With all the construction in what used to be Downtown Disney (I forgot the new name) do the boats still run from DTD to either SSR or OKW? I think i remember reading at one time that the boats no longer go to OKW, but I could be wrong.

TIA!

Unless something has changed in the last two weeks, boats are running from POR, POFQ, OKW and SSR. The boat docks near the Markeplace end is closed though. All boats going to and from resorts dock in the middle of DTD.

In June boats dropped people at West Side from OKW and SSR. If you want to go to the Pleasure Island dock you have to get on a water taxi from West Side.

This is what is happening now. We stayed at OKW last week and the boat took us to West Side. The boat to SSR was docking here as well.

Boat Taxi to PI from West Side but nothing to Marketplace.

DTD is an absolute nightmare. I can't wait until it's finished!!:thumbsup2

Is it just as easy to walk from OKW to DTD considering the boats are dropping off on the Westside?

I guess you could but that path is not lit at night and it's not recommended that you do it. I personally have never even found that path. I like the boat. :)

How is the walk from Saratoga?

Depends on where you stay. From the Grandstand where we prefer you go past the golf clubhouse and onto the path which also is not lit at night and takes you to the area near cirq. I walked it a few times to get some sandwiches at earls and pizza at wolfgang pucks. Walking time was about 20-30 minutes each way.

If your at congress park the walk is much shorter to the marketplace if thats where your heading but not lit either unless things have changed since the path reopened.

I read this on WDWFans the other day -

Work on the new boat dock in Downtown Disney's Marketplace area is nearly completed, and both the Sassagoula Rivercruise and the Water Taxi service will be back to usual operation later this month.

The Marketplace Boat Dock closed several months ago as part of the ongoing construction work that will see Downtown Disney transformed into Disney Springs, a new shopping district. Whilst the main Disney Springs project is not estimated to be completed until some time in 2016, the water boat services should resume normal operation from August 15, 2014.

There are however a few changes to the operations of all boat services that will come into effect on August 15, and of course a few things to remind guests of how the water services work:
•The Water Taxi service runs from the Marketplace dock to the Pleasure Island dock and the West Side dock - they do not stop at Saratoga Springs or any other resorts.
•A separate service which runs from the Pleasure Island dock to Disney's Port Orleans Resort will return to the Marketplace dock.
•A third service that currently runs from the West Side dock to Disney's Old Key West Resort and Disney's Port Orleans Resort will also stop at the Marketplace dock once it reopens.

The new dock will open on August 15, 2014 at 9:00am. A small opening ceremony will be taking place, which is open to the public

Does anyone know how often the boats leave from OKW and SSR - I've heard recently that the service is only running at a boat every hour? We are staying at OKW or SSR next year. Thanks.

It's supposed to be every 20 minutes....not sure why there would be such a delay.

It seems that with the slightest indication of lightning on the radar they close the boats down. In summer, this means very often.

I thought it was something to do with all the Disney Springs construction at the moment. Just hope it's not a permanent schedule. Thanks for replying :)

I was at OKW the week before last, the boats were every 20 minutes and would drop off at West Side right next to Cirque. The one night it was cancelled due to high water. So we took the boat to Pleasure Island and walked to the buses in Marketplace.

Oh, that's great. That's reassuring. We had been undecided between the two resorts, OKW and SSR, and it's important for us to have good access to DTD. Obviously you can walk from SSR quite easily but if there are regular boats from OKW then that would make it easier. We've stayed at SSR the last two visits and wanted to give OKW a try. Thank you so much :)
