I have been reading about how Delta changes your flights a lot now I'm worried they will do that to us. We booked round trip leaving in October both are non stop.
I do not want to have to have a layover or have our flight times changed. What if they change our flights on our returning trip while we are at Disney ? I will not have internet to check my email . How will we know ?? Should I call someone to check my email at home? If they do change it and it is more then the 90 minute time frame that they give you to change your flight can we change it to the next day ? I'm kind of nervous about this because it will be me and my DGD flying alone. This will be the first time I have flown without another adult family member with me. :confused3

add your cell phone # as the contact to use while you are on vacation (w/ Delta, that is)

If you don't have a cell phone, you can call Delta 48 hours out to see if they made any changes to your original reservation.

Definitely check your email often. Our early morning Delta flight was not just delayed, but CANCELLED & we only found out about it after we'd arrived at the airport as we hadn't checked from the hotel. It was lucky for us that we even made it to Orlando in peak Spring Break season. As it was we lost out on a whole day at Disney. :confused3

I fly Delta alot and typically they never change flights less than a month out except for mechanical or weather problems. All airlines can have day of travel changes - my Southwest flight was about 4 hours late in May, got home at 2:00am.

You can always call the 800# to check flight status.

This has been my experience as well.
And even if Delta has your contact info, DON'T rely on them contacting
you immediately regarding a flight change. Go online & check your flights now & then.

I do have to say in support of Delta, whenever they have changed or cancelled a flight for us, they are always very good with rectifying the situation. If they put us on a flight we don't like, we have been able to call up and get on a better flight.

Thats good to know :thumbsup2

I thought the flight change window was one hour, but regardless, when I have had a change in the past, I have been polite but firm about what I need regarding the changed flight. This means that sometimes I have requested--and received--a change in date.

I would not accept substitution of a flight with stops for a non-stop (although I have gotten the reverse!)

Don't stress too much, but do check your flights periodically--even now. Sometimes Delta shows "itinerary change" and it isn't clear why. Change of flight times is one thing, but also change of equipment. As a family, this is just as important to know. If they change the aircraft, you want to make sure that you still have the seats together that you want. It never hurts to call Delta if you see any kind of change to itinerary to verify what it is.

First, I have NEVER had Delta contact me via email or phone when they have made a flight change. Yes, they have my email address & phone numbers.

I find out about the change by periodically checking online.

Second, if/when they do change, if it is a significant change (figure more than an hour on departure or arrival time), look yourself for what flight you would prefer, call the 800 number, explain the new flight doesn't work for you and you'd like to be put on flight xyz.

Third, it's possible Delta could do away with non-stop flights and you HAVE to take a connecting flight.

Fourth, all of the time/equipment changes that we have gone through have all been months away from the trip, not the week of.

Last but not least, as mentioned, call the airline the day before you depart to make sure everything is on schedule.

Ditto the suggestion of periodically going online to check your flight to see if the time has changed. Last time we booked on Delta the flight times changed a few times before our trip (and IIRC even the flight number changed once for our outbound). The other thing I check for any time there is a change is that our seats stayed together. Sometimes those get jumbled up in the mix when there's an equipment change.

True, but adding a connection would likely trigger the 90 minute change policy where you could get a refund and find travel on another airline.

If you have a smart phone, download Delta's app. If there are any flight changes on the day of the flight, it will popup on your phone.
