Boardwalk Bride's PJ Morocco/Canada/Attic/SCP updates 01/09!!

Hi!

YAY!! For doing the photoshoots the morning of the wedding!!

I'm not sure what you guys are up to the night before, but if you get to bed early, you really should be ok. As you know from reading my TR, we hit the sack right after IllumiNations...

Also, thought I would let you know, DH and I did the Wanyama Safari on our trip last year (October) and it was totally worth it! Let me know if you have any questions about it!

I wanna go back now and re-read your PJ! So I think I will! Dammit. ;)

Two other quickies:

DH and LOVE San Angel Inn! We always get the Mole Poblano and it's the best I've ever had!
You can probably request a table next to the "river" where the boat ride is, that way you won't be surrounded by other tables. But I think the lighting is so romantic in there and with the strolling mariachis, even if you sit next to other tables, it's nice.

I like either hairstyle #1 or #3 actually is my fave of the 3.

Also, I know I have to post them, but Randy took some GREAT pics of us at Jambo House before our Jiko dinner...I would have even liked to take more time with him there if we could..

Ok, that's it for now, everything looks great so far!

:)

I showed DF the response I got from asking you about doiing the portraits that morning, and that's what sold him!!! He's like, well they look like fun, and they did it,and we are fun, so lets do it!:rotfl: I'm glad to hear you liked the Safari!!! I did read that people think the food in Jiko is not as good as it is when you order off the menu, did you find that?

It's so good to hear someone else likes San Angel Inn!! I always read such bad things about it. And I was looking forward to the Mole Poblano! I will make sure to request a table next to the river....thanks for the tip!!!

I figured you would have some pics in Jambo house...that is why I am waiting anxiously for your pics :goodvibes Oh, and I wanted to tell you we requested Regina or Amy for our portraits since we loved your so much!!

Well, we like to think we're fun! LOL. Just really try to get to bed not much later than like 9:30 or whatever. :goodvibes
I thought the food was the same! You do get smaller portions, but it's a sample menu which I liked, because rather than just having one entree, you get to sample some which you might not have ordered normally. Also, the chef comes out and tells you what everything is, so that was cool! You do share your table with other peeps though, just a heads up. We made polite conversation with a couple from California and had an enjoyable evening with many sips of wine! ;)

So, if you order the Mole, I'm sure you won't be dissappointed! Ask for the table and get yourself a margarita! You'll be all set! (Hopefully anyway! I'd feel awful if you didn't like it now!)

Yeah, so we do, but as you know, I'm kind of behind in getting my pics up! If you PM me your e-mail, maybe I can try to send you a few of our faves, since I have awhile to get to Jiko in my TR.

I actually preferred Regina to Amy, but I know lots of girls liked Amy a LOT, so I think if you get either one of them, you'll be happy with the results!

Thanks for all the advice!!! We will definitely try to get to sleep early. I find at disney, as soon as I hit the bed, I am asleep, lol! Especially since we are planning on doing Epcot the day before our wedding, I think we will be ready to get to bed around 8:30!

Don't worry about sending me the pictures....I can try and be patient and wait for it in your TR:rotfl:!!!! And yes, hopefully I will be happy with the pics from either Amy or Regina, but I am sure I will be by seeing how everyone else's turned out!

Congrats on getting things done! I love the cake too! And that necklace is too cute!!!

Thanks:goodvibes I haven't found any good prices on the necklace (that are willing to ship to Canada anyway) so I may look for something similar! I love my cake too! I asked them to incorporate some "cotton candy pink" into it, so we will see how it turns out! I can't decide if we should use the mickey and Minnie wedding topper included in our package, buy a new one, or just not have one....oh well, I still have 7 months to worry about that!

Woohoooo!:cheer2:

I got a reservation for AKV-Jambo house!!! So now our ressies are complete! And I lost 3lbs after 3 weeks at the gym!

That is all!

For flavours, our bottom tier is marble with buttercream (if we make cake, that is always what we make!) and the top is carrot cake. Since we are not saving our top layer, we wanted something we could eat for the rest of the week...and we don't feel bad eating carrot cake for breakfast :rotfl:

I found this awesome necklace to wear as well!

