Boise State???

While we're on the subject of Idaho colleges - how about University of Idaho in Moscow?

My son is interested in Engineering, Spanish (hopes to do a semester abroad), and Instrumental Music. UofI seems to fit the bill. Any thoughts?

U of I is a good school if your son has a great deal of self control. It is well known as a party school here in the state.

I'm sure the same could be said of any school over a period of time but U of I just seems to make the headlines more often then others. I think they have had two kids fall out of third floor windows so far this year.

If he wanted to do well at Idaho he would. Same as any place I guess.

My son is currently a student at U of I studying Spanish. He absolutely loves it! Have you been to Moscow to check it out? They have Vandal Friday in the spring (which is when my son decided to go there) but you can arrange for a visit anytime.

kat, my brother went to law school there. He really enjoyed it. Moscow is a smaller town right across the ID/WA border from WSU in Pullman.

Its a really clean campus which is nice. That may a strange observation but that was what I noticed right off. We often did debate team competitions there too and it always seemed like a friendly place. It has a solid reputation as a good school.

I can't say enough good things about Moscow and the U of I! I think it's a great small, friendly, college town.

I don't think U of I is any worse than any other university in Idaho and definitely not worse than WSU next door. Yes, they've had 2 students fall from windows. Both involved alcohol and both were at fraternity houses not in U of I dorms.

Good to hear. We haven't visited yet. DS is a junior so we'll be visiting around this spring. I definitely see WSU as a party school, though I also know lots of non-partiers that have gone there. I'm glad you don't think UofI is worse!

THE HOME OF THE BRONCOS
Bronco Stadium is the home of Boise State University football and the Roady's Humanitarian Bowl, held each December.
In 2008 the Stueckle Sky Center was opened and the capacity of Bronco Stadium went up to 32,000. The four level facility includes loge boxes, club seating, sky suites and game/media operations for Boise State home football games. Additionally, five individual banquet style or meeting room spaces are located throughout the 131,000 square foot facility.
The stadium was expanded to 30,000 seats prior to the start of the 1997 football season. The two-year expansion project raised the seating total from 22,600 to 30,000 seats. Included in the $10 million project is the additional seating in the southwest and southeast corners, construction of the Allen Noble Hall of fame gallery and completion of the Larry and Marianne Williams Plaza.
Originally constructed with 14,500 seats at a cost of $2.2 million in 1970, Bronco Stadium has undergone two expansions since then. In 1974, the east side upper deck was added, increasing the seating capacity to 20,000. Portable end zone seating had the capacity of Bronco Stadium at 22,600 through the 1996 season. At that point, the most recent expansion took place, raising the current capacity to 30,000. With the original cost of Bronco Stadium, and the two subsequent expansions, the total cost of Bronco Stadium is estimated over $13.54 million.
Bronco Stadium is also home to the only blue Astro Turf in the World. The current turf is the new "Astro Play" which was installed during the summer of 2002. It's also the third blue field at the stadium. Boise State established a first in 1986 by installing the first blue Astro Turf field. The second blue Astro Turf was installed in 1995. Other schools have special color projects for the end zone area, but Boise State is the first to have the entire field produced in a special color. There have been two previous green Astro Turf fields installed prior to 1986. The first was during the original construction of the current stadium in 1970, with the second installed prior to the 1978 season.

Blue collar. These are the players that the big schools didn't want. Yet every year we win with the "little" guys.

and when we wear our pretty blue home uniforms we blend in and it makes it especially hard to tackle us.......a strategic decision I am sure ;)

Thanks for all of the info.

We are in CA and things are very rough here, especially for the average student (my son has a 3.2 GPA)

Many of the Cal States are moving towards only accepting the students in the geographic area, and waitlisting lots of other students, and accepting the ones with higher test scores and GPA's. I just got word today that another school has joined this trend (Cal State Monterey Bay)

So, two years ago we never envisioned our son going out of state....now I am assuming he will.

It's very stressful.

Have you looked at the WICHU schools? Thats a great way to make out of state more affordable. DS opted to stay local at Univ of Nev. Reno but he lives on campus which gives him the "out of state" feel

THAT was a fun game to watch! :)

especially Blount going crazy after the game.

Personally I dispise Cinderella now and days. It's been played out. Will someone just beat Boise State already?

What are WICHU schools? I know about WUE (Western Undergraduate Exchange,) but haven't heard of the other.

-Just looked it up and they're the same thing!
