Booking one-way airfare

How many people have booked Southwest one way to Orlando and then later booked the return flight home when the new fares came out? Did it cause any problems? Thanks.

Never done it, but there is no reason to believe this would cause any problems on any airline, ESPECIALLY Southwest.

I did it for this trip.

Our flight down is for Jan 6 and I booked Sept 21

Our flight home is for Jan 12 and I booked it Nov 22.

I do not foresee any problems.

It should be NO problem. Southwest actually sells only one-way fares; most passengers combine two one-way trips to make a round trip flight, but there's no penalty for booking only one direction at a time.

A one way ticket is not nearly the red flag it was years ago. Many carriers market themselves on 'All our fares are one-way" (SWA, JetBlue, Song, AirTran to name a few)

In February, we're flying BOS-MCO on Song, and returning home RSW-BOS via Jet Blue. 2 one-ways, one different airlines, with 3 cities involved.

I wouldn't give it a thought.

I've booked one leg with SWA and booked the return leg months later for several of my recent trips.

SWA is pretty much set up to do it this way, so don't fret.