It is from Juicy Couture, so I am hoping I can find a deal on it eventually!

*Mmm*...buttercream and carrot cake.

I love the necklace! :)

BTW, I <3 Jiko. That's where I'd LOVE to have our rehearsal dinner. :)

YAY!! We decided to do Jambo house over kidani too... for the food reason AND because i was to get some pictures on the bridge and stuff. :goodvibes

Thanks for the advice about the rehersal dinner! Thats very helpful! Oh and its good to know that your cake upgrade isn't that expensive! :thumbsup2

And woohoo for loosing 3 lbs!:woohoo:

Hey! Just a heads up, but I know you said the elephant necklace was a little expensive, but I'd recommend checking out elephant necklaces on Etsy. I searched for it, and there were 37 pages!!! So it's definitely worth checking it out. :thumbsup2

That's a great idea!! I will def have a look, thanks:goodvibes

Alright, I have a few updates!!! I'll start with the at-home reception one. So Df and I drove to London yesterday, and picked up my MOH, and went to the venue we already had book a deposit on for our reception. We had originally planed on a "traditional" reception, with the head table, DJ, food, etc. I think I already expressed enough on here that we just didn't like that idea, so I won't get into it again.

Anyway, so we went to talk to the wedding coordinator there, to see if there was anything smaller and more casual we could do. She came up with a fabulous idea, and we are going to go with it! We are going to have a cocktail reception from about 7:30 pm to 11:30 pm. We haven't decided yet if it should be a friday or saturday, but I think we are leaning towards friday, so that we don't have to share the space with too many other weddings (there are quite a few rooms in that hotel). So the menu looks fantastic, it cuts the price in half, and it still has soooo much food!!! I also wasn't a fan of the room we had booked (since it is sooo ballroom/typical wedding style) so she showed us a smaller one, that she figured we could all fit in for cocktail style. It is called the Oak Room, here it is:

(This is just a pic from the internet):

I think it is set up for a meeting in this picture, but when we saw it yesterday it was set up for a 40 person cocktail reception (I think we would have 60) and it looked great! The had a mix of tall cocktail tables with normal banquet tables, and it looked a lot better with chair covers as well! So we are really excited about that!

The only negative thing is that I cannot do my "carnival" theme in there, since it is just such a dark/warm room (which I love). I think I might try and do some sort of old fashioned candy theme to it though (For those of you who have been to Cracker Barrel, that is what I am imagining).

Oh, and as we were going to pick up MOH, we drove by the store where I bought my dress, and it was still in the window:lovestruc I teared up a bit :rotfl:

Alright, I will upload more pics, and I have more in the next post!

So back to the disney portion of the wedding!!

When I had my consultation with my WC, I told her that I had hired outside photography (Randy) and that I knew that meant giving up the package one, etc. She informed me that for 2010 brides, they will still send out the Disney photographer to take background pictures, and I will still get the album (as long as Randy agrees). Well, he did!!! So we will have 2 photographers, which I am really excited about!!! I also told Randy I cannot do a "trash the dress" anymore, since my dress costs more than my first car, so we decided on doing a photoshoot at Animal Kingdom Lodge. It will still be fun, because I am not scared to get my dress dirty, since dry cleaning should take all of that out. I will also trash the bottom of the dress, since I am getting it shortened anyhow!

The other thing my WC updated me on was the dessert party. After DF saw the pictures of the new venue, Outpost Overlook, he really wanted to do it there (and so did I). But because we are asking for extra time, and a variety of hot and cold food, we cannot do it there. All the UK ones are booked, so Morocco it is for us (which is fine anyway). We made a custom menu for our dessert party, and got the pricing back, at $32 per person. This is for an hour and a half of food, I think most people do an hour. When it gets closer, I think I will check to see how much we will save by shortening it to an hour, if it isn't much, I might as well keep it.

