Booking a room at Atlantis for a day while docked at Nassau?

WOW!!! Glad I stumbled on this thread! We will gbe there in January, but are also a family of 5 and can't rationalize almost $800 for the day! Comfort Suites was going to charge us $500...better, but still pretty pricey! I'm going to call back in the morning to see what type of deal I can get! Hey the worst they can tell me is "No!" For sure worth a try :-)

I have managed to book a room at Atlantis for $180 for next September for our family of 4. Heaps cheaper than doing the official excursion. Hoping it all works out smoothly! There's always the risk of for some reason the ship not docking, but I figure it's worth the risk for that saving.

OP, were you able to cancel and get a refund? What a huge bummer that the 10/20 sailing was cancelled! I hope you were able to reschedule.

I just called Atlantis about booking a room on 1/21. The cheapest room they could offer me was $546 for 4 people, then we'd have to buy another wristband at the front desk since there are 5 of us (Mom, Dad, + 3 boys; 7, 9, 11). So I ended up calling the Comfort Suites and got a room with my AAA discount for $343 for the four of us, then I'll have to buy another wrist band at Atlantis, for $80 for a grand total of $423. Still expensive, but about $250 cheaper than booking through Disney. This doesn't include lunch or transportation, but I can't imagine them being that expensive???? Or I hope not???

We were supposed to be on the first Magic cruise after drydock that was cancelled. The free cancellation is only if you cancel with 30 days or more. Since our cruise was cancelled 3 days before we sailed I lost what I paid for the room. I submitted that cost to DCL and am hoping DCL will reimburse me for the room since Atlantis will not. As such, I can't report back as to how it went.

Our next cruise is now in March and we have decided not to grab a room at Atlantis since we fear it may be too cold to hit the water park. The room for that week (I think it was March 12 or 13) is $260.

I suspect the answer will be no, since DCL offers Atlantis as excursions through their own Port Adventures. It's similar to the risk of DCL not making the port if weather is bad on the cruise, or missing the ship because traffic was bad on the way back from a private booking.

I booked this afternoon as well at about $160 with taxes off expedia.ca. I called to confirm with them that I could book being outside of Canada. They charged my card right away. This was only $1 more than the Discover Atlantis would have cost us and now we get to go to the water park and pools!!! I called Atlantis to verify as well and they said we can have access to everything even though it will be before 3pm.

Downside is
1. We will have to pay for a taxi there
2. If we don't dock in Nassau we are out the money.

Husband and I decided it was worth the risk. We were on the Dream during Sandy last year though and decided we won't tell the kids about the waterpark until we get there and all is good. Our littlest is 2 and doesn't have the potty training down 100 percent so at least she will get a day at Atlantis in the pools where they allow swim diapers.

Did everything work out for you booking on your own?

In this case DCL cancelled the cruise altogether and did refund me for the room. They did so as a shipboard credit on our next cruise. Not sure that we will book a room at Atlantis this time around though.

So happy it worked out for you. I, too, would be leary about booking Atlantis again:confused3 Enjoy your cruise!!!:thumbsup2

We just returned from a 3 night Disney Dream cruise. We booked a room at the Beach towers through Expedia for $224 CDN total. We had a great time, myself husband and 2 children ages 5 & 7. We had full access to the resort and pools.
My only recommendation would be to take a taxi and not the water taxi as we wasted over an hour boarding and then waiting for the boat to fill. The taxi was the same price $4 per person each way.

I know this question has been asked, but I have searched the forums and can't find anyone with first hand experience. We have a cruise coming next month and I can get a room at the Atlantis Beach Tower for $104. Since there are 5 of us I would need to get two rooms, so that is $208. That should give us full access to the waterpark and is way cheaper than booking through DCL. So the question is, will they give me access to the park if I show up at 9am even though the room will not be ready until 3pm? Have others done this? Am I missing something?

I have done this. It works great.

AGREED!!! 100% Agree! Definitely. Waiting for that water taxi to fill is aggravating, time consuming, and filled with diesel fumes.

I booked directly on Travelocity.ca for 2 rooms since there is 5 of us

Did you pick a specific hotel or how did you get this fantastic deal???? I'm going to start looking right now! Right now, the best deal I found for my family of 5 was $423.22 (hotel was $343.22 + 1 extra pass to be purchased at Atlantis for $80). So I'm curious as to these better rates and want to investigate! :-)

we're traveling with a 2 and 5 year old... would you still recommend normal taxi vs water taxi? it seems we'd feel safer (with the 2yo especially) on a boat than in a taxi...

How was the check in process? Do you check in directly at the Beach Towers ?

We booked directly with Travelocity.ca, but I know expedia.ca was offering the same price.

I am a huge water park guy so Atlantis was on my bucket list. It was a huge disappointment. I loved the river with the waves and rapids but that was definitely the only highlight. The food was horrible. We spent almost all our time in the river because the slides were well below the level you find in Orlando. We went back to the ship about 3 hours early. It is a beautiful park but I would much rather be at Aquatica or Blizzard beach. My 11 year old daughter just wanted to get back to the ship.

Quick followup now that we're back:

Booking the room worked out great. Beach and Coral tower share a lobby/check-in desk. You get your room keys and can head into the waterpark area to get wristbands.

However, take everyone's advice and take a taxi, not a water taxi/ferry.

The ferry was sketchy and let us off no where near Atlantis.

We didn't use the waterpark much (our kids were too little for the crazy slides).

Their private beach was nice though (the cove area has great sand, nicer than castaway cay's), no one tried to sell us anything there, and the aquarium walkthrough stuff was pretty cool.

We went to our room to clean up and change before heading back to the ship.

The money we saved made it worth it, but again, take a taxi!
