I think that even "picky people" will find something to eat at Boma. My teenage son is picky and I am a bit that way myself, and we lOVED Boma! There are the "standards" there like mac and cheese, pasta, meatballs, chicken nuggest, and so on, as well as Boma's specialty/African themed foods. We tried a "dab" (taste only) of what all looked appetizing to us individually on our first plate. We tried the dab, decided what we thought was good, and returned for a second plate of servings of food (that way there wasn't waste). You might want to try that with the kids. It has beautiful decor, the animals are awesome, and it is fun exploring the lodge.
When my two little ones were 3 we went a few times that trip. One night they had these great chicken tender/fingers and they ate those, but the next night they had chicken on the bone which they wouldn't eat. Anyway, the chef's made my kids chicken tenders and brought us a plate of them and they made them triple decker grilled cheese sandwiches and they found them some cereal. They didn't charge extra and were very nice about it. Just ask the chefs, that is one of the things I love about Boma. They want you to talk with the chefs and have a personal experience. So yes, if your kids are picky like mine, they probably will find something to eat, if not, they will make it for you
There's a station with comfort foods. There's always a station with comfort foods at a Disney buffet. My suggestion for going to Boma with kids that little is not to tell them others think it's "exotic". If they think the food is "weird" then they won't try it. Act like it's just like any other Disney buffet and see what they do. They won't go hungry with the comfort foods (my husband pigs out on those while we are there).
My kids were 4 and 5 and loved Boma. I wish it was easier to get to so we could go again. They have mac and cheese and chicken fingers for kids, and the desserts are to die for!
