Boardwalk Rowdy???

The vibe I got from Disney was it would be (and truly feel is) completely safe.
The incident that happened this past week in Downtown Disney is an aberration, IMO. I think it is impossible to root out evil and DownTown Disney is (again,..... my opinion only) less controlled than the resorts. As bad as the allegation is, the alleged person was caught. No solace to the victim, but at least they took action.

Boardwalk is truly a family friendly place. As a matter of fact, the cost of Disney "drinks" keep most people in check anyway :).

I doubt you and your 10 y/o dd need to worry unless you're drunk and wandering around DTD after midnight! I'm not making light of that awful incident....but the vast majority of guests at WDW aren't putting themselves in a position to have this happen.
My dd was allowed to be at BW in her own when she was 13. That's our home resort and she knows her way around like the back of her hand.

Here's the biggest issue at WDW...parks and resorts. People tend to get caught up in the 'Disney bubble'. They let their guard down. But, in all reality, there are not so nice people at WDW. There are thieves, there are pedophiles, there are rapists...just the same as any other highly populated area. So, you need to be aware of your surroundings, at all times.
The Boardwalk area is as safe and family friendly as possible. You really shouldn't have any cause for concern. The only time I have seen behavior that was close to rowdy, was when Jellyrolls closes, around 1-2am. Sometimes those that have had too much too drink can be a bit loud!!!!

Thanks that makes me feel much happier...

The Boardwalk is tame. The only time I witnessed something not so great was a year ago. A group of teenagers were on a balcony yelling out things at people walking along the boardwalk. I spoke with a CM who was already looking at them. In a matter of minutes, it was taken care of & the group were no longer on their balcony & all was quiet again.
Side note to this: the group of kids were there for a sleep over type of one night party thing for a 16 yr old. I'm assuming not all were sleeping since there were more than 5 kids & were boys & girls.

Can i ask people here from someone that has never been, how is the Boardwalk at night is it fine to walk with 10yr old girl or is it in any way rowdy around the bars thanks in advance..

I used to think I was just never where the rowdy was, but after all my trips including F&W nights, I've yet to see rowdy anywhere at Disney.

My whole family likes to take some time out to go to the Boardwalk to walk around at night. We have been taking our kids with us ever since they were little (they are 14 and 12 now). The street performers are fun for all ages, and there is an ice cream shop and bakery if you have a sweet tooth, it's great to get something sweet then sit at a table or bench and just people watch or watch the Friendship boats go by. And while you are at it, check out the Boardwalk In Resort, it is gorgeous inside :thumbsup2.
