"Bomb Cyclone" Weather Event

I don't know what is appropriate attire, but I just braved Market Basket - which was absolutely bananas, by the way - to get a new "Ergie" shovel! I saw it advertised while I was at the dentist and I marched right down to Market Basket and got the second to last one! Can't wait to test it out!

Where are you, FloatingBear? I love to shop at Market Basket and always hit the one in Newington, NH when I drive to my sister's house. Wish we had Market Basket up here in Bangor!

Where I recently moved to is expecting a couple inches, however my dd and dgd are with friends in the city where we used to live and it is 6_8" expected.

Luckily we got more appropriate snow attire for Christmas.

I have to work some tomorrow, the store was mad house when I left today.

Everyone stay safe and warm!

I'm in Swampscott, MA - I LOVE Market Basket! Been a loyal MB gal my whole life! Channel 5 News FB page had a video of the Chelsea MB today - lines down the aisle, lol! I'm surprised they haven't made it to Bangor! Y'all definitely have more snow than us at this point!

I grew up in Peabody, lived there (or in Salem) for 28 years!

I get tired of the panic (wrong word maybe for it?) you get from the Weather Channel. I understand the importance of forecasting the storms, but they overhype everything little thing..

Just give us the weather.. Skip the 12 on location weather folks, stop driving your weather van into areas you should not be in, skip naming every freaking thunderstorm and well you get the idea

I asked on my local community facebook page, but nobody seems to know the answer. Which is worse, a bomb cyclone, a snowpocolypse, or snowmaggedon? I don't remember us ever having a bomb cyclone before, but I know tha tthe local news predicted both of the others at one time or another last winter.

I just don't like them comparing it to Sandy. Similar pressure drop, similar full moon...

You forgot thundersnow.

You forgot the extra large mug of coffee, while supervising.

LOL!!! This is me as I peek out the window at my DH clearing off everything in sight!

Perhaps with whiskey to shake the cold.

Brandy for me.

Y'all may have seen this, been around for a while, but I like to re-watch before heading to Market Basket on days like these...

I am almost afraid I looked liek this yesterday after I got out of work. We had nothing in the house that was easy if the power went out, and if it goes out for us, we are last on the list to get it turned back on. I already had my storm paper goods in place, but our bread was over a week out of date, we had no milk, and no sandwich meat. And not a sweet in sight. We had been living on all the Hioliday leftovers that seemed to multiply daily.

Problem solved. I looked like a whirling dervish as I swapped vehicles with DH. He grabbed the girls at Daycare, I took his "red beauty" and one of the kids to the store, and he took my car and the other one to karate, and I packed all of the groceries around the poor little kid! She was starving, hates the grocery store, but loves me enough to try not to look martyred by the food on her lap, around her little feet and balanced next to her.

I love thunder snow!

In other words, winter is here.

What does one wear for such an awesome event? I still have time to hit Macy's or Lord & Taylor to find a smashing outfit. Or will Walmart attire suffice?

Did the Weather Channel christen this storm with a name yet?

I got super heavy fleece pajama bottoms for Christmas, which will work perfectly with my long sleeve Cuddledud top with thumbholes, fuzzy socks, and ultra weight hoodie with the cellphone pocket (Ok, it's actually supposed to be a bottle cozie pocket, but that would be too cold right now).

Yes, I heard that term when I was watching the weather but at that moment I didn't have time to stick around to learn what it meant. Do I want to know what it means?! I probably should since we already have a blizzard warning in effect.

Market Basket stores (all 3 around me) were supposedly super crazy yesterday. So I went to our local Mom and Pop store and got what I needed. If they didn't have it, I didn't need it enough to brave the craziness!

Proper attire for this event is pajama pants, a tshirt and a hoodie.

I'll likely put my boots on along with my winter coat at some point tomorrow to supervise the teenager as he shovels.

Missing my shovelers - last storm we had 3 eager, young bodies here to push the 8+ inches of snow. now we are down to 1, and she has been sick all week.

No way! IASW! I was in fact at the Salem Basket in all of its glory - not a carriage to be found, lol!

My BIL was there too - if you're talking about the one near Target, on Highland Ave? He lives out of the country now, and it was his first experience in over a decade with the craziness of MB before a storm :)

Finally, someone who did their research!

Some of us are working this storm but with a smile. Our drink package is $700 for 2 of us thank you Mother Nature. :D

Howdy there neighbor!!! Salem here, we live off Washington Sq.

Too funny about Market Basket. The one they were talking about on the news said they had 36 checkout lanes open with lines going all the way to the back of the store. People were following others to their car to get a cart.

I think I would have hit up another store at that point. That is insane.

BUT I do wish Target and Walmart would follow their lead and open every lane!

Stay warm and safe all. Here in Central Mass. snow just started picking up. I can handle the 12-16 inches of snow. It's that darn cold that's going to follow that stinks!

I just laugh when they start in on this nonsense. I wonder what would happen if they got real winter. I watched some newscaster this morning from Charlotte reporting (with a few flakes falling and a breeze) saying "it's a blizzard here...." LOL. Seriously? I could see you. Therefore, not a blizzard. A blizzard is where I can't see you if you are more than 3 feet from the camera.

I get that the south is ill equipped to handle almost any amount of snow, but the kind of snow that fell there doesn't even merit a mention when it happens here.

Salem instead of Lynn? But why?

I have not been to the brand new Lynn one but I hear it's nice! Have you been? I feel like I "know" my Salem one, so I'm sticking with that one for the moment!

Somehow, my kids now expect nachos and movie watching on snow days, and I forgot to get provisions on Monday. But I would have skipped it or gone elsewhere, knowing that it's so bananas, but it was still early and I really wanted that new shovel! I feel it's going to be life changing! Glad you got some supplies!
