Boardwalk Bride's PJ Morocco/Canada/Attic/SCP updates 01/09!!

With less than 8 months to go, it is time to get serious about getting in shape!! I joined weight watchers in June, and lost NO weight at all! The problem with WW is that I can eat whatever I want, as long as I stay within the points. Well, I know my body, and I know I need to eat a lot of fiber, and a lot more protein. So here are my new plans!

#1 Health

I am tracking my food on prevention.com's health tracker. This works better for me since I can see exactly how much carbs, protein, fiber, etc I am eating. I also find it a bit easier to use, and I like that it has a nutrition break down as well (it breaks down vitamins and minerals)! Oh, and it is FREE!!

#2 Fitness

I decided to re-join the gym. I had a theory that I would work harder if I didn't have a gym membership, since I would feel guilty about not having one. It worked at first, but declined fast! We moved downtown in the spring, so it is annoying to jog around here, because there are so many cars/people/buildings in the way. Not to mention I hate jogging. Also, there are too many distractions in my house, so I never work out for as long as I know I can.

At the gym, I love the fitness classes (the dance ones especially) and they burn 400 + calories an hour. My goal to start with is to get in 5 hours of cardio a week, and one hour of weights (which I can do at home as well).

So we are going to the gym tonight to re-join! I am actually pretty excited because it will give me something to do in my free time! I also know I have a stressful few months ahead, since I have 2 jobs, 2 classes, and I am trying to finish my paper to graduate, so it will be a great stress reliever!

:thumbsup2 you are awesome. hahaha I wish I could go to the gym but I have no money :( I have been on weight watchers myself. helpful tip i learned while on my diet. there are a bunch of zero calorie fruits and veggies, meaning you burn more calories to digest then you take in. So you can eat insane amounts and be full but loose weight! I was very excited when I learned this and it has helped me a bunch! Best of lunch!

I know what you mean about staying on your goal. one minute your grooving along, the next thing you know motivation is out the window! its hard, but i have learned that if i work out with someone, we can keep each other on target! Best of Luck to ya!

Last night DF was playing around on my laptop, and he started looking through the wedding organizer I made. After landing on the "cake" page I made, he started to question the mad hatter. He asked how much the upgrade was...and than he decided he didn't want it (and the cake is the one thing I told him could be his decision). To get a mad-hatter (in particular Heidi's) it would cost us an additional $350, which I guess is pretty ridic when we won't even see it for that long. So anyway, he went back to wanting two tiers from this cake:

Now, I have been looking through all the Escape info I was sent this morning, and I am starting to grow on the modern deco. Here is a reminder:
cakecolo.png

It does look kinda carnival-ish, and we could probably change the colours without a charge (or very much of a charge). What do you ladies think? Do you think we could do the modern deco, with an aqua base, than red deco on the bottom, and pink on the top? I have a phone meeting with my consultant on monday, so I am trying to figure out what we want now! LOL

I also want to try and schedule our photo sessions when I speak to her. We know we want to do MK, but it is only $300 extra to add Epcot. So, I think we will do both :rotfl: I know $300 is till a lot of extra money, but we are completely obsessed with Epcot (we are geographers from our undergrad....so we love the environmental stuff in futureworld, and everything in world showcase). So I think I will try and schedule it on the day that is supposed to be out trash the dress day, so that if we do keep it, at least we can do all our extra photography in one day!

We signed back up for the gym last night! We are going to start tonight....I am actually really excited!!!! :yay:

I really like the modern cake. totally cute! I think it would work.

I totally understand what your DF is saying about the cake. My husband feels the same way. In the end I rather used the money saved on a photo shoot than for cake you only get to see for a short period of time and then eat it! But I do love some cake...it is a work of art.

I wish you the best of luck! I know its tough to stick to dieting & exercising! All year I kept saying it was time to get serious and get in shape, and I've lost a whopping 7lbs. :lmao:

The dance gym classes sound like fun - and easier to stick with! We got a wii and just got the new "personal trainer" game, which finally is something I will stick to. Its fun and it's in my own home - so I dont feel embarrassed at the gym!;)

AND - I LOVE the cotton candy idea! Your theme is so much fun!

My hubby and I were thinking about the same thing, a mad hatter cake is very expensive. I was thinking of taking the modern deco cake and change the brown to black and make the gold dots into silver. Your idea for the color change is great...loving it!!!

I think if you really want both MK and Epcot shoot you should go for it, it's your day!:thumbsup2

Good luck with the dieting and hopefully paying for the gym membership will keep you motivated :thumbsup2

We are thinking about photos in Epcot too. It is really special to get the castle shots at MK but Epcot is so well themed you get some really great photos. Plus you can chose the locations, I am leaning towards Morocco and Italy (plus Japan if we have time). You can also justify the extra spend if you chose the other cake :lmao:

Same! We decided we don't really like any of the Escape cakes (well, we like them, just not for our wedding) but we don't want to splurge on a mad hatter either! I hope our choice won't cost too much more

Thanks :goodvibes 7lbs is still a lot better than nothing! I really wanted to get a wii, but I work from home, so sometimes I just need to leave, so the gym made more sense!

I think changing to modern deco colours works well for a lot of brides (there are a few on here who have done it). We tried subbing in our colours, and it looks awful! We decided to go with the red and blue one that I posted right before the modern deco...and we will just use the middle two layers.

