Blue Sky Rumor: Ride coming to UK Pavilion?

Not at all...tiering means there's isn't enough quality attractions for their prebooking systems to work...therefore it's distributed among "classes"

What color is the sky today...by chance?

I think I've made my point...

You seem very upset about the transition from Norway to Frozen, which I understand. But there is no denying that FEA generates vastly more foot traffic than Maelstrom.

Can we just stop talking about the Mexico ride as if it is at all a worthwhile Disney ride? Frankly it was built with Mexican money to be a Mexico tourist ad back in the early 80s and essentially never updated. The addition of the Tres Amigos just makes it even more sad. I think it is bordering on inappropriate and insulting to Mexico at this point. As I said before, I doubt most people even know it is there, which is probably a good thing. Frankly, I dragged my wife on it during our last visit so we could laugh at how awful it is. It might be the absolute worst ride at WDW from a theme and execution point of view. And that really sucks, because the rest of the Mexico pavilion and the San Angel Inn is really well done. But once you sail past the volcano, the rest of that ride is and should be embarrassing to Disney, Mexicans and the Mexican government and tourist agencies.

A Mexican tourist ad from 1982 is EXACLTY what it was designed to be.

So what exaclty is the argument? That they haven't taken care or it and then went cartoon?

Guilty as charged.

Tiering really has more to do with the capacity of that ride relative to it's popularity. Maelstrom was a tier 2. FEA is a tier 1. It's capacity didn't change, it's popularity did.

Therefore it's a success...it's pretty straight forward.

Just a reminder. I prefer Maelstrom too. But we can't pretend that Disney didn't make the right decision relative to their bottom line.

You are spot on with FEA. But agree tiering is from lack of popular attractions. We just are in the group that doesn't care at EPCOT-not there for that reason (rides).

What it doesn't do is generate MORE foot traffic to the park...which should be the goal.

Attendance is flat. It simply redistributes more people out of future world to it...which may not be a good thing.

Yes. That's the argument. It was fine in 1982. 35 years later it is awful. Then they left the outdated and poorly aging underpinnings and slapped some minor cartoon characters on top of it. How was that supposed to help? How could it not have been cheaper, easier, and more in line with the EPCOT WS just to send someone with a half decent camera to shoot some new audio and video for the existing screens? Or hell, just pay some small change for the dozens of tourist videos that promote Mexico to Americans and slap it in to the screens. I'm not saying the ride machinery and hardscape needed updating, just the audio and movie visuals. The cartooning of the ride seems to me to be mocking the whole set up. "We won't fix your aging video, even though we could. Instead we are going to slap these cartoon cultural stereotypes on here so that people can laugh at your out of date video while enjoying our buffoonery!"

Think about it this way. When they switched from Maelstrom to FEA, the capacity of the ride didn't change, nor did the number of other quality attractions in the park. The only think that changed was it's popularity. There's high popularity and low capacity.

With Soarin, the wait times used to be 100+ almost all the time. Then they built a third theater and the wait times are now "only" 60+, sometimes a bit less. If they built a fourth or even fifth theater (which they'll never do) they could get the capacity so high relative to it's popularity that they could make it a tier 2 attraction. Right?

AK has fewer rides than Epcot, and fewer than HS if you don't count the generic Dinoland carnival rides, yet they don't have tiering because the rides all have very high capacity.

Also, MK has tons of quality attractions yet Peter Pan, Space Mountain and especially 7D frequently have 100+ min wait. Sometimes even higher on busy days.

Disney started giving up on Epcot when the sponsorship arrangements started breaking down...early 90's.

They haven't giving much of a crap since.

I wouldn't quite say that. Soarin, FEA, Mission Space, and Test Track where all built after the early 90's. The 2000's for everything but TT.

Ok...Eisner did start a redo of future world in the 90's...no question.

Then they lost their nerve.

How's future world these days?

Epcot is my favorite park and I like Future World more than WS. It definitely needs some love, but I think you're being WAY too harsh in all of your criticism.

Epcot is the best park ever built...

But I think earlier you dated yourself and I think you said you were actually too young for the glory years...which were 1988-1999

Have you been inside Innovations since 2002?

Yes. It's awful :(

But there's alot more to FW than Innoventions. I love Soarin, Living with the Land, Nemo, Turtle Talk with Crush, Mission Space, and Spaceship Earth. I even really enjoy Ellen and Figment. Test Track is good too but kinda overrated (it's just a car ride lol).

I think Epcot is still a very strong park and in my opinion most of the talent is in FW.

I am only 27 so Epcot was built before I was born. But things have to change and adapt. Also, beware of nostalgia! It's lying to you! lol.
