I know people ask variations of this question all the time but . . . I've booked the Desert Inn from Dec 1-5. I am now second guessing myself if I should have gone with the BWPPI? Is their breakfast and parking really better? We have two adults and 4 kids ages 13,8,6, and 4. BWPPI is almost $100 cheaper and it is making me scratch my head and wonder why I chose Desert Inn. I think I've had a bit of info overload and can't keep stuff straight anymore. :confused3

Also does anyone know what it's like to do things like Splash Mountain in December? How do you stop from getting soaked?

So, all you experts out there what are your opinions? Please help!

i've stayed at the desert inn many times. I like it but i prefer candy cane inn. Splash is fun to get wet. december is not that cold

We're doing Desert Inn at that time. If you keep it..see ya there ;)

I like that it has an indoor pool....

desert inn i was gona stay at but now hojos came avalibule but i would stay at desert inn if not at hojos.

we stayed at desert inn.. We were happy with the quality of the room.

We didn't like the lack of wi-fi in the rooms (by the end of the night..we were too exhausted to walk to the lobby!)
We didn't like that breakfast started at 7:30, because we were already in line at the parks by then.

Our rooms were clean, staff was friendly, parking was no problem. We would stay there again, in a heartbeat.

Parking's a problem for us, we have a suite (well 2 suites actually) and they only allow one car per room. Um in a suite with 10 people do you think we only have one car?

Other than that I'm excited. Little irritated but excited LOL

I will be staying at the Desert Inn from Dec 3-7th so see ya there. I am in a C-1 family suite. As for the breakfasts, about the same. I would not pick BWPPI over Desert Inn JUST because of the breakfast, there isn't THAT much of a difference. Honestly a bowl of hard boiled eggs and some bagels is about the only difference.

As for parking, if you stay at Desert Inn you are GUARANTED a spot, but only for 1 car. I have never had any trouble. A bit cramped maybe but always a spot. BWPPI is the same I believe. Find a spot and dont move the car. Or keep an eye out and if someone moves snag there spot  (but just not MY spot!) What size room are you getting that BWPPI is so much cheaper? Is the room at Desert Inn a large Suite?

I've never been to either, and would stay at whichever is less expensive, since I've heard good things about both.

As for rides involving water and colder weather, you buy ponchos. Throw about $8 per person into your budget, buy the nice thick plastic ponchos with Mickey on the back, and have fun! When they are wet, use the souvenir bag the CM put the ponchos in (ask them for a big bag), do a rudimentary fold of the ponchos, and put them in the back. Easy peasy.

Works for Grizzly River Run, too. And with Grizzly, there are free lockers to hold your stuff for about 2 hours! :goodvibes

Both rooms that I'm looking at our two queens with a pull out sofa The Desert Inn which I have already booked is the A-Parlor suite. However I called BWPPI and they have an Entertainment rate and it would be about $2.xx cheaper to do the BWPPI for 5 night instead of the Desert Inn for 4 nights. I keep thinking if I can get another night for $2 more why not do it. I need to run it by hubby tonight. We still haven't finalized how many days on the park hoppers we are getting.

I was hoping that there would be the 5 day hoppers for the price of 3 but after having read some of the more recent threads and I don't think that is going to happen. The question now is if we really want to spend that long in Disneyland. I barely remember it from childhood and noone else in my family has been.

How cool if we are all going to be at the same hotel. Even if it only ends up being at Disneyland at the same time it would be fun to wear something that we could keep a look out for during the day like bright ribbons tied to a bag or a something else.

Ok some how I missed the green Mickey refernece before my last post. What are those?

I personally like to use the disposable dollar store ponchos. Use it for the day, then throw it away! (Or hand it to some scared looking mom holding a purse and camera thinking she won't get it wet). ;)

We were just at Dessert Inn and suites in June. We HATED it and wanted to change hotels but everyone else was booked. This is what I wrote on Tripadvisor:
We booked this hotel because it was so close to the parks and had the option of suites. My toddler still naps and we wanted a quiet room for her while we watched TV in the other room. The location is PERFECT. Right across the street but the hotel itself has issues.
When we walked into our room the floor was damp and there was hair (I won’t say what kind) in the shower. YUCK! The room is very old and outdated. The bedspreads looked about 20 years old!
We were going to change hotels but we couldn’t find one in walking distance at a reasonable price so we just dealt with it.
Then on day 2 our room at 3:30 p.m. was not made up even tho we had the “maid service” sign up.
The 3nd night we were there our neighbors were so loud and we laid there for 2 hours listing to the yelling and cussing. At 11:30 p.m. I called the front desk and they sent up the security guard. It didn’t help and I had to call back 45 min later to complain again. Then about 20 min later they quieted down but woke us up early the next morning with more yelling.
I complained the next day because we only got a few hours of sleep and they said the only option was for us to move rooms. (The day manager didn’t know anything that happened the night before). So we packed up our stuff and they moved it for us. Our new room was ready by nap time. It just made me mad that WE had to move and not the people yelling all night. For all the issues we had they only gave us a $30.00 credit (big deal). I will never say at this hotel again. We have been to HoJo’s, Carousel and Aryes and they were all very nice. This place is a dump and not worth the $139.00 a night we paid.
DON’T STAY HERE!!

If I had to choose between those two, I would definatley take the Best Western! We stayed at Desert Inn once, and that was the last time we ever stayed there! Yes, it is right across the street, but it is dirty, old, and just not a nice place to stay in my opinion.

I've stayed at the Desert Inn before and had NOO problems. I mean for all who've complained about it; you kind of get what you pay for. If you are planning on staying at this hotel, don't expect GCH and you'll be fine. It was very convenient because it is right across the street to the resort and there is a Denny's right next door. Hope you guys have an awesome time !!!

I didn't have a choice, but I do like that with my little ones we're RIGHT across the street. IF we need a nap we can go right back.

I'm not expecting the world, just a place to sleep..tho..the hair issue. *Gag*

Here's advice for staying mostly dry on SM. Sit in the back. Do not, I repeat do not sit in the front. The person in the front seat usually gets a wall of water (depending on the weight in the log). If you really don't want to get wet, I guess your other option is to not ride it, or wear poncho's. Our theory is that if you are afraid of getting wet, you shouldn't ride the ride.

why would you go on splash or grizzly and not wnat to get wet. i love getting soaked lol

Oh I don't mind getting wet . . . it's the chafing afterwards that I mind. lol Actually I was more concerned with the kids getting cold from wet clothes. We already have some emergency ponchos so perhaps I'll pack those.

So I just found out my hubby's boss is going the same week! Imagine that. I think I am going to trade to the BWPPI. If I can stay an extra day for $2 I've gotta go that route. :)

Mycutieskitten I actually read your review on tripadvisor. :)
