Boardwalk view - is it noisy?

If we can't get into BCV, we're going to enquire into a BWV preferred view. Really fancy a boardwalk view, but have heard it can be noisy at night?

Anyone got any views on this please?

I've had BW view 3 times, these were my experiences:

December 2004 - 1 bedroom 5th floor on the corner between Village Green and BW. Quiet.

June 2006 - 1 bedroom 2nd floor above Big River. Nosiy until very late, people talking (and I assume drinking) out on the boardwalk.

December 2006 - 1 bedroom on 4th floor above Screen Door. Quiet.

All 3 times I requested top floor. The only trip with a noise problem was the second one. I contribute that to being on the second floor, plus it being summer. People are probably not going to stand out on the BW talking in the winter.

If you are going in November (saw your booking at 7 month thread), it's very unlikely that you will be able to get a Boardwalk view. Food & Wine Festival time is very popular and I would by very surprised to hear of any standard view or Boardwalk view rooms still available at 7 months for that time. Those are both separate booking categories, not requests.

Anyway, some say that if the balcony doors are closed, the BW view rooms are not noisy. When we stayed in one, we could still hear the boat horns and the noise from the games. We are not light sleepers so it really didn't bother us.

That said, the worst noise (IMHO) comes from the crowd leaving JellyRolls at closing time. If any of them are staying at the BWV, you just have to hope they don't need to walk by your door on the way to their room, LOL. The hallway noise is way worse than anything from the outside.

As written already, the noiser views are above Big River and Jellyrolls. The lower floors, of course, are noiser than the higher floors.

When you are on a lower floor and near the end by Big River and Jellyrolls, even with your veranda door closed you can kiss the silence goodbye.

That being said, if noise does not bother you or if you are not a light sleeper, Boardwalk views offer some really great views and, even, a different perspective on the street level entertainment. It's like sitting in a theatre balcony and viewing the play unfolding below you.

There's nothing wrong with standard view but there's nothing like the WOW of opening your window and seeing the lake.

For November 18 to 23, chances are you will not get a standard or boardwalk view, at least not without waitlist.

It would be for the 1st week of Nov we'd want it, but obviously with F&W being on, I kow the standard views will be gone. Thought there maybe a chance of a preferred view though, if we can't get into BCV.

Preferred view at Boardwalk is actually split into 2 reservation categories, boardwalk view and pool/garden view (same number of points). For the 1st week of November, your best chance would be a pool/garden, which is about 60% of the BWV rooms.

only had Boardwalk view and last year we were on the 2nd floor right above Big River Grill and if the balcony doors were shut we couldn't here any outside noise and never did here any noise from below.

Actually, there's not a lot not to like about the standard view rooms. If "view" is an absolute must, standard might not do it for you, as you will end up overlooking the parking lot or something just as exciting.

If, however, a really nice room in a really nice resort suits you fine, a standard view is great. Sometimes it can even be better than some of the preferred views. I remember a couple of standard view rooms I had on the fifth floor overlooking the front of the Boardwalk. Excellent place for viewing the higher fireworks of EPCOT right from the balcony. Some other "standard" views even give you a nice view of the duck pond or corner viewing the waterway going to MGM.

So, as I say, all the rooms, imho, are really nice. But for a guaranteed view, you would want to book a Boardwalk view or a pool/water view.

The nice thing about standard rooms is that they are much less points. You can stay there more often that way!

Standard view is about 20% of the resort. The vast majority of these rooms face the drive. They are arguably the best bargain within DVC (I'd give OKW GVs the edge) and are in high demand - so owning is your best bet for getting these rooms - but LOTS of people have had luck at the seven month window over the years.

Boardwalk View is about 20% of the resort and faces the Boardwalk. While I'm not enamoured of the view (and I think its noisy - not disturbingly so, but noticably so), it is a guarenteed view and if standard view isn't available, we book it. Like most BWV owners. (Some just always grab the Boardwalk View and skip the SV rooms). So once again, owning and booking before the seven month window is your best bet for getting these rooms, but LOTS of people have gotten them without having the home resort advantage.

60% of the resort remains. Some of these views rival anything on the Boardwalk, some are worse than the standard view rooms. There aren't always clear lines - the rooms facing the Village Green are "practically Boardwalk" and are preferred view - but the rooms at the end of the resort are next door to Standard View rooms, really don't have a better view, and are also preferred view. And its really luck of the draw - we've had bad luck getting location requests met at BWV. If the resort is 40% full, plan on preferred view being what is left.

Boardwalk is particularly popular among its owners from Food and Wine through the Marathon in January, so those are the worst times to try and get a SV or BW View room without the home resort advantage. It happens, but your best chances are at other times of the year.

OMG I had the studio to that 2nd floor room! It was AWFUL and yes they DO stand outside even in the winter. Drunks don't mind the cold.

We moved to the 5th floor directly above and it was MUCH better. If we ever do BWV again we will take a pool view over that area!!!

We were on the 4th floor Crest of the Wave bldg and didn't hear any noise when the door was shut. When it was open you could hear the BW music and the people but it wasn't bad at all.

We found the Boardwalk view was noisy at times especially when there is entertainment going on... which actually wraps up rather early now... but we request a pool view now.

When we first stayed in a Boardwalk view room years ago they help a street party with outside sound system blaring... it was horrible and we complained a LOT as it happened several nights. The music was inescapable in the room with the doors shut.
