I have booked hotel, flights, and cars via Travelocity and have never had a problem. For most flights now they do tack on a $5 service charge but, as the OP pointed out, sometimes that is not an issue because they might have a fare that is still lower than the airline's website! I usually check fares on Travelocity(and subscribe to FARE WATCHER) and then double check the airline's website when i see a schedule or fare that suits to see which way is cheaper. My best story about booking thru Travelocity is that in 2004 I snagged two round trip tickets from Raleigh to ROME, ITALY for under $500 (TOTAL...for both...round trip!) and the seat assignments Travelocity gave us were in FIRST CLASS both ways. Amazing! ALMOSt too good to be true but it really happened. So, needless to say, even though I am sure that particular booking must have been a mistake, I lOVE Travelocity!
