We are new to Nashville and have been watching prices, mostly on SWA. It appears that this route stays around $300 R/T. Does that sound accurate? I just got the SWA CC so we could use the 50k points for most of our tickets. The points seem to stay around 8-9K one way. Does that seem accurate? Should I hold out for a deal? They have BNA to CHS for $69 one way all the time. Why is MCO so much more?? It isn't that much further! What about other airlines? Guess I could always bid on priceline, but sure hate the luggage fees and layovers! Any advice?

Airfares are a lot higher than they used to be. Airlines have reduced the number of flights which has resulted in fairly full flights which results in higher airfares. I doubt you will find them coming down much for travel this spring and summer.

You might want to consider driving.

A few years ago, we used to fly from Nashville to Orlando regularly for $39 and even paid $25 once, but those days are gone. Often the lowest fare on the weekly specials is $139 and DINGs are almost nonexistent. There are occasionally $79 or $89 fares, but not very often. $300 RT is not bad. If you wait you might get a better deal. You don't say when you're traveling, but if it's during an busy time of the year (which seems to be about all the time for Orlando), the fare is likely to go up. Sometimes Delta has fares from BNA that are comparable to SWA and sometimes a little less, but you have to fly SWA to get a non-stop flight from BNA to MCO. If there are any savings left after paying the bag fees, it probably won't be worth having a layover in Atlanta.

Driving is not an option with kids our kids' ages.

I guess I will just get 3 free flights with points and buy the other two. Oh well!

I flew $139 each way in February. That is the lowest i have seen in some time. It used to be so much cheaper!
