Booked two rooms at Hilton through Priceline, but now only need one...

Our friends have decided not to travel to Disney over Easter because of the war.

Two rooms were booked through Priceline at the Hilton. My husband and two kids 5 and 3 will still be going. My question is, would it be worth to request an upgrade to a club level room (2 standard for one club level)? We really only need one room and if we could get a free continental breakfast out of it...

Any opinions?

Per Priceline's updated travel policy, you may be able to cancel the original 2-room reservation and rebid the one room you need for your family without incurring a fee:

Priceline Travel Policy Update

During these troubled times, we are working closely with our travel partners to relax the "No Refunds" and "No Changes" policies for priceline travel purchases made before March 20, 2003.

Updated policies for priceline products are listed below:

Hotel Rooms:
Hotel reservations scheduled for check-in between March 20 and April 20, 2003 may be cancelled for a fee ($10 per room night). This fee will be refunded if you book a new hotel reservation through priceline within the 30 day period immediately following your cancellation; the new reservation must also be for at least the same number of nights as your original priceline reservation.

To make changes to reservations or for more information, contact priceline Customer Service toll-free at 1-800-PRICELINE (1-800-774-2354). Please have your priceline request number and the phone number you gave us when you placed your request available when you call. In order to service those customers with the most urgent travel needs, we ask that you only call if you are scheduled to travel within the next 7 days. Please be patient, as wait times may be longer than usual.

Priceline will continue to monitor the situation at home and abroad and may change these policies accordingly. Please check this page regularly for updates and revisions.

Oh Thank you Steve,

I was wondering if Priceline was going to follow with a cancellation policy. I have been so busy at work, I haven't had a chance to check.

Yes, our check in is April 17th so we do fit within the guidelines.

If your stay falls within the guidelines, why cancel both rooms?

My thinking, which admittedly may be flawed, is that princessmomma would incur the $10/night cancellation fee if she only cancels one of room. If she cancelled both, there is the possibility that she would be able to get that refunded back against the new bid for the same nights.

I could be wrong. (And I'm not sure if the Priceline tech would know the answer either.)

Seems to me that the couple who backed out should pay the $10 cancellation fee. IMHO, that's a lot better than paying for the room (and I don't think the OP should have to pay unless she didn't tell the other couple that that rooms would be prepaid and that there were no refunds).
