booking and free dining questions

Ok.. we currently have a ressie for Oct 27-Nov 2, which are the only days I could use my 40 percent off in that month and we have determined that September would be a better time to go. I got my dh to not do our camping trip in August and that would let us take a full week a Disney and maybe more on one side or another in September. So.. in case free dining DOESN't come out, I need to use my 40 percent off code before it expires on Monday. So I should cancel my old trip book for the week we want to go as a room only for the dates we want at 40 percent off. Since they have already charged my credit card for a one night deposit for each room at ASMusic, it should just transfer.

IF... Big if... they offer free dining and I get on the phone at 6 am central time and try to book it, then they will just cancel that reservation and book the free dining package. Now, since I will have 2 rooms how will all of this work?? Will it be 2 different reservations ( 2 adults, 3 kids...can't fit in one room and wouldn't want to try). How would the tickets be done? How about the 200 dollar deposit? Would I really need 400 dollar deposit with the 2 rooms? Help me figure this out.

You currently have a reservation that you want to change and you are going to change it regardless right? That part seems pretty normal. They will just transfer the deposit


I will be honest I can't figure out what you second question is. But I think you want to know what happens with your deposit if you cancel the 40% off room and book free dining? It works just like your current reservation, you have to transfer the deposit to the new reservation. The only difference is that you will have to add at least a one day park ticket for all five people as you now have to book a package.

The last time I changed a reservation from room only to a package, they did not transfer the deposit. They cancelled the first reservation and credited the $$$ back on my bank card (can take up to 10 days to be refunded). Then, they had me make a new reservation, plus another deposit.

They did this with friends we were traveling with, too.

I can't remember if we were making any other changes to our reservations besides, "room only" to packages. It wasn't a big deal though, probably just more work for the CM.

I always reserve two rooms and I believe they are 2 separate reservations, or have two separate confirmations numbers, but they "link" them together in their system.

For us, I did pay a separate deposit on each room/package BUT it could be because we put the 2 rooms/packages in different names... I have "adult children" and put one of the rooms in their names.

Be aware that if your package contains insurance, unless you cancel or change your ressie within 14 days of making it, you lose the money on the insurance regardless of whether or not you have another pkg booked.

If free dining comes out, then I will buy a package with the 2 rooms, 6 day park pass (maybe 7..still under discussion) . So will my deposit be 200 or 400? Will they put some of the tickets under one room and some of the tickets under the other?? We are a family of 5 and will not fit in one room, so will have to have 2 at value. Unless, like some of the rumors are saying we have to stay at a moderate, which means POR, I guess. We WILL NOT DO A DELUXE!!

You can transfer a deposit from package to package, but not from package to room only (or vice versa). They are two different systems. For two rooms, I believe your deposit would be $400.