I agree! I understand some people saying they don't like Epcot because you cannot really tell you are in Epcot, but for me, it isn't about the fact that I am in a park (for Epcot anyway, in MK you want to look like you were there :rotfl:) Since most of our life goals revolve around traveling, it just suits us so much! Plus, the pics look really awesome! We are currently narrowing down between: norway, germany, japan and canada. I guess Canada is kind of pointless, since it seriously looks like pictures I can get almost anytime at home, but I still love it!!! We really like norway, germany and japan, since those are all places we want to visit soon, and maybe that will give us inspiration :rotfl:

So I had my phone convo with my coordinator this morning. She was really nice, very helpful, and gave me some honest opinions on my ideas, which I really appreciated. She told me the Attic is available so far, and some DP locations are. I am trying to decide whether our DP should be at Morroco or African Outpost. African Outpost is $50, but I don't think you pay a set up fee (I am not exactly sure) so I guess you save $25. I'll have to talk with DF about it tonight. Our other problem is that we had a certain day we were hoping to have our MK/EP portrait on, but since it is "grad night" she doesn't think it will work. She thinks that doing it the morning of our wedding is best, but I am not sure DF would be up for it! Loreli did it, and I thought it looked like a great idea....so we will see.

I am waiting for her to get back to me on a few things...I will have more updates soon once I know what I can do!

hey! i was searching for escort cards for myself and found this! thought you'd like it

Aww, thanks for thinking of me:goodvibes I don't think I am going to use escort cards, but that is a great way to display lollipops at the candy bar (if we have an at home reception).

I am currently deep into planning, since I have had my consultation. I am trying to get as much figured out as possible before school starts, so I have been going over our cake, flowers, menus, everything!! Since nothing is set in stone at the moment, and we are making so many decisions, I will wait to update until I am more organized!

We did book our MK/Epcot photosession! I am sooooo excited! I was so against it when we first started planning (but I also wanted to have my dinner at Kona and no dessert party....so a lot has changed!). We were planning on having it done about 5 days after our wedding, but due to "grad day" the castle will have some kind of draping on it. So we pretty much had to choose between our wedding day, and the day after. Our WC suggested the morning of our wedding, and after DF and I talked about it, we decided it was the best option anyway. This way, I can have my hair and makeup done (which I wasn't going to) and we have to get up early anyway, so whatever :rotfl: I feel like this will make us more relaxed to. I have been reading Lori's PJ, and she seemed to like her decision to do that, so I decided I would try as well!

Congrats on the photo sessions. We are going this route too in having our MK and Epcot photo shoot that morning. I'm doing Blizzard Beach trash-the-dress on the weekend and Animal Kingdom that morning to save time.

I thought you were doing that as well! I think it is really a great idea for people who don't plan on keeping separate. Not only does it save time, but I think it will help build up to the ceremony, and also help us to feel more relaxed and less rushed. By the time our wedding roles around, we will have lived together for 3 years....sleeping in the same bed almost every night, so we just figured why make it any different for that day (that is our opinion anyway, I understand some people like tradition).

So I said I would updated as decisions are actually made in concrete (and confirmed with disney) so that I don't have to put people through my indecisiveness anymore! So, here is my first official decision...the cake!!! The one we ended up with was:

cake4-1.png

So we are going with the part in the yellow box. I really loved the mad hatter idea, but I thought maybe something more simple would look better...plus the total cost of upgrade for this cake was $50! Not too bad at all! For flavours, our bottom tier is marble with buttercream (if we make cake, that is always what we make!) and the top is carrot cake. Since we are not saving our top layer, we wanted something we could eat for the rest of the week...and we don't feel bad eating carrot cake for breakfast :rotfl:

Our WC is being really great about letting us do as much as possible, so that we don't have to worry about it during school, and so we can get a BEO sooner than later. Right now we are working on our menus for the lunch and DP. I'm going to see what I can do to get any carnival food into the lunch!

Oh, I wanted to give a tip to Escape brides as well. If you want to do a rehearsal dinner as an ADR, your WC can book it for you. That way, it is just added to your total bill. So if we want to do Hoop de doo or the Luau, instead of paying it all upfront at the 180 day mark, she an just put it on our BEO :thumbsup2

Oh and I have one more thing I just remembered. Since we are having our AKL photo shoot with Randy (our trash half the dress...since I am cutting off the bottom) on a different day, I decided I want to dress more AKL like (if that makes sense), so I have 2 different looks. I found this awesome necklace to wear as well!

It is from Juicy Couture, so I am hoping I can find a deal on it eventually!

We also decided to stay at Jambo house instead of Kidani. The only reason behind this is that it has more food options. When I get hungry, I need to eat right away, and since there isn't many options at Kidini, Jambo made more sense. We are also going to save up for the Wanyama/Sunset Safari! Has anyone every done this? Basically, you meet up at Jiko at 4, have a drink, than go on a safari around the hotel grounds and get up really close to the animals! Afterward, your group has dinner at Jiko, and it includes a bunch of appetizers, a few main dishes, dessert and wine pairings! If anyone is interested, I can post the link to a good TR I found on it!

I love the idea of the Sunset Safari! Do you know how much it is?

everything sounds great! congrats on making decisions! yay! I really like the cake. The necklace is suuuuper cute. I would like to know more information about that safari, do you have to be staying at AKL to go on it?