Okay, just a few more things!!! So well in London yesterday, MOH and I decided it would be a good idea to look at fabrics (and poor DF was dragged along). We were supposed to all meet in Hamilton to do it next weekend, but MOH and I hate Hamilton, and don't know it well enough to drive there, so we wanted to see if we could find something in London. Well, we were in a fabric store for over 2 hours!!! I couldn't find the right colours in the same material, and I thought it would be weird to have the girls in 2 different materials. So we gave up, dropped MOH off, and started to drive home. On our way out of London, we passed another fabric store (same company) so decided to check quickly if they had the colours in the right fabric. So we walked it, went to the bridal section, and found the 2 exact colours side by side!!! Here they are:

I hope my BM's are not mad that I bought it without them, but since I think they were planning on paying for their own fabric, at least I saved them money! I also decided I no longer want them to wear a red sash. I could not find a red that looked right, and I think it is just too much. Instead, we will add red in through shoes, flowers, accessories, like my favourite girls here:

Okay, sorry this has been boring, but just one more thing (for now)! I noticed that the chairs at SBP are not those plastic picnic looking chairs anymore, but look quite a bit nicer. I really don't like the idea of chair covers there, since I think it looks a little formal for the venue (just my opinion) so I thought just a sash could be nice (and probably cut down price)! So here are the ones I am thinking of:

1) Just the regular sash that would be normally with the chair cover:

2) This type of design (not sure if they can do it, but I can ask)

chair.png

3) Or using a more sheer (taffeta I beleive) fabric

tulle2.png

What do you ladies think? And what colour(s) should I use? Should it be all aqua, or aqua and red, or all 3? Ahhh, I don't know!

Thats great to hear about being able to have Randy AND the photopass photographer! Thats awesome! I was tyring to figure out that whole situation but you answered my question so thank you! hahaha!

And i didn't know that they changed the chairs for SBP! I was going back and forth lately on whether i was the chair covers or not.... if i could do something like a sash i think that would be exactly the look i am going for! you'll have to let me know once you get more info on it.

yay for updates! I think the home reception with me super nice! I love the cracker barrel idea. Great find on the fabrics they are really good colors, can't wait to see the finished products! I like the first chair sash. Congrats on being so productive this weekend! :thumbsup2

First off.... congrats on losing lbs!! i really like the necklace you picked for your photos! and all the updated are looking good! the chairs i like the last pic you posted. all 3 colors would look really pretty together.

If you go with the new chairs Disney has for SBP and add the sash, I like that idea of yours better! :thumbsup2

Thanks ladies for all your opinions! I think I will go with just the normal chair sash, I just cannot decide if it should be a solid colours (like the 1st one) or more sheer (like the last one). I found this picture from Lurkyloo's TR, and her's look like organiza with 2 colours:

So I think I might just do that, but without chair covers. I don't know if I should alternate between pink, red and blue, or just have red and blue with pink aisle petals? It is so hard to picture these things in my head, and I cannot find any pictures online of anything similar :headache:

What are you thoughts on balloons at weddings? I know they are generally thought of as tacky, but I LOVE balloons and I am having a carnival theme! I don't even know if there are allowed at disney, but I thought it might be something to look into. Here are some ideas I have found:

1) These ones are more matte, not shiny at all, so they look more classy (and this is a Dior ad, which makes it feel that balloons are chic:rotfl:)
balloon1.jpg

2) I like the shape of these ones, since they look like Lanterns almost, and can be scattered on their own
balloon3.jpg

3) Here is an example of some at a ceremony. I think if there is just a couple at the back (I don't think I want any at the front) it might add enough of what I need, without being tacky
balloon2.png

Please tell me the truth about what you think!! I really need to know if they look tacky, and I won't be hurt by your opinions (I will be thankful!)

Ok I love the color fabric you picked! I think that red shoes and/or flowers would look great with that!!

I also like the idea of doing blue and red sashes (no covers) but not sure about the pink aisle petals…I wonder how it would look with the red sashes. What about pinks sashes and red and blue petals?

i dont think balloons are tacky for weddings at all, and they would completely go with your theme.
so i did some digging and came up with these....

I really like the 2nd photo (but maybe not so high) but have them gathered like the 1st picture but in these balloons in the last picture. that way you can have the blue and red sashes on the chairs but with the pink balloons and pink petals down the aisle.

i hope this kinda helps your visualization you were going for? :)

I like the idea of balloons. I would just make sure if you add them it is done subtly. Too many and it can look tacky.
