Bombshell Obama Pastor Video

Obama says he wasn't hearing that kind of anger and hate for 20 years. Got any information that says he did?

No, I do not. I guess they just videoed him on his bad days, maybe?
Do you have any information that this pastor ever preached even one single message that was accepting and loving (even towards rich white people?). I'd love to see a link to it, if you have it.

And you support him, that's fine. This doesn't bother you at all, again...that's your prerogative. But this very much does bother me and WILL be used to help me decide who to support.

CNN this morning had one of their correspondent's on, she said she'd been to a few of the church services at this church, she says as a journalist that she never saw any sermon that looked anything close to what was on those video's...

I guess those concerned should buy every month's worth of sermon's and watch them all to see if there's any there, there..... were these cherry picked for their message? I'm sure they were... was Obama in the church when these sermon's were said? I take it he was not, he says he was not, and unlike some, I choose to believe him.

Well, that's all well and good, but a book is a finely crafted piece of work that gives the writer 100% control of a persona they want to reveal to the reader.

Considering everything he wrote in those books, I don't think he was holding back anything.... he showed the not so good side as well....

Obama says he didn't here this crap many times. Do you have some information that says otherwise?

Well if he didn't know about his own beloved pastor's statements then he is a fool, which may even be worse as far as being President.

But I tend to believe that he did know. His statement to the pastor a year ago that he may have to distance himself shows that he knew something. And the pastor seemed mighty comfortable making the statements, there certainly were no gasps from the audience.

Considering everything he wrote in those books, I don't think he was holding back anything.... he showed the not so good side as well....

I doubt this statement is true. We all hold back when we're being judged and I really don't think Obama is an exception. You know what he wanted you to know. Nothing more, nothing less.

Wow I just started reading some this thread..

Did anyone post the below piece from www.abcnews.com yet? (if so sorry)

A couple of things get me:

1-People are saying the GOP is coming up with or leaking these items to the press. Do you really thing the GOP would waste their time with these gems 8 months before the election? No way is this all Hillary’s doing… DEM vs. DEM

2- Didn’t people crucify President Bush for his long time association with the “religious right?” Didn’t they say the “religious right” rubbed off on him. Now the DEMS are saying that Obama’s 20 year religious association is no big deal. Interesting.

Obama Disagrees With Pastor's 'God Damn America' Sermon

By BRIAN ROSS and REHAB EL-BURI
March 14, 2008

Sen. Barack Obama says he "obviously disagrees" with his pastor of 20 years who said black Americans should sing "God Damn America" instead of "God Bless America."

Reacting to an ABC News story about the sermons of Rev. Jeremiah Wright of the Trinity United Church of Christ in Chicago, Obama told the Pittsburg Tribune-Review, "I haven't seen the line. This is a pastor who is on the brink of retirement who in the past has made some controversial statements. I profoundly disagree with some of these statements."

But he defended Rev. Wright's overall record, accusing ABC News of "cherry picking" statements of the man with a 40-year career.

"There are times when people say things that are just wrong. But I think it's important to judge me on what I've said in the past and what I believe," he told the paper.

Rev. Wright remains part of the Obama campaign, as a member of the candidate's religious advisory board.

As reported previouly on ABC News, Rev. Wright has a long history of what even Obama's campaign aides concede is "inflammatory rhetoric," including the assertion that the United States brought on the 9/11 attacks with its own "terrorism."

An ABC News review of dozens of Rev. Wright's sermons, offered for sale by the church, found repeated denunciations of the U.S. based on what he described as his reading of the Gospels and the treatment of black Americans.

"The government gives them the drugs, builds bigger prisons, passes a three-strike law and then wants us to sing 'God Bless America.' No, no, no, God damn America, that's in the Bible for killing innocent people," he said in a 2003 sermon. "God damn America for treating our citizens as less than human. God damn America for as long as she acts like she is God and she is supreme."

In addition to damning America, he told his congregation on the Sunday after Sept. 11, 2001 that the United States had brought on al Qaeda's attacks because of its own terrorism.

"We bombed Hiroshima, we bombed Nagasaki, and we nuked far more than the thousands in New York and the Pentagon, and we never batted an eye," Rev. Wright said in a sermon on Sept. 16, 2001.

"We have supported state terrorism against the Palestinians and black South Africans, and now we are indignant because the stuff we have done overseas is now brought right back to our own front yards. America's chickens are coming home to roost," he told his congregation.

Sen. Obama told the New York Times he was not at the church on the day of Rev. Wright's 9/11 sermon. "The violence of 9/11 was inexcusable and without justification," Obama said in a recent interview. "It sounds like he was trying to be provocative," Obama told the paper.

