hey guys i have a an issue with flying i'm worrying that we won't get seating together.
how do you book your seats i've tried reading other posts but i'm still confuzzled:( thomas cook said 48hrs before flying

we're flying virgin how long in advance can you book? i've tried the booking ref that we have that doesn't do a thing..

we booked through thomas cook flying virgin

I booked Thomas Cook Signature with VA flights twice. I had similar issues both years where they told my 11 months, then I'd go back and it was 9 months, 8 months ....... 2 weeks ...... "Oh sorry, we can't do that for you!"

If I were in the same situation right now I would contact VA directly, ask them what information they need and get them to help you. While VH has some customer service issues, I have had nothing short of fantastic customer care with VA directly. I always email them rather than phone. If you don't get the response you want, copy and paste your message and send it again and someone else will deal with it. They must have the details somewhere, but it may take some probing and persistence to get it.

Can I inject a note of calm..... you don't have to prebook seats - each time we have, the plane config has changed and we haven't got those exact seats anyhow! We just make sure we are checking in near the start of the slot - or in DTD on the way back. We have ALWAYS (6 flights Virgin LGW-MCO) been sat together - four across, one with 3 behind or two and two behind each other. The last one actually worked best for us!! Divide and conquer with the kids!

If you want to keep "reserved" seats, you have to do online check in.

True. I have just re-read my other post on here, which must have made the OP :scared1:. It is worth noting that even 'reserved' seats can be changed. Ours were on our outbound flight in October, even though I pre booked them 11 months out. We were still together. It is very rare that they split a family up and will rather resort to rearranging 'singles' than to divide a family. Usually the worst you get is sitting across the aisle or behind each other if there are too many of you to fit in one row.

It is nice to pre book though and have a hope of your pick of seats so I do understand the frustration here.

I've flown with Virgin at least 12 times and have always gotten the seats I requested. If you contact Virgin Atlantic they should be able to give you a locator number which you can then use to reserve your seats. :goodvibes

thanks for the reply guys

there are 4 of us going hoping they don't spilt us up :)

It's not likely. Is it 2 adults and 2 children? At worst, you may have one parent with one child and the other one with the other child, sitting either directly behind the first two, or across the aisle. I still think it's worth a shot contacting VA. Not everyone books seats early. Many wait until online check in comes available.

ask thomas cook for the flight location number. with this you should be able to request the seats you want.

I'm having this problem ... flying with Virgin with Jetsave ... at present Jetsave have not yet booked our tickets with Virgin so they can't give us the flight location so we can't book our seats! 80 days till we fly .... took me 30 mins to get through on Virgins premium line just to be told sorry we can't help!!

thank you very much

just to let you all know we phoned thomas cook over the weekend, we will get our location number end feb
thanks again

Thanks for the update. Always nice to know when things are sorted. At least you were smart and started looking into it with plenty of time to get it sorted. :goodvibes
