Booking at 7 months at Christmas

A couple of years ago DVC used to have you put your name on a list if you wanted to book during Christman. However they've not done this the past couple of years. Has anyone tried booking, especially at OKW, at Christmas time and were they able to get rooms?

Reason I'm asking is our wedding anniversary is 12/26 and DW has always wanted to be at WDW for Christmas. Next (2006) is our 25th and we were thinking about taking a bunch of family down for part of the holiday, but to save points (and get bigger rooms) thinking of OKW vs. our home resort (BWV). So any stories on how this went would be helpful. Thanks

If memory serves, last September and October people were still successful in obtaining reservations for Christmas week.

This year was the first time we did not go at Christmas (2004).

I own at HH and have never had a problem getting a 2 bedroom in the 7 month period.

For last Christmas rooms were even available at the VWL for Christmas and the week before at the 7 month window. Remember that Christmas was on a Saturday in 2004 and this would have cost points, so a lot of people may have been scared away.

We have gone the last three New Year's (two of them to DVC Resorts). It is a great time to visit but it is very, very (did I say "very" yet?) crowded. Plan on doing a lot of other things besides the parks and rides. Go early and go late, find something else to do in the middle of the day. I would get your reservations at your home resort as soon as possible. New Year's fills up fast.

Our anniversary is 12/26 also! (A beautiful time of year to get married). We'll be at VWL for our 19th anniversary 12/26/05.
