I am planning my trip for Jan 06, and I am probably staying at the contemp. If it does not work out, would you choose the boardwalk or beach club? I have 3 children, so I like to be close to food places. So I would appreciate any thoughts on which resort is more convient. Also, the beuty of the rooms. Thanks

I have never stayed at the Beach Club, but have stayed twice at the Boardwalk and love the resort. I would imagine the rooms are very similar with the only difference being the colors/decorations.
Keep in mind that neither has a food court although there are many places to eat in the Epcot resort area.
We bought breakfast a few mornings at the Belle Vue room inside the Boardwalk and brought it back to our room. Nice selection and good prices.

I suggest you go over to allearsnet.com and check out dining and menus for the Epcot resorts (Beach Club, Yacht Club, Boardwalk, Swan and Dolphin).

We love both!

I have 3 kids also and they really enjoy the pool at BC. In Jan. you never know how much you will use it but when we were there the kids managed to get in the pool a few days.

We like the EPCOT area resorts during the off season because the MK usually closes early and EPCOT & MGM are open later for the night time shows. Staying in this area gives us the option to walk or boat to the 2 parks that are open later. The BW also has night time entertainers that we like to see. So we seem to find more to do staying at the BC or BW.

For dining you can easily get to either resort or even to all the restaurants in WS.

I would go with one with a better arcade

POR, CONT or POP. both POR and POP have a food court.

WL/VWL also has a nice arcade.

that say BWV has a wonderful commuity hall where your kids will be entertained for hours.

Boardwalk gets my vote! Has a lot to do and it's not as spaced out as Beach / Yacht club. Either way, both sides are just a boat ride away! :)

I should add that the Boardwalk's rooms are the prettiest onsite, in my humble opinion. I LOVE the decor there, and they are quite large. As for food places, I really like the pizza from Spoodle's take-out window, and the candy shop on the Boardwalk. The Flying Fish was great, but pricey. Everything we got in the bakery was good, too. We liked getting stuff like chips or soda from the Green Door near Wyland's gallery.

As far as the Beach club, we like it there, too, but I haven't tried Cape May or the Yachtsman steakhouse, so I don't know. I have tried Beaches and Cream and both the burgers and the sundaes were great. In concierge, I didn't like the appetizers there are much as the appetizers at the WL's concierge, and I was told the food was from Cape May and Yachtsman, but I don't know if that says anything. The rooms are cute at the Beach club, but not as pretty as at the Boardwalk, IMHO. The pool is more exciting at the Beach club, but the Boardwalk's is nice, too. Have you seen pictures of them? :wizard:

I will check ot the Boardwalk's pool, that for your informative review. This is going to be tough, but I am just looking forward to a magical trip with the kids and my parents :cool1:

question?

how old are your children?

we have stayed in both and you can definitely swim in January. the pool is way heated.

I love BW personally speaking, but many kids enjoy the BC pool. I found it terrribly over crowded and not able to snag a chair but in January, it might be a lot different.

beaches & cream is right next door to hotel and very cute for a burger or ice cream.

If teens, definitely do bw

I have stayed at the Beach Club once and the Boardwalk twice. We actually own DVC at the Boardwalk and still my vote is the Beach Club. I love both places but the pool at the Beach Club is unbeatable. I believe it would be easier to get some relaxing time (having 3 kids and all) at the beach club!!! Either choice is a real good one though!

My children are 10, 7, 1. My parents are coming for their first time as well, so I am trying to plan a fun trip for all.

I've stayed at both, and I think that with kids, I'd choose the Beach Club. Although you can get to food offerings from both places, Beach Club offers the Beach Club Marketplace (located where the gift shop's been). You can get there while remaining covered, a great plus if it's raining or you want to stay in your slippers. Great for cereal, breakfast, snacks without going far. And that gelato-mmmm!

Is there a certain standard view room that I could request. One that is easy to get to trans, or the food places. Or just plain easy to get to

For room requests, I requested a standard view with a view of the courtyard and got a lovely view of the rose garden at the Boardwalk. At the Beach club, I had a view of the inner walkway and another wing of rooms. I don't know where a better view at the BC for standard rooms might be, but ours was nice because we could see Illuminations over the top of the second wing of rooms.

As far as the ages of your kids, it might be fun at Stormalong Bay because your 7 and 10 year old would like the currents and slides, while your 1 year old would like the baby sandbottom pool area. It's kind of hard to keep track of kids sometimes at the Beach club because there are actually 4 different pools in SAB,and one, with the smaller pirate ship slide, is actually on the opposite side of the walkway. It's GREAT fun for kids, however, and I can vouch that my 6 year old son adores stormalong bay. The themed pool at the Boardwalk is only one pool, so with several children it's much easier to see them all at once--of course, it's not as elaborate, but it is very nice just the same.

Both are wonderful resorts--tough decision, I know :flower:

thanks for the info, you are right this is a tough decision. I think you are right though, my older children would love SAB. I will make DH swim with them.

Well, here's another vote for Beach Club....it is just an amazingly beautiful resort!! There's the marketplace that has really great food (take out) and gelato. There is Beaches 'n Cream which is the BEST burgers on WDW property (they also have food to go) and AMAZING ice cream. There is Hurricane Hanna's which is a food place inside Stormalong Bay. They have a really great kids meal which comes in a bucket with a shovel...it is SO cute. After the kids eat, they can play in the sand of the pool. Cape May is a buffet place that is really nice. In the morning it is a character breakfast with Minnie, Goofy and friends in their beach attire. I think it is great to have a character b'fast in your hotel when you have small kids.

One of the things that sets BC apart from BW for me, is that BC is built around the pool. It faces the Crescent lake....so, when you are swimming you see the Boardwalk and all the boats/activity of the lake. At BW, the pool is on the parking lot side of the hotel...kind of out of the way for me. Also, BW does not have ANY amenities inside the hotel....everything is out on the Boardwalk. This is not a big deal for most people, but in inclement weather, it is nice not to have to go outside to get food.

Also, the Boardwalk does not have access to the beach of Crescent Lake. One of my family's favorite activities is to sit in a swing chair on the lake and watch the sun go down, or even watch illuminations from the beach...it is so special. My mom and stepdad usually take a glass of wine on the beach and enjoy the boats going by. For us, there is a big difference between being "on" the beach, and being elevated from it.

I would rather stay at Beach Club than ANY resort on property....it is a VERY special place.
