Hi,

Got a question about the BOG rooms. From what I understand, there is the Ballroom, the Library, and the West Wing.

  1. Do you get a choice of which room you'll sit in at dinner?
  2. What is the difference?
  3. Which do you recommend (if a choice)?

I'm sure you can request a certain room, the theme of each room is different, I'm sure any are lovely though.

Lunch, you can sit in any room you want where you can find an empty table.

Dinner, you're assigned. You can request but no guarantees. Note that the Rose Gallery dining room is NOT always open for seating at dinner. Most of the time it is but sometimes it is closed off.

Main Ballroom is a large room, lots of echoes and loud when it is full, it is modeled after the ballroom where Belle and Beast dance the waltz in the movie. If you sit by the window you will see that it is "snowing" outside (which isn't really outside.)

The West Wing is small, dark, and has thunderstorm effects, an enchanted rose that actually molts, and a portrait of the Beast as a prince that sometimes reverts to beastly form. It is by far the smallest room. May want to avoid if you have small kids who won't like the darkness or thunderstorm effects. If you sit near the rose, remember it's usually surrounded by people taking photos of it (with flash)

Rose Gallery is not as large as the ballroom, decorated with tapestry scenes with the film characters and a music-box type rotating sculpture of Belle and Beast dancing.

Hi,

1. You can always request a room but there is no guarantee. It depends on what is available.

2. Each room has a different feel. The ballroom is perfection. It is very grand and is a perfect replica of the movie. The gallery has pictures of Belle, the Beast, and friends all along the wall with a music box turning figure of Belle and the Beast in the center of the room. The West Wing is a lot darker. Like the movie you will find the red rose there. There are also some fun aspects that happen every couple of minutes.

3. I have had dinner in all three of the rooms. I definitely prefer the ballroom. It is absolutely magical. We still enjoyed our meals in the other rooms. It is just a different feel. However, they encourage you to look at the other rooms so you won't be missing out. :goodvibes

We've had lunch & dinner in the a West Wing, and lunch in the ballroom. We prefer the west wing, especially for dinner. It is more intimate. The ballroom is much too loud and feels like eating in Grand Central Station!

We have eaten in the Ballroom and the West Wing. We were surprised that our 7 year old was terrified in the West Wing. She is normally all about scary stuff, loves Tower of Terror, Haunted Mansion, etc....watches "scary" movies and shows and stuff but she was really scared in the West Wing. So much so that it made it difficult to enjoy our meal because she was almost crying...

So, I guess if you have a somewhat timid child, the West Wing might be a problem. FWIW, we thought the main ballroom was gorgeous.

We did not have a choice of rooms either time we dined there for dinner.

Thank you. Wow...this place sounds like something unlike any other restaurant. Now I see why it's so popular. The Ballroom sounds really magical and a replica of the movie. Sounds really neat. Can you wander into the West Wing to take a look and see the rose?

Called and they said I wasn't able to request a preference on my dinner reservation!

Just you definitely can! Make sure you are there for one of the thunderstorms so you can see some disney magic.

When you check in for your ADR, you can ask if it is possible to be seated in the room of your choice. There is no guarantee.

As the PP said, you can (usually) request which room you wanted to be seated in at dinner, but they may not be honoring requests. It may also result in a longer wait time (especially for the West Wing because it's fairly small and pretty popular).

I've only had dinner in the Ballroom and I would not opt to sit there again if I had a choice. While it is pretty to look at from a distance, it can be loud and it has the feel of a convention center dining hall. Nothing about it really said "Beauty and the Beast" to me. It could have been any ballroom/convention center room in that sense. I think the ballroom lends itself better to lunch, when you expect a certain level of cafeteria crowd feeling.

Thank you for the replies. So it sounds like The West Wing is the better room (if we even get a choice)?

I wouldn't necessarily say it's the better room. Most of the people I know who have dined at BOG actually prefer to eat in the ballroom. We prefer the WestWing because it is dark, quiet and kind of mysterious.
