My DH and I each have a credit from a previous flight. Does anyone know if we have to book as two separate reservations using the credits? We will probably use points, so we will be logged in to my DH RR account. We've never used credits plus points.

I don't know for sure, but I didn't think you could do that. I'm interested to see the answers, that will be great if that is possible!

you mean using points and our credit from a previous flight? I'm curious to see if its possible.

In my experience, each person needs a separate reservation. Last year we had a combination of vouchers, points and cash. I just called SW customer service and they walked be through the entire process online.

Yes separate ones. I just did this. Both husband and I had luv vouchers given for a late flight. I tried to book us together and when I put in my voucher it wouldn't let me put the second one in. It said only one per reservation. I had to book two reservations

Yes, that's what I wasn't sure about if you'd be able to book a flight using points but combining your credits along with the points. I was under the impression that the only thing you could use cash credits for, when using points to fly, was the $5.60 they charge for the September 11th security they charge each direction(going and coming back home), which would be $11.20, that I usually charge to my CC when getting a flight with points. I didn't think you could use any credits for anything but that one particular fee, when using points. For example, if your flight was say 8000 points, you could buy the flight with 8000 points and $11.20 worth of credits for your ticket, or 8000 points and a CC charge of $11.20, but you could not pay using say 7000 points and the balance with credits you received from a previous flight refund. I'm pretty certain that is correct but would be very happy to hear if I'm wrong on that as that would help me use some credits I have, lol! Hoping someone will know for sure!

Ok, I just called and asked and unfortunately, I was right. You cannot combine points and cash credits, other than using $11.20 of the credits to pay the 9/11 security fee. It's either all points, with only the security fee needing to be paid with the credit if you have one or a CC, or all cash and credits and no points. Ugh, sometimes hard to use those credits when you like to book using points! That's why I like points! You find a lower fare, change to that, and you get the points refunded for use anytime, for anyone, and not restricted to who the ticket was for, and not restricted to using within a year of original booking! Then you really feel like it was worth stalking SW, switching, and getting that points credit!

One-way tickets are the way to go! I usually book our SW flights as one-way because it's easier to make changes if one leg decreases in price, or someone needs to change their schedule or something. However, in the OP's case, one-way is the answer to the voucher/points issue!
