I bought at BLT sight unseen a few months ago on the recommendation of a friend. And now that I'm reading all these forums, I'm worried I made a huge mistake! It seems like so many people are unhappy as BLT owners, and it's made my excitement over being a DVC member fade quite a bit.

Right now, I've got a tentative trip planned for BLT in February (room reserved, but that's it), but am using my points at SSR and BCV before the end of this year. Someone convince me that I made the right choice buying at BLT! I so want to love it!

We don't own at BLT but we stayed there in January and loved it!! If we had the extra cash we probably would have done an add-on there. Maybe someday!

We bought BLT in Aprile of this year and stayed in a 1BR for 5 nights over mother's day.

Loved every moment of our trip.

Some people have noted some scuffed furniture (there was a big scratch in our kitchen table, but it wasn't that big of a deal to us), etc.

I too was worried just like you because I discovered DIsboards after I bought in and saw all the horror story threads.

Let me put my 2 cents in, recommending a stay on the 5th floor in the south tower. The fifth floor is where the skybridge is located. So each morning when we woke up, we were right there at the skybridge and on the monorail in moments. Loved it, loved it, loved it.

We stayed in a 1BR two weeks ago & it is now our 2nd favorite resort (after Beach Club).

We all loved it!!!:thumbsup2

BLT isn't my cup of tea but most people love it! You can always book other DVC at 7 months out or rent your points at BLT (which would go for a pretty penny) and pay cash at another resort. :thumbsup2

WE own at AKV and BLT we bought BLT sight unseen and are looking forward to our first stay there in 28 days. We have also stayed at SSR and BWV and love them all for different reasons.

I really wouldn't get worked up over anything you see posted on these boards. Keep in mind that people are MUCH more inclined to post something negative, and when they do it is like a lightning rod with other chiming in.

Conversely, the "I just had a great stay at BLT" threads tend to disappear quickly since there really isn't anything to comment on.

Lastly, the posters on these boards represent a tiny percent of DVC owners. I like the information that we see here but I would never let it influence my own enthusiasm for DVC.

Just go, enjoy your trip and let us know how much you loved it! :)

I'm assuming you're referring to posts about furniture conditon? It's rare to see a post that any of the things at BLT have ruined a trip. Or anything that I interpret as being unhappy BLT owners. The posts about room conditions are really just observations - and probably concerns about future costs but don't have much to do with enjoyment of staying at BLT.

There are people who gush over BLT also. I've liked every resort DVC resort I've stayed at but can see pros and cons at all of them. Except VWL or VGC. Those are the two I gush over. ;) And I own points at BLT and am not unhappy over it.

When I bought at BWV in 1999, there were bad reports all over this board. I wondered if I made a mistake. 11 years later, couldn't be happier with my purchase!

We own at AKV and BLT and have stayed at both, as well as VWL, SSR, and OKW. By far BLT is our favorite. For us no matter what the 5 minute walk and the view of the fireworks each night from various locations just makes this a can't be beat place for us.

Are there issues? Yes just like at all the DVC resorts. Some say OKW and SSR are too big, others find the condo style perfect for their vacationing style. Some don't like AKV because it is too dark and remote. Others love the total imersion you get being there. Some say the hallways at BWV are too long. Others don't even notice because of the excitement of the night life and how "alive" the Boarwalk is in the evening. VWL's has "no good views" some say but others see the forest and woods as exactly the feel they would want and expect in a place called Wilderness lodge. That leaves BCV and the main complaints I hear are about others trying to get into SAB and there are no Grand Villas. Whereas some of us will never need a Grand Villa and people trying to pool hop tends to be an issue with several resorts.

No matter which resort you love there will be others that don't find it as magical. And no matter which resort you own at the joy of owning DVC is the ability to try others at 7 months. So I would go into the visit in February with an open mind and let that experience determine how you feel. Either way youwill still have options if you find BLT is not for you.

Couldn't have said it any better myself. Good job.

We couldn't be happier being BLT owners. Well, if we had more points, I suppose we could be happier, but you get my point. ;)

There are so many factors and personal preferences, the only way you will know is staying there yourself. You could TOTALLY love it! If after staying you are TOTALLY miserable there, use your points to stay at other resorts, or sell and buy elsewhere.

Honestly, we first bought SSR and after 2 stays decided we would rather take a loss and buy elsewhere. Glad we did it then, because it was a very small loss, and now points are down to $55!

We are also very happy with our BLT purchase last year. We had our first stay in December 2009 and after staying the prior years at Poly and GF, and loving both of those stays, I wasn't sure how BLT would compare. In the end, we couldn't have been happier with our BLT experience!!! Again, the walk to MK is beyond comparison with respect to convenience. And it was so nice to use the monorail to dine at other resorts on the loop and to visit Epcot. Overall, my expectations were far exceeded during our trip, yes our kitchen table was pretty scratched up, but we still all agree this was our best resort experience to date at WDW! I can't wait until this spring when we get to take family there and share our new "home" with them! :yay:

I just got back from BLT and we had a great experience!!! Don't worry you will love it, even if the decor isn't your cup of tea you can't beat the location and views.

:cool1::cool1::cool1::cool1:

I look at it this way:

BLT is all about location. It's part of the popular "monorail resorts" group. You pay for thought, not only in points/cost, but size. BLT is a bit smaller than the other resorts and is more "condo" style. But the trade-off is you're on the monorail, close to the MK and have easy access to numerous great resort restaurants without having to bus/drive/cab.

OKW has larger rooms, is nice and quiet, fewer points but only has one TS restaurant and requires busing to all parks. Those aren't negative, just different.

To each their own determining what's better. That's why it's not fair to base your opinion on someone else's or to even compare results.

I liken it to living downtown or in the suburbs. I can get a bigger and cheaper home in the 'burbs but have to drive everywhere. Or, I can get a condo downtown that will be smaller, and probably more expensive, but will be right in the action.

You'll be fine and will love it, I'm sure.

We signed the papers the same night. I was surprised!! I thought I would have to go home and talk the hubby into buying. But after we toured he said "Let's go for it." We stayed for the first time in April in a MK Studio and just loved everything about it. I can't wait to go back in Dec. I hope after your first stay you are as happy there as we are.

We only became DVC members in 2009 because they built BLT. We have stayed there twice now and we love it. We leave tomorrow for our yearly 6 night trip and will be in a 1 bedroom LV room for 3 of those nights.

The location can't be beat and it is an easy walk to/from MK. Until you are there, I think that it is hard to know how you will feel.

Yes, there are some things that people are unhappy with but that happens with everything. We are not a fan of the sliding doors for the bathroom but with a door stopper, that can be easily fixed.

The studios are smaller than most of the other studios--but again, if you plan it well, it can work. We did a few nights last summer with four and managed just fine.

I love how easy it is to get to the CR for food, etc. I guess I don't really understand why BLT not having food right in the building is such a big deal because in reality, most of the other DVC resorts are set up the same way. Maybe it has to do with the name, I don't know. But BLT is no farther to the CR main building than the Garden wing is.

It is a great resort and I am sure you will be quite happy!

Please don't stress. Like you we purchased BLT sight unseen. We originally thought about purchasing in December 2008, however didn't end up taking the plunge until December 2009. Like many DVC owners we wished that we had bought sooner.

BLT is great - nothing can beat the proximity to Magic Kingdom. We were there in March and loved being able to walk back to the resort while everyone else was rushing to get back on buses etc. Only 16 more days until we get to go back:)

Once you are there, and experience it in person I'm pretty sure that all of your worries will go away!
