Bongo's - Timing from MGM?

I'm going to WDW for the first time ever this December, and DH and I plan to eat at Bongo's one night. (he grew up in S. Fl. and thought Cuban food sounded good.)

The day we plan to go, we're visiting MGM. Does anyone have experience or advice with the travel time, or the best way to get to the restaurant? I know the trip is still months away, but what can I say, planning Disney stuff is fun anytime!

Probably the easiest would be to take the boat to the Epcot resorts and pick up a bus to DTD from there. Maximum time: 20 minute wait at MGM for boat, 10 minute boat ride, 20 minute wait for DTD bus, 20 minute bus ride,15 minute walk to restaurant. You can catch the bus at any of the Epcot resorts. Typically, the bus will stop at Swan, then Dolphin, then Yacht, then Beach, then Boardwalk, then go to DTD. The boat from MGM will usually go Swan/Dolphin (one stop), Yacht & Beach (one stop) then Boardwalk. So if you want the shortest boat ride, exit at S&D, and if you want the shortest bus ride, stay on the boat until Boardwalk.

A really fun transportation option would be to take a bus from Disney-MGM Studios to Port Orleans-Riverside Resort and ride the boat down the Sassagoula River to Downtown Disney from Port Orleans-Riverside Resort.It takes some time,but is really fun.
