Hi All,
We were thinking about trying Boma but I am thinking it might be too spicy- am I wrong for thinking that? :confused3

It is Spicy but not spicy "hot". They use different combos of spices. If you family enjoys trying different foods then it is a excellent choice. I could just eat the soups & desserts & be happy.

Not spicy, perhaps unusually spiced however. It isn't curry or pepper spicy though.

I have acid reflux and cannot eat anything too spicy without having problems. I pay dearly for a night of good Mexican food. I had no problems at Boma. I loved the food there. While some of the food was unique, I thought that is was wonderful. I am now a huge fan of sun-dried tomato hummus. I had never actually had hummus before Boma.

I wouldn't worry- the only spices I tasted were sort of a cinnamony/clove thing in many of the dishes. It got a bit silly after a while because so many of the dishes had that same flavor, which I did not like. I found the food there rather bland and not at all up to the hype it gets.

I found one dish to be very spicy, but that was it. As others have mentioned it is differently spiced, but I found it to be good. The nice thing is that you can take small portions to start and go back for more later if you so desire.

Some of the foods are and some are not. I love it there the soups are fantastic.

Bomo's is great. nothing there is spicey "hot". One sauce you put on your meat is. But I would say try it - for sure.

Boma has only a couple of items that are a little spicy like hot pepper spicy, but nothing fiery hot. There are all kinds of different spices in the food. It's Mediterranean/North African-type flavors.

I don't know what you ate, but I absolutely did not taste cinnamon or cloves in the majority of the dishes I tried, and I had a little bit of everything that was meatless. It seemed like there was a great variety of flavors as a matter of fact. Since I've read reviews like yours before we went, I asked my husband (meat-eater) if he tasted the same spice in everything, and he said he didn't. And I didn't find the food to be bland. I guess if I were expecting hot spicy food like at our local Ethiopian restaurant, I might have been disappointed.

The best thing about a buffet is being able to put just a spoonful on your plate. If you like it, great.. go get more! If not, there's no harm. :)

Like the folks above have said, some of the food is spiced not quite like American dishes, but not spicy hot. Give it a try!

Since we didn't eat there the same time or day, we obviously didn't have the same experience. I am also a meat eater, and I tasted this spice in meat dishes as well as non meat. I don't remember the names, but there was some sort of lamb dish, some sort of stew, some dish with ground meat, a few side dishes, and so on. I didn't say it was cinnamon, I said it was a cinnamon/clove kind of taste. I also said it was in many of the dishes, not all of them. I really don't know what the spices were as I didn't bother asking the chef.
