Does Boma use peanuts in their food? I would love to go but DD is allergic. TIA!

There are definitely nutty dishes at Boma. I'd suggest calling Disney, letting them know your concerns and speaking with a Chef at Boma. Based on what you hear from the Chef make your decision.

It may turn out that breakfast is the safer meal for your family or you may decide its not worth it or you give a her Kids club night while you go and enjoy dinner there.

That's what I was afraid of. Oh well! We'll have to go some other time when we can drop her off somewhere. Thanks again!

Others have mentioned the chefs at Boma are happy to make special dishes for people with allergies. In fact, I just read a post today where someone said the chef made a special Shrimp dish and a some pineapple desert just for their child's allergies.

My son is allergic to peanuts and we have eaten at Boma many times. Tell your server about the allergy, and the chef will come out and actually walk you around the buffet and point out everything your child can and cannot have. We haven't seen that many peanut dishes there, but last time there was peanut rice. There are also many dishes with other nuts, but they are usually labelled, and if not, the chef will point them out to you. Most desserts will be off-limits, but ask the chef about getting your daughter some ice cream. They have done that for my son before, but now that he is 12, he is too embarrassed to be brought something different!

Another place that treats allergies really well is the Plaza Restaurant in Magic Kingdom. They actually will bring out this HUGE binder that lists every food they serve, so you can check for allergens. It is actually overwhelming! Also, the last time we were there, a manager came out and said he was going to personally prepare my son's food to make sure it would be OK. It was really neat, although again, my son was a little embarrassed.

The main thing for you to remember is to bring your daughter's Epi-Pens EVERYWHERE!!!!

Good luck; I think you will find Disney to be very accomodating to your child's allergy!!

I too ate at Boma many times (over a dozen, we were staying at AKL) our last trip, most were breakfast meals but did have dinner there too. The breakfast wasn't too bad, a few things with nuts to avoid but I don't recall any peanuts (there may have been peanut butter but can't remember). Dinner however there were a few things with nuts and also (as already mentioned) peanut rice.

The chef was fantastic though and did walk me through, but due to the peanut rice, we did not go there for dinner again (did go to Jiko twice, that was amazing). I just didn't feel comfortable with the rice, if a little grain fell off somebodies plate into something else, I was not prepared to take the risk, and I have the allergy so I'm talking from a sufferer of PA (not that I suffer, just dip out on some yummy desserts sometimes :rotfl2: ), but breakfast was fine, just muffins and pastries contained nuts but I was not worried eating breakfast there at all, again, the chef did come out and walk me around the buffet and tell me what was ok to eat and what was not ok.

Thanks for all the experiences and comments. aussietravellers, I also worry about foods being accidentally mixed or prepared near the nuts so it's probably a good idea to skip it for now. We have never had to use an epi-pen on her and I would freak if I ever had to!

Thanks again!

With a SIL highly allergic to shellfish and peanuts, she tells us she cannot trust anyone with her allergy. She always carries an epi-pen as well.
It is when nuts come into contact with the cooking surface and then the surface is not washed down.
She has two restaurants locally that she totally trusts as they just do not use both her allergies. Took her a long time to find them but they are good.
