes in weather. It's rain or nothing usually. But hot, still air? I'm sweltering.
It's 43.8 C (111 F) at my house today, so I hear ya. There's a reason why in my neck of the woods they refer to air conditioning as "refrigeration." LOL.
If you're able to, get a fan for whatever room you're in. Air movement makes a huge difference.
Yes. It’s now the time of year where the weather anchor reports the temperature then the heat index .Northern Virginia is sweltering as well and looks like next week will be even hotter! Summer has arrived!
Also Arizona.....but hotter. We hit 113 yesterday.......excessive heat today expecting 111.We’re 3 weeks into monsoon season here in AZ and so far nothing. A few clouds early in the month and a drizzle or two, barely…. But nothing substantial. For the last week we’ve had “excessive heat warnings” every day. Today was109°F !!! Tomorrow will mellow a bit— only 104°
At least monsoon storms drop the temp when they roll in. Although, the next day starts off hot again, unfortunately. We were told that this should be an active monsoon season… lots of moisture. Hallelujah!
Ok— so where is it? i planted stuff because it was supposed to be wet. So far, my garden is just… sad.![]()
You’re lucky, we don’t have central, one wall unit of the first floor, window units in the second floor, wall and window in the attic bedrooms. Planning on cleaning bathrooms today, no a/c at all, same with the kitchen. NJ is heating up after a cold spring. Beautiful today, looks like a one and done. We're in an extreme heat warning here in my part of NJ as well. Our central air conditioning doesn't reach the second floor where my room and computer are located. I have a window unit, but only use it at bedtime. I spent most of today downstairs because it just got too hot up here. This is the kind of weather where people die, especially elderly people-take care, everyone who's experiencing this!
I never believed in the dry heat vs humidity argument until I was in Vegas when it was 110F.Also Arizona.....but hotter. We hit 113 yesterday.......excessive heat today expecting 111.
Then it is supposed to drop out of the that zone (which is 110 and over) and go down to 106 tomorrow.
So true, the humidity is worseI never believed in the dry heat vs humidity argument until I was in Vegas when it was 110F.
Was it hot? Oh yeah. But it isn't AS draining as 100F with 90% humidity. No. When you have the insane humidity, there is no getting away from it. And it will still be hot at 10PM as the moisture retains the heat.
That dry heat does make breathing difficult though for those of us from the swamp!!