Rev. Wright, who announced his retirement last month, has built a large and loyal following at his church with his mesmerizing sermons, mixing traditional spiritual content and his views on contemporary issues and is considered one of the country's 10 most influential black pastors, according to members of the Obama campaign.

In a statement to ABCNews.com yesterday, Obama's press spokesman Bill Burton said, "Sen. Obama has said repeatedly that personal attacks such as this have no place in this campaign or our politics, whether they're offered from a platform at a rally or the pulpit of a church. Sen. Obama does not think of the pastor of his church in political terms. Like a member of his family, there are things he says with which Sen. Obama deeply disagrees. But now that he is retired, that doesn't detract from Sen. Obama's affection for Rev. Wright or his appreciation for the good works he has done."

Did someone say to read the books that Obama wrote to see what he believes? Are you kidding? Use precious time when I can get it all with 2 minute cherry picked sound bites from when the Senator wasn't even in the Church to hear what was said.... Nah, easier to see the sound bites...

If it makes it easier for some, he does have his books on tape and I bet you could even get them from the library... you wouldn't even have to spend money to buy them.

What? An informed electorate? What are you, crazy? :lmao:

I can believe that the GOP may have had a hand in this. HC really isn't going to be a threat to them. I know many Republicans who had planned on voting for Obama, but not a one would ever vote for HC (that I know of, I'm sure some out there will).

Obama though, he's got the support of the Dems (all of them pretty much if he's the candidate), many Independents support him, and quite a few Republicans who Bush has managed to turn off, will be voting for him, too.

Get Obama out of the equation and JMc has a real shot.

Having said all that, this isn't something that most Americans will take lightly, nor do I think they should.

Well I think we all know what he is going to say. I completely denounce the pastor's statements, I don't agree with them in any way, I never heard him make those statements.

There, now you don't have to watch! :rotfl:

^^^ Oh I forgot reject, he will completely reject the pastor's statements as well. ;)

I would never ever agree with the things he said. In any sermon *I* have ever been to, Ive never seen him say those things.

;)

I want to see him speak and listen to what he has to say about this. I don't support his policies, but until now I didn't doubt that he was a decent man. Knowing that he could possibly be my President, I want reassurance that he is a man of character. Maybe that isn't important to some people, but it matters to me. I'm aggravated right now, and if I was a supporter I'd be mad as hell that this is just now being revealed. Although from that perspective, better now than later. I'm skeptical of politicians to begin with and I've never felt much inspiration from Obama, but he deserves to be heard. I just don't know if he'll be able to convince me that this firm denouncement isn't motivated by his political aspirations.

Obama says he wasn't hearing that kind of anger and hate for 20 years. Got any information that says he did?

Why let a public statement and a mini-media tour get in the way of some hardcore conservative hyperventilating? After hitting the news circut tonight, this whole thing will be forgotten in a few days...

Meanwhile in Palookaville, Bear Sterns goes belly up, the stockmarket takes yet another hit, and the so-called fiscal conservatives still aren't calling for President Bush's head. Of course, asking Sen. Obama to condemn something his pastor said and then rejecting that condemnation (BIG surprise! ) is far more important than what's going on with our country's fiscal outlook...

What is going on with this country?!?!

Is that actually my quote?

No, it wasn't from your post. I'm not sure how Salmon credited you for Bamajill's comment. Hmmmm?

As for this:

Obama says he wasn't hearing that kind of anger and hate for 20 years. Got any information that says he did?

Really? And they call me gullible? Do you really, honestly, incredulously believe that a person who holds such contempt for America, nonblacks, and the Clintons could give weekly sermons about loving each other and embracing our Christian brothers and only go off every once in a blue moon? There are simply no words.....

MTE... As I was catching up on the thread I was formulating a response. You said it better than I could. :thumbsup2

I'm not just saying this in a politically melodramatic fashion, but I am so very troubled and worried about who this man is and his ability to lead. In all honesty, NO way I'll ever vote for him, but I sure would like to know there is nothing cataclysmic and sinister in store for America beyond 1/09 should he be elected. Such assurance would help me a lot. I apprecaite his written statement as a step in the right direction, although at this point I don't know how forthcoming he truly is.

And we all know that career politicians tell the truth, the whole truth and nothing but the truth...:rotfl:

Too bad afcgirl, Swedish Meatball, and Cathryn Rose can't be there to ask a few questions.

Actually, there are a lot of once loyal Dems who are saying all kinds of contempuous things about the Clinton's...call it the side effects of a ultra-competitive election cycle...
